Attacker charged over Berlin Holocaust memorial stabbing
The suspect, a refugee partially identified as Wassim Al M., is said to have seriously injured the 30-year-old man at the landmark in the German capital in February. It was one of a series of attacks blamed on foreign nationals that fuelled a bitter debate about immigration in the run-up to Germany's general election. The suspect "shares the ideology of the foreign terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS)" and has "radical Islamist and antisemitic views", federal prosecutors said in a statement. He had travelled from the eastern city of Leipzig, where he had been living, to Berlin to target "alleged infidels, whom he regarded as representatives of a Western form of society that he rejected", prosecutors said. Shortly before the stabbing, the suspect, who was 19 at the time, sent a photo of himself to IS members so the group could claim responsibility for the attack, they said. Advertisement The tourist, from the Basque Country in northern Spain, was wounded in the neck during the attack at Berlin's Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, a sombre grid of concrete steles located near the Brandenburg Gate and the US embassy. The suspect, who was arrested shortly after the attack and is in pre-trial detention, has also been charged with causing serious bodily harm and attempted membership of a foreign terrorist organisation. Officials said previously he had arrived in Germany in 2023. The attack was one of several which shocked Germany ahead of the general election, which saw a doubling in the vote-share for the far-right, anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD). The election was won by the centre-right CDU/CSU, which has since taken power at the head of a coalition and moved swiftly to introduce stricter curbs on immigration. The new government under Chancellor Friedrich Merz has signalled it is trying to resume deportations to Syria, which have been suspended since 2012. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now This marks a monumental milestone, coming nearly nine years after his initial debut with NCT 127 in July 2016. According to Maeil Business Star Today, Haechan will release his first solo album in September 2025. The announcement sent shockwaves through social media, with hashtags trending worldwide as NCTzens (NCT fans) and Sunflowers (Haechan's dedicated fanbase) erupted in celebration across platforms. What makes this even more special is the journey leading up to this moment. Haechan had previously mentioned in 2022 that he wasn't ready to think about solo activities, preferring to focus on group endeavors. However, by 2024, the talented artist revealed during a Weverse live session that he had already begun preparing songs for his eventual solo debut. The transformation from "not ready" to "actively preparing" showcases Haechan's artistic evolution and growing confidence as a solo performer. Industry insiders suggest that his change of heart came after witnessing the successful solo ventures of his fellow NCT members, particularly Mark's acclaimed debut with "200" in 2024. The Multi-Talented Artist Ready to Shine Alone Haechan's musical prowess extends far beyond his group activities with NCT 127, , and NCT U. The versatile performer has already showcased his individual artistry through various OST contributions, including "Good Person" for the drama "Plens Seoyeon University's 22nd Class" (2022) and "Why I Like You" for "Please Take Care of My Week". His ability to seamlessly transition between NCT's different sub-units while maintaining his distinctive musical identity has positioned him perfectly for this solo venture. The anticipation for Haechan's solo work has been building steadily, especially after SM Entertainment included his solo debut in their 2025 music lineup preview. Fans have even coined the term "HOLO" (Haechan Solo) to refer to this highly anticipated project, with #HAECHANSOLO2025 trending for over 24 hours on social media platforms. What's particularly exciting is how Haechan has been dropping subtle hints about his solo preparations throughout 2024. During various interviews and live sessions, he mentioned experimenting with different musical styles and working closely with producers to find his unique sound. This meticulous preparation suggests that his debut album will be a carefully crafted artistic statement rather than a rushed project. Balancing Group Success with Individual Ambitions Despite his upcoming solo venture, Haechan continues to maintain his commitments to NCT's various activities. The multi-talented artist recently completed NCT 127's fourth world tour "NEO CITY - THE MOMENTUM" and participated in NCT DREAM's fourth world tour "THE DREAM SHOW 4: DREAM THE FUTURE" Seoul performances alongside their fifth studio album "Go Back To The Future" promotions. NCT DREAM's tour schedule remains packed, with performances scheduled across major Asian cities. The group will perform in Bangkok on August 16-17, 2025, followed by shows in Hong Kong, Jakarta, Singapore, Saitama, Taipei, Kuala Lumpur, Osaka, and Nagoya. These performances will take place at some of Asia's most prestigious venues, including Bangkok's Rajamangala National Stadium, Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium, and Jakarta International Stadium. This busy schedule demonstrates Haechan's remarkable ability to juggle multiple commitments while preparing for his solo debut. Industry observers note that this balancing act reflects his dedication to both his group responsibilities and personal artistic growth. The fact that he can maintain such high performance standards across all his activities speaks volumes about his professionalism and work ethic. Interestingly, Haechan has mentioned that his group experiences have actually enhanced his solo preparations. Working with different producers across NCT's various projects has exposed him to diverse musical styles and production techniques, all of which he plans to incorporate into his solo work. The September Countdown and Fan Expectations As September approaches, global K-pop fans are eagerly anticipating how Haechan will translate his distinctive musical style and emotional depth into his solo work. The album is expected to showcase his unique musical color and artistic sensibility, elements that have made him a standout performer within NCT's diverse roster. Haechan's journey from a 16-year-old trainee to a seasoned performer ready for solo stardom represents years of artistic development and personal growth. His experience across multiple NCT sub-units has provided him with a rich musical foundation, spanning various genres and performance styles that will likely influence his solo direction. The September release positions Haechan strategically in the competitive second half of 2025, with industry insiders suggesting he's aiming to establish himself as a prominent solo artist - earning the title of "solo king" for the latter half of the year. This ambitious goal reflects both his confidence in his artistic vision and the strong foundation built through years of group success. Music industry analysts predict that Haechan's solo debut could potentially reshape the landscape of K-pop solo artists. His unique position as a member of one of K-pop's most successful groups, combined with his individual charisma and vocal abilities, creates a perfect storm for commercial and critical success. With his proven track record, distinctive vocal abilities, and dedicated fanbase spanning the globe, Haechan's solo debut promises to be one of the most significant K-pop releases of 2025. As fans count down to September, the anticipation continues to build for what could be a career-defining moment for one of K-pop's most beloved voices. The excitement is palpable, and if the early fan reactions are any indication, Haechan's solo debut might just be the musical event that defines the latter half of 2025 in the K-pop world.

