Republicans vote to haul in Bill and Hillary Clinton for questioning on Epstein files
House Republicans have voted in favor of subpoenaing former President Bill Clinton and his wife former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for testimony about Jefferey Epstein. A motion from Rep. Scott Perry to have Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., solicit the Clinton's testimony passed Wednesday afternoon. The effort also will called for other high-profile Democrats with expected ties to the late pedophile to be subpoenaed. Former Attorneys General Eric Holder and Merrick Garland will also be compelled to testify. So will former special counsel Robert Mueller, who oversaw Trump's Russia collusion case. 'I have a motion to subpoena the following individuals to expand the full committees investigation into Miss Maxwell – and the list reads as follows: William Jefferson Clinton, Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton, James Brian Comey, Loretta Elizabeth Lynch, Eric Hampton Holder, Jr., Merrick Brian Garland, Robert Swan Mueller III, William Pelham Barr, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions the third, and Alberto Gonzales,' Perry said during the session. Comer, as committee chair, will now have to prepare subpoenas for each of the individuals. The push to force the Democrats to testify comes one day after Comer subpoenaed Epstein's longtime partner and accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence on sex trafficking charges. The push for additional Epstein-related testimony comes amid heightened media scrutiny over the sex offender's unreleased Department of Justice and FBI files. Earlier this month, the DOJ and FBI put out a joint unsigned memo indicating that no further files regarding Epstein shall be released. Immediately this outraged many on the right who believed the Trump administration would unveil the highly sought after documents. Since then, the administration has pushed to have a grand jury unseal files regarding the Epstein case. The DOJ has also indicated it wants to elicit additional information from Maxwell, and it has worked to set up a time for her to meet with officials.

Congress subpoenas Ghislaine Maxwell and plans a prison interview even after House Speaker questioned her credibility
House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer has issued a subpoena ordering Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Jeffrey Epstein, to testify from prison in Florida. Comer set Maxwell's deposition date for August 11 as the Trump administration faces mounting criticism over the Epstein files. Maxwell is set to be interviewed at the Federal Correctional Institution Tallahassee, where she is currently serving a 20-year sentence for her role in helping Epstein recruit, groom, and abuse young girls. Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche also announced Tuesday he has contacted Maxwell's attorneys to set up a meeting with her. Comer said the Justice Department is 'cooperating and will help facilitate the deposition at the prison.' Some have called for Maxwell to testify to shed light on if any other people were involved with Epstein's actions. The subpoena comes after Speaker of the House Mike Johnson questioned whether Maxwell's testimony will be truthful. 'If they see fit to bring in Ghislaine Maxwell for testimony, that's fine,' Johnson told reporters Wednesday. 'I will note the obvious concern, the caveat that Chairman Comer and I and everyone has, that, can she be counted on to tell the truth? Is she a credible witness?' 'I mean, this is a person who's been sentenced to many, many years in prison for terrible, unspeakable, conspiratorial acts and acts against innocent young people,' he added. 'I mean, can we trust what she's going to say, even if she raises her hand and says that she'll testify under oath?' Maxwell's attorney, David Markus, told The Independent he understands the 'general concern' that Congress should vet witnesses, but says Johnson's worries are 'unfounded' in this case. 'If Ms. Maxwell agrees to testify before Congress and not take the 5th—and that remains a big if—she would testify truthfully, as she always has said she would and as she will with Mr. Blanche,' Markus wrote. 'The truth should not be feared or preemptively dismissed. No previous prosecutor from the Southern District of New York or elsewhere has had the courage to meet with Ms. Maxwell and ask her these important questions.' 'As for the Congressional subpoena, Ms. Maxwell is taking this one step at a time,' he added. 'She looks forward to her meeting with the Department of Justice, and that discussion will help inform how she proceeds.' Johnson said the House will go on its annual summer recess beginning Wednesday. The break comes as Representatives Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna — a Republican and Democrat, respectively — lead a charge to force a vote that would compel the Justice Department to release more information on Epstein. Earlier this month, the Justice Department and FBI released a memo claiming that Epstein did not have a client list, even though Attorney General Pam Bondi suggested it was on her desk months prior. The memo also confirmed the financier died by suicide while in jail in August 2019, after years of conspiracy theories surrounding his death. The memo stated there would be 'no further disclosure' related to the Epstein investigation. Trump has defended Bondi and his administration amid backlash from both sides of the aisle. He also directed Bondi to begin the process of unsealing grand jury testimony related to the Epstein investigation. The Justice Department has since requested that the testimony be unsealed. Judges in Florida and New York rejected the requests Wednesday.

Justice Department plans to reach out to Ghislaine Maxwell for a meeting
The Department of Justice said it plans to reach out to Ghislaine Maxwell for a meeting amid recent calls for the associate of Jeffrey Epstein to testify about the accused sex trafficker. 'Justice demands courage. For the first time, the Department of Justice is reaching out to Ghislaine Maxwell to ask: what do you know? At @AGPamBondi's direction, I've contacted her counsel. I intend to meet with her soon. No one is above the law—and no lead is off-limits,' Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in an X post on Tuesday. Blanche added in a statement posted by Attorney General Pam Bondi on social media that if 'Ghislane Maxwell has information about anyone who has committed crimes against victims, the FBI and the DOJ will hear what she has to say.' Maxwell's attorney David Oscar Markus told CNN, 'I can confirm that we are in discussions with the government and that Ghislaine will always testify truthfully. We are grateful to President Trump for his commitment to uncovering the truth in this case.' Maxwell was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison for carrying out a years-long scheme with Epstein to groom and sexually abuse underage girls. Blanche said they anticipate meeting with Maxwell soon. A potential meeting comes on the heels of a request from the Justice Department to a federal judge to make public years-old grand jury testimony against Epstein, which took place behind closed doors against Epstein. The Trump administration has faced increasing backlash over its handling of the Epstein files. Bondi had long promised to release as many documents in the Justice Department's possession as possible, but walked that promise back in a memo earlier this month announcing that there is no evidence Epstein kept a 'client list' or was murdered.

Epstein lawyer says Ghislaine Maxwell knows ‘everything' and should get immunity to testify to Congress
Jeffrey Epstein 's former defense lawyer wants the financier's co-conspirator, Ghislaine Maxwell, to receive immunity if she testifies before Congress. Maxwell, 63, is serving a 20-year prison sentence after she was convicted of child sex trafficking and other charges in 2021 in connection with Epstein. Now, attorney Alan Dershowitz says she 'knows everything' about Epstein's sex trafficking case and is prepared to testify before Congress — if she's granted immunity. 'She knows everything. She is the Rosetta Stone. She knows everything. She arranged every single trip with everybody. She knows everything,' Dershowitz said on Fox News Sunday. 'If she were just given use immunity, she could be compelled to testify,' he added. 'I'm told that she actually would be willing to testify, and there'd be no reason for her to withhold any information.' Epstein died by suicide in a New York City jail cell on August 10, 2019, while facing federal sex trafficking charges. He had pleaded guilty to separate prostitution charges in 2008. Dershowitz says he doesn't see 'any negative' in granting Maxwell immunity to discuss her co-conspirator. The Trump administration has come under heavy fire this month after the Justice Department and FBI said officials would not release any more evidence related to the Epstein investigation. The agencies also claimed that Epstein did not keep a 'client list,' even after Attorney General Pam Bondi suggested the document was on her desk months prior. Amid the backlash, Trump ordered Bondi to unseal grand jury testimony related to Epstein. The Justice Department filed that request with a federal judge on Friday. Meanwhile, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle are calling for the administration to release more information on Epstein.
