Thug who ran up and kicked girl, 6, in the head on a street and punched woman in face in random attacks jailed
A 'DANGEROUS' thug has been arrested after kicking a six-year-old girl in the street. The youngster was rushed to hospital after the 28-year-old targeted her on a busy street. 2 2 Caitalin Ganciu approached the unnamed girl in Millfield, Peterborough, and knocked her to the ground with a brutal kick. After striking her, he stopped to help her to her feet before fleeing the scene of the crime. The six-year-old was rushed to hospital after Ganciu made his escape. Later, a woman offered to help Ganciu after spotting him waving her arms. When she went into a nearby shop to get him some water, he followed her inside and punched her in the face. Ganciu then fled again, though police were able to pursue him. Before he was arrested, Ganciu viciously punched an officer in the abdomen. Eventually, he was bundled into the back of a police van where he violently kicked the vehicle's interior. Ganciu was hauled before Cambridge Crown Court on July 16 where he was handed a one year and seven month sentence. He pleaded guilty to two counts of actual bodily harm, one count of assault and one count of criminal damage. She said: 'This was an horrific series of unprovoked attacks by Ganciu, and I have no doubt that his actions will have a lasting impact on the victims. 'He is clearly a very dangerous man who has no respect for other people, or the law. "Ganciu caused minor injuries to all three of his victims, and the six-year-old girl had to be taken to hospital to be checked over. 'Violence like this is inexcusable, especially towards a young child, and I am pleased he is now behind bars.'

Moment cop punched in FACE by rampaging yob as she tried to break up broad-daylight street fight
WATCH the shocking moment a thug punches a cop in the face. Video footage shows a female police officer being attacked by a cowardly thug while he is detained. 3 3 The incident occurred in the Handsworth Wood area of Birmingham over the weekend. A man in a pink shirt is already being detained by police when another man brutally punches the woman holding him. The black-jacket clad thug then hits another man in a blue top next to him, as the detained pink-shirted man attempts to break free. Meanwhile the hurt police officer can be seen staggering backwards and holding her head. While the two men continue to fight, the man in the pink shirt kicks the car next to where he is detained. An onlooker can be heard saying: "What the f**k. Oh my God, she's just been hit. No way, no way. Oh my God." He adds: "They are going to have to call back up. It's women, that's not right, why have they not sent men?" Thankfully, the brave police officer quickly recovers to take control of the situation. After breaking the fight apart she manages to detain the hat-wearing assailant, while the third man in the blue top walks away. Both men can then be seen being held to the ground by the cops. One of the police officers radios for backup while pinning the men's arms behind them. A woman in a pink tracksuit decides to get involved in the tense moment, walking over to stand on the attacker's head. A sickening thud can be heard as his head smacks into the ground. The video has since gone viral on social media after it was uploaded by Birmz Is Grime. One commenter said: "All blokes standing about." Another added: "Instead of filming, why don't you go and help?" Others were satisfied by the video's ending, commenting "I'm so glad he got his karma in the end." While another wrote: "Taste of vigilante justice at the end." Some commenters suggested the women deserved a pay rise after seeing how difficult their job can be. West Midlands Police has been approached for comment.

