Extreme sports influencer famed for dare-devil stunts plunges 650ft to his death in the Dolomites hours after posting haunting last Instagram video from mountain top
A mountain biker and extreme sports influencer has plunged more than 600ft to his death from atop the Dolomites just hours after sharing a triumphant video to social media. The lifeless body of Andreas Tonelli, 48, was found early Wednesday in a ravine in the Vallunga area of Val Gardena, part of the Dolomites mountain range in Italy 's South Tyrol province. The discovery marked the culmination of a swift rescue effort which began at 9pm local time on Tuesday night after Tonelli's concerned friends raised the alarm, telling emergency services that the daredevil had not returned from his excursion. Less than two hours prior to the launch of the rescue, Tonelli had shared a video to his cohort of 127,000 social media followers in which he was standing atop the summit of Piz Duleda, a mountain peak measuring 9,543ft (2,909 metres) high. The clip showed Tonelli flashing a huge grin while carrying his bike on his shoulders as he passed a small cross marking the mountain's summit. It is believed he suffered an accident or lost control of his bike while descending the mountain and fell some 650ft down the side of the peak, leaving him with fatal injuries. A helicopter was dispatched within minutes of the alarm being raised and the team located Tonelli at the bottom of the ravine around 1am on Wednesday morning, but rescuers could not deploy into the harsh terrain to reach him in the middle of the night. A search and rescue party reached Tonelli shortly after dawn on Wednesday morning, but found he had already succumbed to his injuries. Tonelli was a native of Italy's South Tyrol region and was therefore well acquainted with the Dolomites from a young age, but made a transition into extreme sports much later in life. He reportedly ditched a traditional office job to pursue a life on two wheels, working as a cycling guide in the Dolomites while generating a notable following on social media where he posted adrenaline-fuelled clips of his exploits. Tonelli became a well-known figure in the mountain biking community after achieving several impressive feats, including a successful ride to the summit of Chile's Nevado Ojos de Salado volcano (22,614ft/6,893m), according to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero. He was also reportedly an avid snowboarder, and often summited mountains using a splitboard - a snowboard that can be broken down into skis for ascents and travelling over flat ground, then clipped into one solid plank for descents.

My head swelled up like a balloon about to explode after I ignored strict no-sex rule from my doctor
A MAN who ignored a strict no-sex rule from his doctor said his head blew up "like a balloon". Ruben Owen, 24, who'd just had a hair transplant in Turkey, woke up to discover his head had swelled up and looked like it had been "stung by 100 bees". 7 7 7 The social media influencer from Abersoch, Wales, was offered a hair transplant to rejuvenate his lost locks. After the procedure he was told to abstain from high intensity activities that would cause him to sweat, including sex, sunbathing and exercise, for at least two weeks. But he ignored the specialist's recommendations when in came to sex - only to wake up the next day with a swollen face and painfully tight scalp. Advice from hair transplant clinics suggests that a jump in heart rate and blood pressure from sex can reopen healing incisions, while sweating can irritate the transplant area and increase the risk of infection. In a panic, Ruben initially thought he had a sexually transmitted infection (STI) - but soon realised his post transplant romp was to blame. It took a whole week for the influencer's face to shrink down to its normal size. Ruben recalled: "I wake up and my head had blown up like a balloon - face puffed, scalp tight, and it looked like I'd been stung by 100 bees. "No joke, I thought I'd caught something. I was actually googling STI symptoms and panicking. "Turns out it was just my own fault for going too hard too soon - definitely learned my lesson the weird way. "The left hand side was bigger than anything, to the point it didn't even look like I had been punched - it genuinely looked like my face was going to explode." I had a hair transplant at 27 & my head ballooned like a watermelon - everyone says I looked like Megamind Ruben flew to Turkey on November 2022 at the age of 22 to have the popular hair treatment done. Feeling self conscious about his hair line, he was offered the procedure for free in return for a modelling session for the clinic. In total, he spent £800 for the flights to and from Turkey and returned to Wales the day after the procedure. Hair transplant surgeons generally recommend abstaining from sexual activity for at least seven days post-procedure. 