Body found off walkway near Auckland's Southern Motorway
A police cordon is set up in a walkway near SH1 at Highbrook. Photo: RNZ / Bella Craig A man's body has been found off a walkway which runs alongside Auckland's Southern Motorway. Police were alerted at around 11.30am and while carrying out initial investigations at the scene they located a suspicious item near the man's body. The object was first thought to be an improvised explosive device (IED). "The area was immediately cordoned off, including the closure of SH1 between Princes Street and Highbrook Drive," a spokesperson said. The Police Specialist Search Group and the NZDF EOD Team were sent to the area. After a thorough search two objects were found, both of which were safely removed from the scene. "Initial enquiries indicate that these items are not IEDs, and further specialist enquiries will need to be carried out into these two objects." The motorway has since reopened. The spokesperson said police would provide further details in due course. St John were at the scene with two rapid response vehicles in a standby capacity. ‘Suspicious item' found in Dartmouth neighbourhood, street closed

Halifax Regional Police says the item was found on Pauline Crescent in the Ellenvale area. The street has been evacuated and is closed to vehicles and pedestrians. Suspicious item sparks evacuation at Auckland Transport HQ

Police say they were called at 1pm to reports of a suspicious item being left at reception. Cordons were put in place and the building was evacuated as a precaution. AT said staff were now back inside, and police said the location had been cleared. Bomb squad called to Barwell over item inside crashed car
The bomb squad was called in after police found a "suspicious" item following a crash.A car had left the road and ended up in a hedge in Ashby Road, Barwell, at about 18:25 BST on Tuesday, with two occupants fleeing the Police attended and while the crashed vehicle was being recovered, what the force described as "a suspicious item" was found in the rear of the car.A cordon was put in place while the Army's Explosive Ordnance Disposal team attended to confirm the item was "not of concern". The force would not confirm what the item was later identified as.A spokesperson said: "While the vehicle was being recovered, a suspicious item was found in the rear of the car."In the interest of public and police safety, a cordon was put in place and contact was made with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team, who attended."The item was examined and confirmed not to be suspicious and not of concern and the road was reopened shortly after."A search for the two people who left the area was carried out with assistance from the National Police Air Service but they were not found, and investigations were ongoing, police said.
