I'm a gran at 31 after my daughter & me both became teen mums, everyone said I destroyed my life when I gave birth at 13

A WOMAN has shared what it's really like being a teen mum and young gran. Michele Dalton, a mum-of-four, gave birth for the first time when she was just 13 years old. 3 3 The mum, who grew up on a trailer park, said that she hoped her daughters wouldn't follow in her footsteps, but ended up becoming a gran at 31. Speaking to Truly, Michele, now 36, said people told her she destroyed her life by keeping her firstborn but was determined to prove people wrong. Now, she is a mum to four daughters; Alecia, Arianna, Addyson and Aliyah, and she became a mum-of-three at the age of 21. She said: "Having my girls so young I truly feel like we grew up together so I was learning how to live as I was teaching them how to be little independent humans." Despite having children so young herself, Michele never believed she would be a young gran. "Never in my life did I imagine that I would be a grandma at 31 years old," she explained. Alecia, Michele's eldest daughter fell pregnant when she was 16 and gave birth to Ivory Rose at 18. "When Alecia told me she was pregnant at 17, my whole heart was shattered," the gran continued. "I know what it's like to be a super young mum and it is never anything that I wanted my girls to experience." However, Michele was quick to support her daughter throughout the pregnancy and be the best gran she could. 3 The mum said that she's happy her second eldest has no desire to have children. "I call her my teen pregnancy cycle breaker because she graduated high school, she has no babies, she has zero desire to have any babies," Michelle said. Despite the haters, Michelle loves her family and wouldn't change a thing. The clip soon went viral with over 18k views on Truly's YouTube account and people were quick to share their thoughts. One person wrote: "This is shocking just from my perspective because I'm 30 (no kids) and I feel like my life just started." Another commented: "Well, I for one am proud of you! It looks like you've done a very good job indeed." "She proved she can accomplish so much with school etc even with having three kids by 21. Never judge a book by its cover," penned a third. I got pregnant at 14 & now I'm trolled for being a ‘lazy mum' as I don't work – everyone assumes I'm on benefits too

A YOUNG woman who became a teen mum has hit back at haters who call her lazy. Saffron Kelly was just 14 when she fell pregnant with her daughter, Ivy, who is now three. 2 2 In one social media clip, she said: "I'm just a lazy teen mum who got knocked up at 14. "I don't have a job, here's what I do in four hours whilst my daughter's at nursery." Proving the haters wrong, she shared just how much she got done around the house despite being ill. "I was brushing her teeth last night in literal tears because of how ill I was," the mum added. Saffron first got to work in her daughter's room, changing the bedding and tidying up her toys and clothes. She then went on to deep clean the room, including using a toothbrush to scrub the skirting boards. The mum also cracked on with wrapping her daughter's birthday presents before sticking on a load of laundry. After, the mum tackled her own bedroom before going out to the car and giving the interiors a deep clean too. Saffron then went on to have lunch but she wasn't done cleaning yet as she moved on to the bathroom as well and scrubbing the floor on her hands and knees. "When I tell you this was an absolute workout," she said. I'm trolled for raising my 8-month-old in 'squalor' after I showed off the state of my room… but his cot's squeaky clean "I am not over exaggerating like I think my arm is actually dead but it looks 10 times better. So I can't really complain. My hands are red raw from scrubbing this." Saffron's video was posted to her TikTok account @ saffronkelly1 and went viral with over 199k views. It clearly proved the haters who bash her as lazy wrong and many took to the comments to praise the mum. One person wrote: "14 is crazy, looks like you have coped well." "You're doing amazing," penned a third. Meanwhile a fourth said: "You're an amazing mum, teen mums don't get enough credit. I was a teen mum and always felt judged so I worked that little bit harder to be a better mum." "Girl give yourself a round of applause, you deserve some serious relaxation from all that cleaning,' claimed a fifth. Someone else added: 'Why do people think kids having kids is fine let the benefits system pay for them get a job and pay for your own child."

I had my first kids from age 18 & my next 3 in my 30s, but being a teen mum was easier – the last year has been savage

A WOMAN who had three kids in her teens and three in her thirties has insisted being a young mum was a lot easier. Carla became a mum for the first time at the age of 18, and went on to have another at 20 and another at 23. 2 Then there was a 10-year break, before she had a son at 33, quickly followed by a daughter and then another son who she conceived when her daughter was seven months old. But as her youngest son Ace prepared to turn one, Carla, 38, reflected on tackling motherhood at two different ages, and insisted one was much harder than the other. "It has been the most savage year of my life," she sighed in a video on TikTok. "Having the three older boys when I was younger was so much easier. "I don't care what anyone says about teen mums. But having the older boys when I was younger was so much easier." She added that she thought she was going to be "living my best life" in her late thirties, before life "came in at me hot". "But moral of the story is, this last year has been absolutely savage," she said. One of the biggest challenges she's had to face is one of her son's being diagnosed with autism, before having to go through the process of getting an EHCP and a disability funding grant. "So if anyone else has been doing that, wow," she sighed. "Anyway, maybe have kids young, guys!" I was a teen mum & people said it would be my biggest regret - I proved them wrong Carla further expanded in another video as she marked Ace's first birthday. "I think when you're 18 or a young teen mum or younger mum, you're so not worried about other people's opinions," she mused. "Like now I find I've got worry, I've got anxiety, I get the worst mum guilt." And it's also the fact that we are now living in "a completely different world", with parents having to navigate "social media pressures" among other challenges, such as having a neurodivergent child. "I also don't know whether because I have one girl and the girl is the two and a half year old, that maybe that has made it become a bit of a s**t show," she continued. "Because girls are absolute feral beasts!" Carla went on to say that the majority of the comments she'd received on her first video backed her that being an older mum is harder than being a young one. "When my youngest started nursery, I would have been 21, I had a mum ask me, 'Oh, how old are you?' And I was like, '21', to which she said, 'I'm old enough to be your mum!'" she recalled. "And I wish now that I'd have said something, I wish I'd said to her, 'Not my problem, babes, that you decide to have kids when you're nearly a nan age!'"
