Many wounds found on women killed in Hamamatsu girls bar, police say
Many stab wounds and scratches have been found on the bodies of two women who were killed at a girls bar in Shizuoka Prefecture on Sunday, it has been learned. The wounds were primarily located on their upper bodies, including their backs, investigative sources said. In the incident, Tomoka Takeuchi, the 27-year-old manager of the bar in the city of Hamamatsu, and Rin Ito, 26, an employee of the bar, died after being stabbed repeatedly. The crime took place around 1 a.m. Sunday. The suspect, Ichiro Yamashita, a 41-year-old unemployed man, was arrested on the scene the same day for attempted murder. The Shizuoka Prefectural Police Department sent Yamashita to public prosecutors on Monday, revising his charges to murder. The police are investigating details including Yamashita's motives, believing that the suspect had a strong intent to kill the victims. According to the sources, Yamashita drove Ito to the bar in his car. He entered the bar with Ito, holding what appeared to be a knife with a 20-centimeter curved blade in each hand. Soon after that, Yamashita assaulted Takeuchi. The suspect then chased Ito, who fled the bar, and attacked her from behind in a hallway of the building where the bar is located, the sources said. Yamashita was arrested on a nearby street by police officers who rushed to the scene. Other employees and several customers were in the bar at the time of the incident. None of them were injured. Yamashita admitted to the allegations against him, telling the police that it was true that he had stabbed the two women, according to the sources.

Coroner identifies Tehachapi homicide victim
An 83-year-old Tehachapi man has been identified as the victim of a homicide, and his grandson has been charged with first-degree murder. Early Tuesday afternoon, the Kern County Coroner's office released a statement identifying Norman E. Higginbotham as the victim in a case that began with the discovery of his body on June 13 in an 'open mountainous area' near the 24000 block of Banducci Road. Previously, the Kern County Sheriff's Office reported that the deceased body was found in a large shipping container — commonly referred to as a Sea Train — on Alps Drive and Banducci Road, southwest of the city of Tehachapi. According to the coroner's report, a postmortem examination determined that he sustained multiple stab wounds. The report noted that family members have been notified. Lori Meza, information officer for the Kern County Sheriff's Office, said in an email on Monday that the suspect, Skyler Higginbotham, 23, was arrested at about 7 p.m. June 25 in the vicinity of Madre Street and Park Road, which is near Golden Hills Elementary School. An obituary notice for Norman Higginbotham's mother, Alice Freemon, identified Skyler Higginbotham as one of her great-grandchildren, and neighbors reported in social media posts that the younger man was Norman Higginbotham's grandson. According to his LinkedIn page, Norman Higginbotham was a reentry student when he began his studies at Bakersfield College in 1989. He worked as a tutor part-time at the college while also working for the city of Tehachapi and commuting to Bakersfield for school. He continued his education at California State University, Bakersfield, earning a bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in religious studies. He went on to obtain a teaching credential and worked as a teacher in Southern Kern Unified School District and Tehachapi Unified School District. KCSO records show that Skyler Jeremiah Higginbotham, date of birth June 9, 2002, is being held in the Lerdo Justice Facility in Bakersfield with a charge of murder, first degree.
