9 New York Giants most likely to be involved in a training camp fight

The New York Giants will officially report for training camp on Tuesday, with their first full practice scheduled to get underway on Wednesday. From there, it's full steam ahead to cutdown down and the 2025 regular season. In addition to their usual camp practices, the Giants will also hold two joint sessions with the New York Jets in mid-August ahead of their preseason clash. One practice will be held in East Rutherford and the other in Florham Park. For the Giants, these will be the dog days of summer. And per usual, you can expect tempers to flare. Training camp is often the home to some fights, especially during joint practices, and 2025 promises to be no different. Here's a look at nine Giants players likely to be involved in a training camp fight (in no particular order). Dexter Lawrence Dexter Lawrence is a menace in the middle of the defense, and if he's taking a full slate of reps at camp, it's only a matter of time before his physical dominance and relentless trash talk get under someone's skin. Throw in 90-100 degree temperatures, and it's the perfect mixture for an altercation. The only remaining question is, who would dare want to throw down with Sexy Dexy? Cam Skattebo Assuming Cam Skattebo makes his return to the field as a full participant in camp, there's little doubt that the rookie's physical running style will rub some the wrong way. He also isn't one to shy away from an altercation, especially considering he has a chip on his shoulder and a desire to prove he belongs. James Hudson If we were to provide some betting odds, James Hudson would likely be among the favorites (even in this nine-player group) to engage in a training camp fight. Hudson already got into it with linebacker Brian Burns, who we'll discuss in a moment, during organized team activities (OTAs), and then back in 2023 with the Cleveland Browns, he threw hands with defensive end Ogbo Okoronkwo. Kayvon Thibodeaux Speaking of that fight at OTAs, Kayvon Thibodeaux was front and center. He exchanged blows with offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor, who had his helmet ripped off, and is no stranger to trash talk. Thibs and former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant engaged in a prolonged war of words this offseason, and when you throw in soaring temperatures, you can bet things will get tense. Brian Burns And now we circle back around to Brian Burns, who ran in from the sidelines to tackle Hudson in the aforementioned fight during OTAs. He was also on the field during several heated moments in 2024 when the Giants and Detroit Lions held joint practices -- ones that involved then-Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Greg Van Roten Offensive linemen are often center stage when fights break out, and on some levels, Greg Van Roten is no different. His physicality frustrated several Lions during their joint practices a year ago, and it was the cheap shot he took that really set things off. The veteran guard may not be out there looking to cause chaos, but he's not going to dial things back, either. Van Roten is a potential catalyst. Malik Nabers It's highly unlikely that Malik Nabers will get into it with one of his own teammates, especially given his importance to the offense. However, when the Giants and New York Jets meet for joint practices, all bets are off. Nabers engaged with Lions cornerback Kerby Joseph last season, setting off a string of massive brawls that resulted in both organizations enduring heavy fines. Theo Johnson/Abdul Carter This is strictly an in-house situation that encompasses two players, filling one spot. Theo Johnson and Abdul Carter are intense athletes who have a history dating back to their days at Penn State. Although the pair has a mutual respect for one another, both admit there is some "unfinished business" that needs to be settled. Nothing will start maliciously, but there is at least some small chance things escelate between these two. Jermaine Eluemunor Jermaine Eluemunor isn't backing down from anyone. He may seem like a gentle giant on social media, but as we mentioned earlier, he doesn't shy away from on-field scraps. He engaged with Thibodeaux during OTAs and regularly plays through the whistle. If he's shutting down an edge rusher consistently in hot weather, things are going to get testy.

Eli Manning not pursuing Giants ownership stake: ‘It's too expensive for me'

Eli Manning said he will not purchase a minority stake in the New York Giants, the team he spent his entire NFL career with, citing costs. 'Basically, it's too expensive for me,' Manning told CNBC on Wednesday. 'I mean, these numbers are getting very big.' When the interviewer asked about buying a one percent stake of the team, Manning said, 'Yeah, a one percent stake of something valued at $10 billion, you know, it turns into a very big number.' Advertisement Manning, who spent 16 seasons and won two Super Bowls with the Giants, explained that the conflicts of interest as a minority owner would impact his broadcasting work with ESPN. If Manning bought an ownership stake, he would face the same restrictions that former NFL quarterback and Fox broadcaster Tom Brady has as a part-owner of the Las Vegas Raiders. Brady is restricted from accessing other team facilities and practices, as well as broadcast production meetings, which usually include talking with coaches and players ahead of games. Manning said he wanted to be able to talk to players as a broadcaster and not have restricted access. He also cited his duties with the Manning Passing Academy, an event where he interacts with high school prospects and college quarterbacks, and coaching the Pro Bowl, as additional conflicts of interest if he became a Giants part-owner. The Giants rank fourth on Forbes' list of NFL team valuations with an estimated value of $7.3 billion. Meanwhile, Manning earned over $252 million during his Giants tenure, not including endorsement deals. Three years ago, he became a minority owner in the NWSL's NJ/NY Gotham FC along with then-Giants senior vice president and chief commercial officer Pete Guelli, who now works for the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres. Despite Manning passing on a Giants ownership stake, he said he will remain involved with the franchise in other capacities.

Super Bowl winner left in shock after Kay Adams' very special request at the Kentucky Derby

Super Bowl winner and Philadelphia Eagles star Cooper DeJean was taken aback when he found out a special request for him from NFL on-air host Kay Adams. The 39-year-old has been an NFL host for several years and constantly been linked with the personal lives of the players she covers, with DeJean being no exception. The duo saw each other over the weekend at the Kentucky Derby, with Adams saying she wanted a night on the town with the defensive back. DeJean found out in real time while being interviewed on a red carpet in Louisville. 'Someone said they want to hang out with you?' a red-carpet reporter relayed to DeJean. 'Me? Who said that? Kay Adams? I just saw her,' DeJean retorted. 'Yeah, she said she's willing to party,' the reporter, off-screen, continued. DeJean responded after a few moments with, 'Alright, I'm down!' Adams saying she wanted a night on the town with the Eagles star, with him saying he's down TRENDING: Kay Adams wanted to hang out with #Eagles star cornerback Cooper DeJean at the Kentucky Derby. 'Yeah, she said she's willing to party' Coop: 'Alright, I'm down' 😭😭😭 — MLFootball (@_MLFootball) May 4, 2025 DeJean won a Super Bowl in his only NFL season thus far, and has plenty of eyes on him as the Eagles look to repeat their title win come next season. The safety is reportedly dating Steph Wilfawn, with them being an item since last April. Last year, Adams was linked with dating quarterback Daniel Jones after she conducted an in-person interview with the then-Giants quarterback. The Kentucky Derby took place the same weekend as Formula One's showpiece of the Miami Grand Prix. While Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Gordon Ramsay, and Lisa chose to spend their time in Florida, DeJean, Adams, and others such as Livvy Dunne chose the big sporting event in Kentucky. Whether or not DeJean will ever take Adams up on her offer to party may never be known, even if he handled being approached by the request well under pressure.
