Exact date popular crisps brand is bringing back discontinued flavour after two decades

THE exact date a popular crisps brand is bringing back a discontinued favourite has been revealed. The flavour has been off supermarket shelves for two decades and is set to make a massive comeback. 2 DETAILS OF THE RETURN Discos, owned by KP Snacks, is set to bring back its pickled onion flavour. The fan favourite was removed from shelves in 2005 but will make a triumphant return on August 27 this year. Punters will be able to purchase the tangy snacks from convenience stores for £1.35 per bag. Fans are delighted at the news that the snacks will be available to buy again in just a few weeks. The snacks will be stocked across the UK with 70 gram bags of the crisps available to purchase. ONLINE PETITION In 2022 a petition to bring back the savoury snack was launched. The online plea to bring back the snack gained 428 signatures and was described as an "important cause." Snack lovers described the crisps as "the best crisps to ever exist" and remembered them fondly. Back when they were discontinued the tasty treat only cost 20p but the price has jumped significantly for their return. When the product return was announced Amy Heap, marketing manager at Discos said: "This legendary flavour has been a fan favourite for years, and its mouth-tingling tang is guaranteed to take your snack game to the next level. "Whether you've loved them forever or you're just discovering their iconic punch, we can't wait for you to tear open a bag and try them." MORE RETURNING PRODUCTS Discos is not the only brand relaunching missed snacks. White chocolate Maltesers made a grand return to shelves earlier this year after a 10-year hiatus. A 30g bag is currently available to buy in Morrisons for £1.05, while a larger 74g pouch costs £1.75. Elsewhere, Opal Fruits, which were rebranded as Starburst in 1998, will now be available across major UK retailers. Customers will be able to purchase the treats from Sainsbury's, Tesco, and Morrisons stores for shoppers to enjoy a taste of nostalgia. Why are products axed or recipes changed? ANALYSIS by chief consumer reporter James Flanders. Food and drinks makers have been known to tweak their recipes or axe items altogether. They often say that this is down to the changing tastes of customers. There are several reasons why this could be done. For example, government regulation, like the "sugar tax," forces firms to change their recipes. Some manufacturers might choose to tweak ingredients to cut costs. They may opt for a cheaper alternative, especially when costs are rising to keep prices stable. For example, Tango Cherry disappeared from shelves in 2018. It has recently returned after six years away but as a sugar-free version. Fanta removed sweetener from its sugar-free alternative earlier this year. Suntory tweaked the flavour of its flagship Lucozade Original and Orange energy drinks. While the amount of sugar in every bottle remains unchanged, the supplier swapped out the sweetener aspartame for sucralose.

Nostalgic childhood crisps return to Aldi Specialbuys shelves with limited edition flavour for just 99p

NOSTALGIC childhood crisps have returned to Aldi's shelves, bringing a limited new flavour for just 99p. The iconic crisps were brought back as part of this week's Specialbuys. 2 Burton's legendary Fish 'n' Chips crisps are back in stores, bringing back a wave of nostalgia with their classic salt and vinegar flavour plus a brand new twist. The six-pack is now on sale for just 99p, making each pack around 17p. But there's more. A limited edition prawn cocktail flavour has also been spotted in stores, with fans already raving about it on social media. One shopper wrote: 'Love Fish 'n' Chips even more now that they have prawn cocktail flavour – will be getting some of these tomorrow if they're in my nearest store.' Another added: 'Omg need to get some of those in.' A third said: 'I love these so much I'm going to Aldi right now.' The crisps, which are shaped like mini fish and chips, were a packed lunch favourite for kids growing up in the 90s and early 2000s. Their return has sparked a wave of excitement, with snack lovers desperate to get their hands on them. While they're available on Ocado for £1.50 and listed on Amazon for as much as £3, Aldi is currently offering the cheapest deal but only in-store. So anyone hoping to bag a bargain will need to head to their local branch to grab a pack. Beloved grocery chain 'better than Costco' to open new store as part of expansion after buying closed Winn-Dixie site With prices varying across supermarkets, it's always worth checking multiple retailers to make sure the best value is being snapped up. But at just 99p for six packs, Aldi's offer is hard to beat and fans are wasting no time getting stuck in. How to compare prices to get the best deal JUST because something is on offer, or is part of a sale, it doesn't mean it's always a good deal. There are plenty of comparison websites out there that'll check prices for you - so don't be left paying more than you have to. Most of them work by comparing the prices across hundreds of retailers. Here are some that we recommend: Google Shopping is a tool that lets users search for and compare prices for products across the web. Simply type in keywords, or a product number, to bring up search results. Price Spy logs the history of how much something costs from over 3,000 different retailers, including Argos, Amazon, eBay and the supermarkets. Once you select an individual product you can quickly compare which stores have the best price and which have it in stock. Idealo is another website that lets you compare prices between retailers. All shoppers need to do is search for the item they need and the website will rank them from the cheapest to the most expensive one. CamelCamelCamel only works on goods being sold on Amazon. To use it, type in the URL of the product you want to check the price of. How to save money at Aldi There are lots of clever ways to save even more money when shopping at Aldi and most of them don't require alot of effort. One of the easiest tricks is to look out for items nearing their expiry date. Aldi often marks these down automatically at the till, even if there's no visible sticker on them. Items that expire the same day or the next can be up to 75% cheaper. So if you know you'll use something quickly or have freezer space it's worth snapping these up for big savings. Specialbuys are another major money-saver. These are limited-time items that land in stores every Wednesday and Sunday and cover everything from garden furniture to toys and kitchen gear. You can check what's coming soon by signing up for Aldi's newsletter or checking the Specialbuys section on the website. Aldi also runs its 'Super Six' fruit and veg offer every two weeks, where it slashes prices on six fresh items. It's a great way to get more variety in your weekly shop while paying less, with discounts like oranges for 99p or red cabbage for just 49p. If you haven't already, downloading the Aldi app can also help. It shows you all the latest offers and lets you build a shopping list to help you stick to your budget. You can even use the app to plan ahead for future deals. There's also Aldi's reduced aisle, which includes big discounts on items they're trying to shift. These are marked with red tags and are usually end-of-line Specialbuys or seasonal stock. If you can't spot it, ask staff where the reduction section is – it's often tucked away. Lastly, you can get cashback through Hyperjar, a savings app offering 20% back at Aldi. Just download the free app, load money onto your account, then buy a gift card to match the cost of your shop. You'll get cashback directly into your Hyperjar wallet – perfect if you're doing a big weekly shop and want some money back. .

