BRICS leaders to call for data protections against unauthorized AI use
RIO DE JANEIRO, July 6 (Reuters) - Leaders of the BRICS group of developing nations will call for protections against unauthorized use of artificial intelligence (AI) to avoid excessive data collection and allow mechanisms for fair payment, according to a draft statement seen by Reuters. The diplomatic bloc is dedicating part of its discussions on Sunday to AI during a two-day summit in Rio de Janeiro. Big tech firms largely based in wealthy nations have resisted calls to pay copyright fees for material used to train AI models.

BRASILIA, July 3 (Reuters) - Brazilian technology services provider C&M Software has resumed operations with clearance from the central bank, it said on Thursday, after reporting a cyberattack on its systems the previous day. C&M serves financial institutions lacking connectivity infrastructure. The central bank had ordered it to shut down financial institutions' access to its infrastructure after the cyberattack.

SAO PAULO :The technical body of Brazilian antitrust regulator CADE recommended on Monday a decision against Apple for what it called anti-competitive practices in the tech giant's iOS ecosystem. In a statement, CADE said the case, which follows a complaint by Latin America e-commerce firm MercadoLibre, will be decided by an internal panel.