7 7 7 But Ruben decided "not to listen" to his surgeons. He said: "I was doing some modelling work for their social media so I got the deal for a really good price. "It all went OK, they went through the after care and things you are not meant to do. "I didn't quite listen about the sex part and because of that my face just went quite enormous. "I had sex at night time. Woke up the next day and my head was just absolutely massive. Hair transplant aftercare DON'Ts You need to be very careful with your transplanted hair for the first twi weeks after your operation as the grafts will not be secure. You may be told to cut down on exercise in the first month to reduce scarring. It's common after a hair transplant to have: A tight, achy and swollen scalp for a few days Temporary scabbing where the hair was transplanted A single scar or a number of very tiny scars A hair transplant is generally a safe procedure, but as with any type of operation there's always a small risk of: Bleeding Infection An allergic reaction to the anaesthetic Your surgeon should be able to treat these problems quickly. There's also a small risk the transplant will not take and the hair falls out, or a noticeable scar may form. What not to do after having a hair transplant: Don't scratch, scrub or rub your scalp Don't go swimming immediately after a hair transplant Don't do high-impact exercise (avoid head sweat!) Don't bump or hit your head Don't drink alcohol or smoke Don't expose your scalp to direct sunlight Don't dye your hair Don't overstyle hair with styling products that are hard to remove "I was told there was nothing to worry about and that it should go down which it did eventually, because I was going to go to A&E. "I looked like something out of a film - it was something else." Ruben said he learnt his lesson "the hard way", but now ordeal is something to laugh about with his friends. He said: "It is one of those stories that still gets brought up, and to me it is too good not to share. "This is one of them things that I look back on now and it was really stupid I hadn't listened but it was really funny." 7

Account clerk who stole tens of thousands of pounds to copy social media influencers' luxury lives is jailed
An accounts clerk who stole tens of thousands of pounds from her work in an attempt to copy the lives of social media influencers has today been jailed. Emma Fairbanks, 32, used customer bank details to splurge out on lavish holidays, weight loss surgery, business class flights and expensive champagne in an attempt to follow her idols such as the Kardashian family. Her sumptuous lifestyle prompted suspicion from colleagues at Lookers, a used Skoda car dealership in Stockport, but Fairbanks had been insistent that her father had helped her financially. However, skepticism grew when she embarked on flamboyant globetrotting adventures to New York and Dubai before purchasing pricey handbags from Selfridges and a £550 spa weekend at a hotel with her mother. And the jig was soon up when a customer at the dealership began receiving letters from debt collectors for unpaid loans which Fairbanks had illegally set up in their name using their details. Bosses then uncovered 55 fraudulent transactions worth around £22,000 during an investigation - but they fear the total amount stolen is much greater. When quizzed, Fairbanks, who lives in a £160,000 apartment in Stockport, admitted the thefts but claimed she had been suffering from low self esteem due to weight issues and wanted to 'live like a social media influencer.' At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, she admitted two charges of fraud and was jailed for 18 months. The thefts began in June 2022, shortly after Fairbanks was hired at Lookers, where she dealt with the booking of customer services, MOTs and repairs. Prosecutor Miss Megan Horner said: 'In May 2023, a customer received a debtors letter informing there had been multiple missed payments followed a direct debit being set up with Lookers Skoda and the outstanding debt was £1,949. 'She had no knowledge of the debt and contacted Lookers which removed the debt.' A financial crime manager at the dealership discovered that details of the loan was linked to a car which was registered to an unsuspecting customer and which had undergone repairs. Fairbanks was found to have processed the invoice, and her work email and texts messages were interrogated, before illicit transactions worth £21,987 were discovered. Inquiries revealed work had been carried out on the vehicles but Fairbanks had been giving customers her own personal bank details on invoices and estimates. She then disguised the nature of transactions by setting up direct debits with the finance car repair firm, Bumper, in the names of unwitting customers. In some cases she emailed estimates to herself before altering details and passing them on for payment. Victims were also duped into paying bank transfers or cash to Fairbanks after she falsely claimed the company's card machine was not working. The court heard a customer's bank card had also been fraudulently used by Fairbanks to book a spa weekend at the four star Buxton Crescent Hotel in the Peak District. Fairbanks was quizzed by her managers but she denied any wrongdoing and police later raided her home. Miss Horner added: 'Several designer items, electronics, handbags and holiday receipts were found. During police interview she said she was subject to council tax debt which she could not afford to pay therefore had committed the offences. She paid off the debt but then carried on offending. 