Cadbury confirms it's discontinued much-loved biscuit treat after launching five years ago

Cadbury has confirmed it's discontinued a much-loved biscuit treat - just five years after it first launched. The chocolatier has discontinued its Bournville fingers, a crispy biscuit treat coated in dark chocolate that fans raved about. The dark version of the Bournville fingers were first introduced in 2020 and earned high praise because they were less sweet than Cadbury's other finger varieties, which include milk chocolate, white chocolate and caramel. But now, only five years later, they will no longer be on shelves in order to 'meet changing tastes'. Mondelez International, owner of Cadbury, said in a statement: 'We continuously adapt our product range to ensure it meets changing tastes whilst supporting growth for our customers and our business. 'Our Cadbury Bournville Fingers were discontinued this year. However, we still have plenty of other delicious products for consumers to enjoy, such as our Cadbury Bournville Giant Dark Buttons and our classic Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Fingers. It's sad news for dark chocolate lovers, who have given the chocolate biscuits glowing reviews over the past five years. On the official Cadbury store on Amazon, Bournville fingers have a 4.5 star rating out of five stars. One buyer wrote: 'Absolutely lovely flavour, I suggest you hide them in the fridge so no one else can get to them, before you.' Another fan, who is located in the US, said: 'These have been my favourite since I was a little girl in England. I'm so happy to be able to get them over here now! They're crunchy with chocolate coating - it's easy to eat half a box without realizing!' On Asda's website, customers also left rave reviews under the Bournville fingers product page. 'I used to enjoy the regular chocolate fingers but since I've tried these I'm a convert!' one reviewer said. 'They are soo delicious especially with a cup of tea, and because they aren't as sweet as the usual chocolate fingers, they are also very moreish! Would recommend for everyone!' A second person wrote: 'Love dark chocolate so why wouldn't I love these, but once I start the pack I can't stop haha.' When Cadbury first launched Bournville fingers, vegans were delighted as the biscuits did not contain any dairy, making them a staple vegan treat. However, about a year ago, vegan fans of the biscuits realised milk had been added to the ingredients list as a potential allergen. Many were disappointed by this development, and took to social media to voice their thoughts. Customers have given the chocolatey biscuits glowing reviews since they launched in 2020, but just five years later, they are being discontinued On Reddit, a customer said: 'I haven't eaten them since they added milk to the ingredients list. Even if the recipe never changed, if the cross contamination is bad enough milk needs listing as an ingredient then for me it's not vegan. 'But I am gutted because I absolutely loved them! I have never bought the Cadbury's Plant bar because I don't want to reward them for what they've done to Bournville... but if they made chocolate fingers with the plant bar I would totally buy those!' Another added: 'I don't eat them. 'May contain' exists for potential cross contamination so as far as I'm concerned, there is milk in them as it's listed as an ingredient. I loved them too!' Last year, Cadbury customers were also devastated when the company officially said it would not be bringing back the Spira bar, which was discontinued in 2005. The highly popular confectionery, known for its semi-hollow twin bars molded in a spiral shape, which offered an airy, crumbly, and smooth texture, was first introduced in 1984. But in a statement to Sky News, a spokesperson for Cadbury said: 'We continuously adapt our product range to ensure it meets changing tastes whilst supporting growth for our customers and our business. 'Our Spira bars were discontinued several years ago but we still have plenty of other delicious sharing bags for consumers to choose from!' But the silver lining for chocolate fans came when they started spotting Cadbury Dairy Milk Shortcake Biscuit chocolate bars again. The bars were discontinued in 2008 but fans revealed in May that they've spotted it in B&M stores across the nation.
