Sixteen primary and secondary students hospitalised for broken bones after school bus flips over JB pothole
JOHOR BARU, July 18 — Sixteen school children were hospitalised after the school bus they were in flipped and overturned after hitting an open pothole along Jalan Abdul Samad here. The children were rushed to Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA) where they were treated for a host of injuries, including broken hands and fingers, according to Johor Education and Information Committee chairman Aznan Tamin. 'I have received the latest updates from the hospital and the school regarding the condition of the victims, and I assure that all the affected students will receive the best medical care and health monitoring,' he said in a Facebook post. 'The authorities are also conducting a thorough investigation into the incident to identify the exact cause and to ensure appropriate action is taken to safeguard student safety in the future.' The accident involved three students from SMK Mohd Khalid, three from SMK Aminuddin Baki, and 10 from SJKT Jalan Yahya Awal here. He said the incident was unfortunate as it involved the safety of students. 'Let us all pray for the swift recovery of all the injured students, and may all matters concerning them and their families be eased,' he added.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Senate Bill 160, which contains the anti-hazing law known as 'Danny's Law,' was signed into law by Governor Mike Kehoe on Wednesday. This section of the bill is named after Danny Santulli, a University of Missouri-Columbia student who suffered severe brain damage due to a hazing incident. The bill also makes hazing a criminal offense for those who knowingly participate in acts that endanger a student or member of a private or public university. The Mizzou Greek Alliance released the following statement: 'Yesterday Governor Mike Kehoe signed legislation putting Danny's Law into place in Missouri, marking the successful conclusion of a three-year effort by the Mizzou Greek Alliance (MGA) to improve safety and accountability for college students involved in hazing activities. Since you have previously reported on the Danny Santulli case for which this new law is named, MGA would like to share more perspective with you via the news release below regarding the team efforts to get this law passed and its anticipated impact at college campuses around the state. Danny's Law was first introduced to the Missouri legislature in 2023 and is aimed at student organizations such as fraternities, sports teams and other groups. According to court documents, Danny attended 'Pledge Dad Reveal Night' at the fraternity on Oct. 19, 2021. When he arrived at the hospital, Danny was not breathing and his blood alcohol content was .468, nearly six times the legal limit in Missouri. Cops nab teacher after student claims she was molested
Rembau police said the suspect was arrested last night after the victim filed a report at 5.15pm yesterday. (Rawpixel pic) PETALING JAYA : A school teacher was arrested after he was alleged to have molested a 16-year-old female student with an intellectual disability in Rembau on May 5. Rembau police chief Hasani Hussain said the student, who is enrolled in the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI), lodged a report at 5.15pm yesterday, alleging she was molested by the 36-year-old male teacher, Bernama reported. Hasani added that the incident is believed to have occurred after the student had completed a cross-country run and was experiencing some pain in her leg. 'According to the student, the teacher massaged her legs, starting from the soles of her feet to her calves and then to her thighs. 'At this point, she said she felt the teacher had touched a sensitive area,' Hasani said in a statement today. He said the student initially confided in a friend and later informed another teacher about the incident on June 30. Hasani said police detained the suspect at around 10pm last night, adding that the man denied the allegations. 'The case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017,' he said.

Former Baltimore County school worker accused of inappropriate relationship with student, police say
A former building service worker at a Baltimore County school has been accused of an inappropriate relationship with a student, according to Baltimore County police. Donovan Michaud, 30, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of fourth-degree sex offense. He is being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center. Detectives arrested Michaud after reports of a relationship with a student at Overlea High School.