Miami Dolphins Top 10 players countdown: De'Von Achane No. 5, may be most important
Editor's Note: This is part of a Countdown to Training Camp: Dolphins 2025 series. We'll unveil two players in the Dolphins' top 10 in each of the coming weeks. MIAMI GARDENS — Miami Dolphins running back De'Von Achane feels he left a lot of yards on the field in 2024, and so he's aiming even higher for 2025. "As far as in the rush game, I always want to try to hit 1,000 yards," Achane said. "And then 500 yards receiving. I feel like I can do that." Achane is one of the fastest players in the NFL and he's one of the most skilled receivers out of the backfield, which make him a perfect fit for Mike McDaniel's offense. "Ascending player," Dolphins coach McDaniel said. Miami has moved on from veterans Raheem Mostert and Jeff Wilson. Achane is the lead back now, supported by Jaylen Wright, Alexander Mattison and rookie Ollie Gordon. It could be argued Achane is as important among Dolphins weapons as Tyreek Hill or Jaylen Waddle. Why De'Von Achane is fifth-best Miami Dolphins player Achane, 23, is only 5-foot-9, 188 pounds, but he's strong and blazing fast. After a remarkable rookie season in which he averaged 7.8 yards per carry, Achane fell back to 4.5 yards per carry in his second season. The biggest problem is that Achane took too many rushes for no gain or loss, trying to make big plays that simply were not available. The addition of guards James Daniels and Jonah Savaiinaea should benefit Achane, who would actually be better off doing more of his work between the tackles. Achane has Pro Bowl potential. Nationally, he's expected to put up huge numbers. Some even have Achane ranked in their top three among fantasy football running backs. Telling Stat Only one player has ever had more than 750 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in a Dolphins season: De'Von Achane in 2024. How we see De'Von Achane's Dolphins future Achane is the unquestioned lead back for the Dolphins in 2025. He'll have to show continued durability – he played all 17 games in 2024 – with an increased workload. Achane can be soft-spoken and polite. But McDaniel views him as a player ready to take a step forward as a leader. "The first person that pretty much any skill player has to answer to if they maybe drop something or get gloved when running a route – first person they're going to have to answer to is De'Von," McDaniel said. "because he's going to be quick trigger. I think that competitiveness that he has is natural to him." Joe Schad: Miami Dolphins seek 'new identity' for 2025, but what is it? Miami Dolphins Top 10 players countdown: Edge Bradley Chubb is No. 6
Editor's Note: This is part of a Countdown to Training Camp: Dolphins 2025 series. We'll unveil two players in the Dolphins' top 10 in each of the coming weeks. MIAMI GARDENS — After missing all of last season following knee surgery, Bradley Chubb was asked his level of excitement to return to the field for the Miami Dolphins in 2025. "Ten out of 10," Chubb said with a smile during organized team activities. Chubb has 13.5 sacks in 24 games as a Dolphin. When healthy, he gets to the quarterback and creates turnovers. There's a reason why the Dolphins yielded a first-round pick to the Broncos for the two-time Pro Bowler in 2022. "He loves the game," outside linebackers coach Ryan Crow said. "He wants to be involved and he's been cooking these last couple weeks. He's getting himself ready and certainly he's eager to rock and roll." Why Bradley Chubb is sixth-best Miami Dolphins player Chubb has power and speed and also holds up against the run. Chubb, 28, is a complete outside linebacker. He's just had injury woes. "I'm a warrior, man," Chubb said of what he's learned about himself. "Not even in the sense of football, just in the sense of life. When things came and knocked me down and I had setbacks, in the moment it's like, 'Oh man,' but when you take a step back and really see it for what it is and see what God is trying to tell you in that moment, that helped me out a lot throughout this process." Chubb will be a key team leader on defense this season. Chubb is well-liked by his teammates and delivers consistent effort. The combination of Chubb, Jaelan Phillips and Chop Robinson gives Miami a chance to offset an inexperienced and depleted secondary. Telling stat In 2023, his last healthy season, Chubb led the NFL with six forced fumbles. He has forced 13 fumbles in his career. How we see Bradley Chubb's Dolphins future Chubb took a pay cut this offseason to avoid release. He wants to be in Miami. And certainly Chubb wants to show Miami and the NFL he can stay healthy in 2025. In an ideal world, Chubb bounces back and stays on board for 2026, with the team revisiting his future before the 2027 season, his final under contract with the club.
