Tornado warning ends for parts of central Alberta
A tornado warning has ended for an area southwest of Edmonton. The warning, issued at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, covered Wolf Lake, Cynthia, Brazeau Dam, Drayton Valley, Breton, Alder Flats and Winfield. The warning has since been downgraded to a tornado watch. In the event of a tornado, Environment Canada said it's recommended you take the following actions: Go indoors to a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet. Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelter, and move to a strong building if you can. As a last resort, lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris. Many parts of the province are currently under a heat warning. There are several other severe thunderstorm watches and tornado watches in effect in Alberta.

National Weather Service Puts 2 U.S. States On Tornado Watch Wednesday
National Weather Service Puts 2 U.S. States On Tornado Watch Wednesday originally appeared on The Spun. If you thought tornado season in the United States was on its last legs, think again. On Tuesday, the National Weather Service placed parts of Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas on tornado watch. There was also a tornado warning issued for Colorado and Wyoming. Less than 24 hours later, the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for parts of Illinois and Missouri. This will be in effect until 4 p.m. local time. "Tornadoes are possible in and near the watch area," the National Weather Service states. "Review and discuss your emergency plans, take inventory of your supplies and check your safe room. Be ready to act quickly if a warning is issued or you suspect a tornado is approaching. Acting early helps to save lives! Watches are issued by the Storm Prediction Center for counties where tornadoes may occur. The watch area is typically large, covering numerous counties or even states." Illinois and Missouri could deal with scattered gusts up to 70 MPH. These two states will also be on alert for two-inch hail. Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe has already signed legislation that'll send $100 million to St. Louis for tornado recovery relief. There were plenty of families impacted by the tornado outbreak that swept through north St. Louis earlier this year. We're certainly hoping Missouri avoids any serious damage this Wednesday. As always, stay alert for tornado updates from the National Weather Weather Service Puts 2 U.S. States On Tornado Watch Wednesday first appeared on The Spun on Jun 18, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Jun 18, 2025, where it first appeared.