Moment thug punches female officer in the face before she bravely brushes off the attack and pins him to the ground
This is the shocking moment a thug smacked a female police officer in the face as she attempted to arrest him. The officer was viciously attacked as she tried to break up a fight between two men in the Lozells area of Birmingham on Sunday afternoon. Her colleague can already be seen detaining one man in a pink t-shirt but as she approaches the two brawling males she is punched firmly in the face. The hurt officer can be seen staggering back and holding her head while the grey-haired yob returns to fighting with the other man. An onlooker can be heard saying: 'What the f**k. Oh my God, she's just been hit. No way, no way. Oh my God. 'They are going to have to call back up. It's women, that's not right, why have they not sent men?' The brave officer can be seen returning to grapple with her attacker, who is dressed in black and wearing a green cap. A second clip then shows the two female cops pinning both suspects to the ground while one radios for back-up. A woman dressed in pink walks over and appears to stamp on the head of the man had who punched the officer moments earlier and a sickening thud can be heard as his head hits the ground. The footage has since been viewed thousands of times after being uploaded to social media. One web user commented 'All blokes standing about' while another added: 'Instead of filming, why don't you go and help?' A fifth said 'and not one man who was watching came to these ladies defence' while another added: 'A pay rise for these two.' West Midlands Police said one officer was taken to hospital as a result of the attack. A force spokesman said: 'While responding to disorder on Heathfield Road, Lozells, shortly after 1.30pm on Sunday, two of our officers were assaulted. 'The officers were hurt and one was taken to hospital but thankfully her injuries are not life changing. Video footage also appeared to show the moment a woman allegedly stamped on one of the men's heads while they were being detained 'A police car was also damaged during the incident. 'The officers detained two men at the scene, and both were arrested. 'One, aged 27, is being questioned on suspicion of assault, assaulting a police officer, and criminal damage. 'The other man, aged 51, is being questioned on suspicion of assaulting a police officer. 'We do not tolerate violence against our officers and our investigation is continuing.' A police spokesman added it investigation was continuing over a woman allegedly seen stamping on one man's head.

Here is a roundup of the court cases we have covered in our region: A drugs kingpin used an old nightclub as part of huge underground 'farm' network to rake in millions with his crook associates across the Midlands and north west. Roman Le, 37, ran a the cannabis empire of at least eight farms in residential and commercial properties, as well as a storage facility housing both equipment and harvested cannabis plants. He had sourced the properties by falsely posing as property developer, buying or renting them. In some cases scaffolding was put up around the buildings, making it look like building work was taking place, to disguise the real use, a court heard. Working with co-defendants Yihao Feng, 29, from Manchester, and David Qayumi, 36, from Birmingham, to source and operate the properties. Among the properties they used was a disused nightclub in Coventry, a former pub in Birmingham, and an old hotel in Lancashire, the National Crime Agency said. Luke Matthews, 27, has been jailed after causing a deep knife wound to Steven James' right arm during a scuffle on Peter Street in Manchester city centre, near to Albert Schloss. Door staff from the city centre venue gave him first aid as he lay injured. James' girlfriend, who was present at the scene, was 'upset' that Matthews 'had been spreading rumours that he had been sleeping with her', Minshull Street Crown Court was told. James approached him 'aggressively' and produced the knife, which Matthews later picked up and proved to be the weapon which would inflict the serious injury. Police had been responding to reports of men taking class C drugs in the supermarket car park on Wilmslow Rad at around 11.45pm on January 25 of this year and asked that 19-year-old Harvey Bell remain in his Audi and turn off his engine. Instead, he reversed the car and, as a female officer approached the front windscreen, he then drove towards her, knocking her to the ground and drove over her legs with both sets of wheels before speeding away from the scene. The victim briefly lost consciousness and suffered a deep cut requiring hospital treatment alongside bruising, cuts and scratches to her leg and arm. Bell, of Bennet Drive in Knutsford, was traced and arrested by police the following day, January 26. He initially answered no comment in his interview but later pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and possession of cannabis. The 19-year-old appeared at Minshull Street Crown Court on Wednesday (June 4) where he was sentenced to 31 months in a Young Offenders Institute. He was also disqualified from driving for two years. Police found a 'significant amount' of crack cocaine and heroin valued at around £28,500 when they raided Veke Koissia Soumahoro's Bolton