Moment wheelchair user shocks witnesses by clinging to moving police van in 'Back To The Future'-style stunt
This is the shocking moment a wheelchair user was captured clinging onto the back of a police van in a 'Back To The Future'-style stunt. Stunned onlookers watched on as a person in a wheelchair appeared to be pulled along by the moving police vehicle for around 10 seconds before eventually letting go and casually waving to the officers. The alarming footage, shared to social media platform TikTok with the caption 'Welcome to Bolton', was recorded on Monday, July 7, on Bark Street, located in the heart of the Greater Manchester town. Zohib Hussain, who filmed the bizarre incident as he watched it unfold, was on his break at work when he first caught glimpse of the wheelchair user grabbing the back of the police van from his office window. Reflecting on the unique sight, the 28-year-old said: 'I was on my break and just looking out the office window, and I saw this guy in the wheelchair hang on to the police van. 'My initial thought was it was funny, but it was also dangerous at the same time, as a car from the other side could have turned in and hit him.' Social media users were quick to react to the unusual video, which has amassed more than 227,000 views, with one user commenting, 'This was a weird version of Back To The Future', while another jokingly quipped: 'That's one way of getting away with MOT, tax and insurance'. Other viewers praised the quick-thinking man for his attempt at 'trying to get a free ride', with one commenter remarking: 'That's when you know that buses have got too expensive'. Meanwhile, another added: 'Wait for the blue lights to come on and he's going like 60mph'. It comes after a group of eight youths were arrested as part of a police crackdown on a growing number of individuals found to be 'hanging on' to moving tram units. On Monday, June 2023, the youngsters had been allegedly caught riding on the 'coupling units' that connect trams in Manchester City Centre together, alongside on the back of buses. They were arrested by Greater Manchester Police's transport unit and detained on suspicion of public order offences. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) have previously warned about a concerning nationwide increase in so-called 'tram surfing' and 'bus surfing' following viral social media videos. The organisation added that between January and May this year there have been 108 reported incidents - compared to 80 seen across the region's bus and Metrolink network across 2024. Daniel Vaughan, TfGM's chief network officer, said the force were 'aware of a worrying rise in reports' of 'mostly youths riding between trams and hanging off the back of buses with footage of these reckless incidents circulating on social media'. Mr Vaughan added: 'This incredibly dangerous behaviour could have catastrophic consequences, and these arrests demonstrate our zero-tolerance approach to crime and antisocial behaviour on public transport. 'Unfortunately, we have seen people die as a result of falling between trams having climbed onto an auto coupler, and we want to prevent this from happening again. 'We would urge parents and guardians to speak to their children about the dangers of participating in this kind of behaviour and for schools to highlight the danger to pupils. 'Anyone caught in engaging in dangerous activities are not only taking their own lives in their hands, but they will also face very real consequences when they are caught.'

Man who climbed up ropes of cruise ship in Sydney Harbour fined $4000 over ‘really stupid' stunt
A man who climbed up the ropes of a cruise ship on Sydney Harbour in a self-proclaimed 'really stupid' stunt has been fined $4000. George Frederick Carr, 29, climbed up the ropes of the Carnival Adventure cruise ship at the overseas passenger terminal at The Rocks in Sydney on May 17. Video of Carr's bizarre climb was widely shared on social media last month, capturing him hanging upside down as he made his way up the ropes. However his adventure was short-lived, with police called to the scene about 3pm. Footage showed a police boat below as the man stood on the ropes before he was lowered down and escorted away by officers. Carr pleaded guilty in Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday morning to charges of enter cleared zone when not screened and cleared, and enter landside and waterside restricted zones when not authorised. Magistrate Elizabeth Bushby had to take a moment to look up the unusual offences before sentencing. 'I'm gonna have to look this up because this is not an event that commonly comes before court,' she said. Representing himself, Carr then told the court that he'd climbed the rope to do a 'stunt', believing the cruise ship was bound for Europe when it was due to depart on a nine-day round trip to the Great Barrier Reef. 'I just thought I'd climb the rope and get in through the latch,' Carr told the court. 'But I didn't get inside the boat and they lowered the rope and they caught me.' He told Ms Bushby that he had been 'really stupid'. However, Ms Bushby told him the offences were 'more than a stunt', with the clear zones of the harbour in place to protect the community and species in the area. She also pointed to the large number of resources that were taken up trying to 'prevent (Mr Carr) from following through with (his) plan'. Ms Bushby accepted that it was a 'spontaneous' offence, but it's nature was 'unexplained'. Emphasising the importance of deterring others from committing similar offences, Ms Bushby handed down two $1250 fines for each of the two charges related to entering a cleared zone and entering a landside restricted zone. A further $1500 fine was also handed down for the charge relating to entering the waterside restricted zone. Ms Bushby told the court that the third offence was 'objectively more serious' than the others. 'That matter is an objectively more serious example of the offences in your conduct when you were in that zone and the resources that were taken up,' she told the court.

Tom Cruise awarded Guinness World Record for "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" flaming parachute stunt
Tom Cruise has become a Guinness World Record titleholder for a fiery "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" stunt. In the stunt, Cruise jumps out of a helicopter and deploys a parachute, then lights it on fire. The parachute was pre-soaked in fuel and lit ablaze, the Guinness World Records said in a news release. Cruise had to jump from at least 7,500 feet, the organization said. The flaming parachute could only burn for about three seconds before Cruise had to cut it away and deploy a backup chute. And sometimes, he was doing it while holding a 50-pound camera rig. Cruise conducted the stunt not once, not twice — but 16 times, the Guinness World Records said, making him the record holder for "most burning parachute jumps by an individual." Cruise was awarded the title on June 4. Tom Cruise attends the "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning" premiere at Lincoln Center on Sunday, May 18, 2025, in New York. Evan Agostini/Invision/AP "Tom doesn't just play action heroes – he is an action hero!" said Craig Glenday, Editor-in-Chief of Guinness World Records. "A large part of his success can be chalked up to his absolute focus on authenticity and pushing the boundaries of what a leading man can do. It's an honour to be able to recognize his utter fearlessness with this new Guinness World Records title." It's far from the first incredible stunt Cruise has performed in the "Mission: Impossible" franchise. Previous movies have featured him hang from the side of a plane, ride a motorcycle off a cliff and climb the world's tallest building. He is a licensed skydiver and has been a licensed pilot for over 30 years. In "Top Gun: Maverick," Cruise also performed a number of aerial stunts. "The audience can tell when something's been cheated, so it's important to be doing it all for-real," Wade Eastwood, a stunt coordinator on "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" told Guinness World Records. This is Cruise's second Guinness World Record. He holds a box office title for actor with the most consecutive $100-million-grossing movies. He has 11 movies that qualify, starting with 2012's "Jack Reader" and ending with "Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning."
