Colleen Bready's forecast: Severe weather possible throughout Manitoba Friday
Colleen Bready has your current conditions and updated weather forecast for June 27, 2025. It is another hot late June day in southern Manitoba on Friday, with the potential for severe storms to develop. Much like earlier this week, widespread instability is developing across the region. The culprit is a cluster of low pressure disturbances, which could provide more than one trigger for severe weather beginning Friday afternoon. Supercell thunderstorms could develop there along a trough and cold front moving in from Saskatchewan. The weather agency cautions a separate disturbance could be even more likely to trigger supercell thunderstorms north of the border that could potentially produce large hail and bring the risk of a tornado. The chance of showers or thunderstorms will grow in the evening and overnight. Northern regions are not exempt from the possibility of thunderstorms Friday. There is the chance of showers with the risk of thunderstorms across most regions in the afternoon and into the night. Looking ahead to the Canada Day long weekend in Winnipeg, this risk of thunderstorms will continue in hot and humid conditions, with temperatures forecast to reach the upper 20s. Canada Day on Tuesday will be mainly sunny with a forecast high of 26 C.

'Extremely Dangerous' Storm Could Hit 4 U.S. States Tonight originally appeared on The Spun. An "extremely dangerous" storm featuring "downburst/microburst" events could hit up to four U.S. states on Wednesday evening. The National Weather Service is warning of severe weather in part of the country on Wednesday night, June 25. Extreme storms, featuring up to 75 MPH wind gusts, could produce some brief thunderstorms or possible tornadoes. However, it's the significant wind gusts that are most dangerous. "From first glance, it looks like temperatures around 100°, with dews in the 50s-60s wouldn't support robust thunderstorms, and by no means will these storms be very long-lived or even tornadic, they will be single-cell in nature," the alert states. "However, strong CAPE aloft and the presence of moderate upper-level shear will support the development of scattered thunderstorms, and with extreme Lapse Rates & low-level mixing, this will promote very robust downdrafts, with severe winds expected." Four U.S. states are at risk of getting hit hard: North Carolina South Carolina Georgia Tennessee "We're not just expecting a couple of isolated strong-severe downbursts, but scattered to widespread instances of severe microbursts. These storms could produce winds up to 75mph, potentially stronger, in the more robust downburst events," the alert added. As a reminder, here's what to do when severe weather hits: Stay Weather Ready: Continue to listen to local news or a NOAA Weather Radio to stay updated about severe thunderstorm watches and warnings. At Your House: Go to your secure location if you hear a severe thunderstorm warning. Damaging wind or large hail may be approaching. Take your pets with you if time allows. At Your Workplace or School: Stay away from windows if you are in a severe thunderstorm warning and damaging wind or large hail is approaching. Do not go to large open rooms such as cafeterias, gymnasiums or auditoriums. Outside: Go inside a sturdy building immediately if severe thunderstorms are approaching. Sheds and storage facilities are not safe. Taking shelter under a tree can be deadly. The tree may fall on you. Standing under a tree also put you at a greater risk of getting struck by lightning. In a Vehicle: Being in a vehicle during severe thunderstorms is safer than being outside; however, drive to closest secure shelter if there is sufficient time. Stay safe tonight. Severe thunderstorms pop up in Chicago for second evening in a row
Scattered severe storms hit the Chicago area for a second day in a row Wednesday. Just after 5 p.m., the National Weather Service called a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the southern portion of Kane County. The warning is in place until 5:45 p.m. A severe thunderstorm was located over Elburn and was moving northeast at 30 mph. The storm involved wind speeds of 60 mph. Severe storms are expected to pop off through the evening until 9 p.m.

Philadelphia region likely to hit record-high temps again Tuesday amid heat wave. Here's the weather forecast.
The week started with record-setting heat; both the high (99) and the low (77) Monday were the warmest of all time for June 23 in Philadelphia. And we'll likely do it again on Tuesday with the hottest day likely in over a decade. We will also repeat the process on Wednesday; consequently, a NEXT Weather Alert is in place through Wednesday. Air quality won't be great either, and additional air quality alerts may be issued before the week is done. Wednesday, the heat dome begins to degrade a bit, allowing a better chance for showers and storms, some of which may turn briefly strong or severe — intense downpours will also be possible. Once we get past this heat, the unstable air returns, and the storm door will open through the weekend. CBS News Philadelphia How to stay cool in Philadelphia The City of Philadelphia's Department of Public Health has declared a heat health emergency, effective now through Wednesday night. The emergency could be extended if the forecast changes and this heat wave continues. Due to the heat health emergency, the city has activated its emergency heat programs, including Philadelphia's Corporation for Aging's Heatline, cooling centers, home visits by special field teams and enhanced daytime outreach for those experiencing homelessness. A full list of cooling centers, spraygrounds and pools in Philadelphia is available online. Don't walk dogs on the hot pavement; their paws can burn.
