Never Botch Your July 4th Barbecue Again With Up to $70 Off the Smart Thermometers We Swear By
The Fourth of July may be over, but the holiday deals are trickling into the weekend, ahead of Prime Day. If your holiday cookout wasn't quite what you or your guests hoped, perhaps it's time to upgrade your grilling setup. A new thermometer could do the trick. It might be time to leave the instant-read thermometers aside and employ smarter wireless probes for constant monitoring and audible alerts to flip or remove your cuts.
Earlier this year, CNET writer and smart home guru Macy Meyer shared her devotion to her Chef iQ Sense smart thermometer, which included driving it across the country to avoid any mistakes when making dinner for her extended family. At the time, she was using the 2023 model, but the newly improved 2025 model has since debuted. The three-probe model is even cheaper than the old one this weekend, down to $150, for a $70 savings -- its lowest price to date. The single-probe system is also seeing its biggest discount ever, $50 off, for a sale price of $80.
While grilling is the obvious task for iQ Sense thermometers, they have plenty of indoor uses as well, from the oven to the fryer and even sous-vide. The single-probe system would probably be enough for anyone cooking dinner for two, but once you start juggling multiple types of meat at once on the smoker or trying to monitor salmon on the grill and crab cakes in the oven, the extra probes quickly prove themselves to be worth the upgrade.
iQ Sense's wireless charging cradle doubles as a smart hub. But while the Bluetooth may work up to 200 feet away, the Wi-Fi connectivity is much more reliable. Wi-Fi extends the alerts and real-time monitoring across your entire home, so you can go shuffle your laundry from the washer to the dryer in the basement and then head back up when it's time to rotate the racks and top off the wood chips.
Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.
The newest generation of probes for the iQ Sense are longer and contain an additional internal sensor, meaning each probe has four internal sensors measuring the temperature throughout your bulkier cuts. There's also an external temperature sensor to tell you if the gas in your grill has run out midroast.
The probes are still dishwasher-safe, and the smart base still runs up to 70 hours on a single charge, with a single minute of charging adding back multiple hours of use.

Why this deal matters
Meat thermometers, especially ones as fancy as the wireless Chef iQ Sense, don't go on sale often, and they're specialized kitchen accessories that can last for the better part of a decade if treated properly. Considering that this model is the first update the series has received since 2023, we don't expect to see it back down to these prices for months after Amazon Prime Day passes.
In short, don't wait too long to snag this deal, or it might dry up. We'll keep an eye on it throughout the holiday weekend and through Prime Week. If you're looking to complete your grilling setup, there are plenty of deals on grills and kitchen appliances going on right now.