'Her iPhone contained several photos of the defendant at luxury holiday destinations, business class flights, photos of her drinking champagne, Selfridges bags and also pictures of her at the Buxton Crescent spa hotel paid for by the Lookers customer. 'Her bank statements show nail payments, Euro exchange payments, tickets for Mamma Mia! The Party and various social bookings.' In a statement, Andrew Farrington of Lookers, said: 'Emma was employed in a position of trust and she was expected to safeguard the financial interests of Lookers and our customers. 'She was trusted to take payments in a secure professional and trustworthy manner but exploited this by deceiving our customers into making them believe they were paying Lookers when they were making substantial gains for her. 'Her gain has been our loss and the exact amount is not known as we are still going through out records and we firmly believe there more customers who have had their details copied by Emma to indulge in a lifestyle that could never have been funded by her salary. 'She would take a number of holidays and when asked how she could afford that she claimed her dad had been helping her out financially. Not only did we suffer financially but the thefts impacted heavily on the customer's trust of Lookers.' Fairbanks will now face a Proceeds of Crime hearing, where a court will determine the financial benefit she received from the fraudulent activity. Her lawyer Milena Bennett said in mitigation: 'She had expressed her remorse and that remorse is genuine. 'She really enjoyed her job but she had council tax debt and after initially taking the money from Lookers as an easy way round that problem, she got carried away. 'This is a young woman who was heavily influenced by social media unfortunately. She had a distorted image of herself and was following social media influencers. She decided her image was not good enough as she had weight issues and she used some of the money for weight loss surgery. She found it quite easy to commit the fraud. 'She had low self esteem and had no friends and she even booked her 30th birthday on her own to celebrate that. She felt so lonely she was trying to please other people by paying for them to go with her on her travels.' Sentencing Fairbanks, Judge Neil Usher told her: 'By your premeditated sophisticated and determined dishonesty you used other people's money to fund a luxury lifestyle travelling to Dubai and New York. 'One holiday in Italy seemed to have cost £24,000. You bought designer clothes and handbags and you attended expensive spa sessions - all funded by your dishonesty. 'When colleagues challenged you about the nice holidays you were taking, you lied to them as to the source of the funding. 'Every time a member of the public hands over their credit or debit card details to pay for goods and services, they do so entrusting the individual taking this details not to abuse that trust - but time and time again you did just that.

KUALA LUMPUR : Social media influencer 'CEO Batu', charged yesterday with indecently exposing himself to a minor, was today slapped with an additional charge of possessing pornographic material. Iqbal Muhammad, 22, claimed trial to the latest charge at the Selayang magistrates' court. He arrived at court this morning accompanied by several family members and was seen giving a thumbs-up to the media as he entered the courtroom. Iqbal is accused of possessing pornographic videos and images allegedly found on his mobile phone during an inspection at the Gombak district police headquarters at around 11.30am on May 22. He was charged under Section 292(a) of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of three years' jail, a fine, or both, upon conviction. Magistrate Chai Guan Hock fixed bail at RM3,000 with one surety. Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Birr Zamier Abu Bakar proposed bail at RM6,000. However, Iqbal's lawyer Nabil Ashraff Ridzuan sought to halve the sum, citing financial constraints faced by his client. 'The accused earned about RM3,000 a month as an influencer. But since the case surfaced, he has lost his income as many of his content contracts have been terminated,' he said. Nabil said Iqbal was also supporting his younger brother, who suffers from breathing difficulties, and his 74-year-old grandfather who requires regular check-ups at the National Heart Institute. The court set Sept 30 for mention.