home in November 2024. In a GMP first, detectives also uncovered a Polymer80 'ghost gun' that had been assembled from a kit containing parts with no serial numbers. A 'ghost gun' is a viable weapon that is untraceable as it has no identifiers and can be made from a kit or from separate parts, or even a 3D printer. At a hearing at Bolton Crown Court on Tuesday (June 3), Soumahoro pleaded guilty to a slew of drugs and firearms offences and was sentenced to seven years and six months behind bars. Ethan Waters gibed his victim about his past boxing training, telling him 'you think you're hard', while drinking at someone's house. The 21-year-old left the flat, returning with a lock knife, before 'pulling' the victim off the sofa and violently slashing him across the face, telling him 'I'm going to kill you'. At a sentencing hearing on Monday (June 2), Manchester Crown Court heard the man was permanently scarred in the attack and, worried about frightening them, didn't see his children for a year. I'm going to kill you' A fugitive who fled to the Caribbean on the day he was to be sentenced for running the notorious 'Tommy' drugs line is behind bars after being extradited back to the UK. Nicholas Knowles, 32, from Ashton-under-Lyne, was the boss of the crime gang which ran the drugs line from 2013, supplying cocaine and heroin across Bury and beyond. At its height, the line was receiving a thousand texts and calls each week. Knowles, of Bowness Road, denied conspiracy to supply heroin and cocaine, but he was founding guilty following a four-week trial at Bolton Crown Court in 2018. While on bail, he faked illness to avoid going to court for his sentencing hearing and then fled the country. He was handed a 13-and-a-half-year prison sentence in his absence. But today (June 2, 2025) Greater Manchester Police confirmed that, following an international manhunt, Knowles was captured in the Caribbean and extradited back the UK to face justice. He is now behind bars after being handed a further 34 weeks behind bars for his escape. Read the full story here: He ran the lucrative 'Tommy' drugs line even from a police cell - then fled to the Caribbean Four dealers who ran a 'very profitable' drugs ring on Telegram were branded 'silly little boys playing at being gangsters' as they were jailed for their crimes. Omar Abu Sharkh, Mohammed Aftab, Sufiaan Ali, all 20, and Qais Rasul, 19, sold vapes containing THC and synthetic cannabinoids, class B drugs. Police said the vapes were being sold 'primarily to children'. The probe was sparked after a 14-year-old boy was seen leaving a property connected with the outfit. Minshull Street Crown Court heard that the four had been 'very frank' after being caught, in admitting they 'did it for money'. Noting it was a 'highly profitable drug enterprise', Judge Jason MacAdam told them: 'You all, with the exception of Mr Rasul, had the benefit of proper upbringings. Parents in the community who have supported you all, and they expected more of you. 'You have let them all down. You were silly little boys playing at being gangsters. Do you really want to be like that? Scum of the earth, playing no positive contribution to society? Your parents expect far more." The shooter, who has never been found, blasted the house on Slade Lane in Levenshulme. Jamaal Khan, 24, has now been jailed for driving the gunman to and from the scene of the shocking crime. He then left the getaway car - which police said was a silver Peugeot 307 bought for £330 - and instructed others where as to its location, so could be torched in a bid to destroy evidence. Amazing moment heroic shop worker fights off knife-wielding robber with his bare hands after thug threatened his female colleague
This is the shocking moment a hero shop worker fought off a knife-wielding robber with his bare hands after the thug threatened a female colleague. The masked crook stole cash and cigarettes during the raid at Gedney Newsagent in Market Place, Long Sutton, Lincolnshire. CCTV shows the thug entering the shop just after 5.30am on March 29 and asking to buy cigarettes. As the female worker places the pack on the counter, the thief waves a large knife in her direction before grabbing cash from the till. Another member of staff bravely charges at the offender and appears to try and punch and slap him despite the robber holding a blade. The thief then flees the shop as the woman behind the till calls police on her mobile phone. Detectives have released CCTV of the robbery and say they hope someone will recognise the robber from his unusual walk. A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: 'Although the man has his face covered, we believe he has a unique gait and maybe someone will recognise the clothing he is wearing. 'Shortly after 5.30am a man wearing a black face covering, a black jacket with his hood up and two-tone grey trousers appears to threaten a women behind the counter in the newsagents with a knife. 'He was handed cash and cigarettes before fleeing from the store in the direction of West Street, Long Sutton. 'We are grateful to the people who called in with information following our first appeal and we are working on other lines of inquiry as a result. 'However, the identity of the man remains unknown and we are appealing for our communities help to identify him.'
