AU launches 'Beat the Heat with AU' initiative KUWAIT: In line with its commitment to corporate social responsibility and environmental responsibility, the Australian University (AU) launched its 'Beat the Heat with AU' initiative which aimed to support underprivileged gas station attendants. As part of the campaign, AU students and staff members visited numerous fuel stations across Kuwait to personally distribute durable and reusable water bottles to attendants, offering both immediate relief from the heat and a sustainable solution for hydration throughout the summer. The initiative witnessed active participation from AU's students and staff, who came together to show appreciation for those who endure high heat during Kuwait's intense summer. The campaign not only provided practical support but also encouraged environmental awareness by replacing single-use plastics with durable, eco-friendly alternatives. Commenting on the initiative, May Al Musallam, Senior Manager of Public Relations and Marketing at AU, said: 'This campaign was more than just distributing water bottles; it was a humanitarian message that expressed compassion and empathy, and encouraged genuine giving. We are proud of our students who embodied the spirit of generosity and responsibility.'

Women Across and New Horizon School Bahrain Join Hands for "Beat the Heat" Initiative

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and social responsibility, Women Across, in collaboration with New Horizon School Bahrain, successfully launched their 'Beat the Heat' initiative on June 12 at a construction site in Umm Al Hassam. The initiative aimed to provide essential summer relief to outdoor workers who endure long hours under the scorching sun. As part of this compassionate effort, a variety of refreshments and provisions were lovingly prepared and distributed to the labourers. These included caps, refreshing fruits, snacks, Laban, juices, and freshly baked cakes, all designed to offer comfort and hydration during the intense heat. The event was officially inaugurated by Mrs. Vandana Satheesh, Principal of New Horizon School, who actively participated in personally handing out the refreshments. Students from the school played a vital role, working alongside the Women Across team. This active involvement aimed to foster a culture of empathy, compassion, and community service among the young participants. "We believe in building not just academically strong students, but socially aware and kind-hearted individuals," stated Mrs. Satheesh. "This initiative provided our students with a meaningful experience and a valuable lesson in giving back to the community." Sumithra, Founder of Women Across, shared a heartfelt message, expressing her admiration for the students' involvement: "Watching these young students serve with such sincerity and care was truly inspiring. They are the heart of a kinder future, and we are proud to walk this path of compassion together with them." Women Across extended its sincere gratitude to Mr. Sayed Haneef, Founder of Light of Kindness, for his presence and continuous encouragement. Special thanks were also given to Mrs. Liji Syam, Non-Academic Coordinator of New Horizon School Bahrain, for her invaluable support and coordination, which ensured the smooth and successful collaboration. The organization also acknowledged their talented home bakers, Reshmi Anup and Surya, whose delicious cakes added a sweet and personal touch to the day. The dedicated Women Across team members who actively participated in this initiative were Simi Asok, Sowmya Latheesh, Jeny Philip, Manju Shaju, Jasma Vikas, Reeshma Vinod, Sitha Mahesh, Tintu Binu, Rekha Arjun, and Julie Shiju.

3 June 2025 12:36 ABU DHABI (WAM)Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) Tuesday announced the introduction of new innovative wearable safety technology in its annual Beat the Heat programme to prevent heat-related illness amongst industrial workers in the heat of the UAE illness is a hazard for anyone working outside in the UAE summer, and can be fatal if left untreated. Technology has the potential to make our Beat the Heat programme even more effective.'EGA's Beat the Heat campaign includes hydration testing before and during shifts, scheduled cooling breaks, access to cooling showers, and dedicated rest zones across EGA's operations. Employees and contractors use cooling booths, drinking water stations, icemakers, and portable air conditioning units to stay cool and hydrated throughout the day.
