Eddie Murphy Confirms Donkey Spin-Off, Reveals Production Window
As fans eagerly wait for to hit theaters, Eddie Murphy has confirmed that a Donkey spin-off movie is also in the pipeline. The renowned actor and comedian revealed in a recent interview that he will begin work on a Donkey-centered project later this year, also providing insight into its potential premiere schedule in the process. Donkey spin-off movie confirmed after Shrek 5, could release in 2027 During a conversation with ScreenRant's Liam Crowley, Eddie Murphy confirmed that the Shrek film franchise will continue to expand after Shrek 5, with a Donkey spin-off movie set to commence production in the latter half of 2025. While noting that the Shrek 5 cast is 'still doing voiceover stuff' for the upcoming film, the Beverly Hills Cop star stated, 'We start in September on Donkey, we're doing a Donkey one, and that'll be three years from now, but we're about two years into Shrek 5.' As Murphy mentioned that production on the Donkey spin-off will start in September this year, the movie could have a release date window in 2027 or 2028. So far, the Shrek franchise has spawned four movies, with a fifth set to come out next year, along with two spin-off films. Notably, both spin-off projects have revolved around the character Puss in Boots, with Antonio Banderas returning to voice the character in both movies. Shedding more light on what fans can expect from the forthcoming Donkey spin-off, Murphy noted, 'Donkey's going to be like how Puss in Boots had his own movie, Donkey's going to have his own movie, own little story with his dragon wife and his kids that are half-dragon and half-donkeys. They've written this funny story.' However, despite Murphy's comments, the untitled Donkey spin-off has yet to receive an official release date from DreamWorks. Production is moving swiftly with the upcoming Shrek 5, which is on track to open in theaters on December 23, 2026. Originally reported by Apoorv Rastogi on SuperHeroHype. ‘Daryl Dixon' Is Ending, Likely Heralding The End Of ‘The Walking Dead'
Daryl Dixon While AMC has been greenlighting and filming the Walking Dead spin-off Daryl Dixon non-stop, already approving of four seasons before the third has even aired, it's all coming to an end. AMC has announced at the show's Comic Con panel that season 4 will be the last season of Daryl Dixon, a bit of a surprise given how full-steam it's been going since its premiere in 2023. Again, it's only been two years and the show is defying traditional streaming rules by coming out quickly with seasons often filming as others are airing, or near that. Daryl Dixon ending means that there is literally just a single, non-cancelled (as of now) show in The Walking Dead universe. That is Dead City, which was surprisingly renewed for season 3 recently. It stars Negan and Maggie in New York City, and has been less popular and lower profile than Daryl Dixon. But it's coming back all the same. It is hard to imagine, given this news, that the complete and total end of The Walking Dead, at least for a long, long while, is not nigh, lasting probably two more years, at best, barring any huge announcements. Everything is done: Dead City And now Daryl Dixon, but if Dead City lasted longer than when season 4 of Daryl Dixon is out, likely in 2027, I would be surprised. There have been no other spin-offs announced featuring other characters from the series, characters that I would say would have to be less popular than Rick, Michonne, Daryl, Carol, Negan and Maggie, really all of the still-alive main leads, that are now seeing their projects wrap up. The Walking Dead really was a global phenomenon for a while, its peak being back in 2014 with the introduction of Negan, albeit his brutality began a sharp fall-of shortly after. The main show ended in late 2022, but with its spin-offs ending and nothing new on the docket, this may be it. Of course, this is Hollywood and it's possible that The Walking Dead will simply be rebooted someday. Hell, I'm not even sure it's a bad idea, given some of the huge, very bad changes the series ended up making over the years (RIP Carl) that it could then have the chance to correct. It's also possible that AMC may announce even more TWD projects in the coming years, but more than anything, it feels like this well has gotten dry, and it's time to move on to other, more current projects like the channels burgeoning Anne Rice universe. Intel Plans to Spin Off Its Networking Unit as CEO Looks to Shed Assets
Intel (INTC) is looking to spin off its networking unit as the struggling chipmaker moves to shed assets under the direction of new CEO Lip-Bu Tan, according to a report Friday. Intel has already started the process of courting strategic investors for its Network and Edge group, and notified customers of the move this week, CRN reported. Intel told CRN that it intends to remain an 'anchor investor' in the business. That deal recalls Altera, the programmable chips unit that Intel in April agreed to sell a 51% stake in to a private equity firm. Intel did not immediately respond to Investopedia's request for comment. Tan, who took the helm of Intel in March, has said he would look to cut non-core assets and streamline the business as part of his efforts to engineer a turnaround. His moves so far have also included layoffs, an end to previously planned projects in Germany and Poland, and a slowdown in the already delayed construction of new facilities in Ohio. 'I do not subscribe to the belief that if you build it, they will come,' Tan told investors on Thursday's earnings call, raising some concerns that Intel's cost discipline under Tan could also mean a lengthy recovery and potentially hamper its ability to catch up with competitors. Shares of Intel tumbled nearly 9% Friday after the chipmaker posted a loss. The drop erased most of the stock's gains for the year. Intel is spinning off its Network and Edge group
Intel continues to streamline its business. The company plans to spin off its Network and Edge group, which is responsible for making chips for the telecom industry, as originally reported by CRN. Intel will be an anchor investor in the standalone business and will seek outside capital. Intel was rumored to be looking for a buyer for its Network and Edge group in May. This business produced $5.8 billion in revenue in 2024. This strategy seems similar to the company's decision to spin off RealSense, its former stereoscopic imaging technology business, earlier this month. Intel decided to spin RealSense out during former CEO Pat Gelsinger's tenure and the company struck out on its own with $50 million in venture funding. TechCrunch reached out for more information about its plans and timeline for the spinout.
