Bryce James Reveals Unfortunate Prediction About LeBron James' Future Amid Trade Rumors
Bryce James Reveals Unfortunate Prediction About LeBron James' Future Amid Trade Rumors originally appeared on Athlon Sports. LeBron James stirring up rumors about his future is seemingly a pastime for the four-time MVP. Advertisement Earlier this offseason, James opted into a $52.6 million player option with the Los Angeles Lakers. It was a move that many assumed meant there was nothing to question regarding his future with the team, only for his agent Rich Paul to do an interview with ESPN and hint that James and the Lakers are on two different pages. James has since been involved in both trade and retirement rumors as Paul made it clear James wants to push for a title, leading to beliefs that next season is his last hoorah. Something that a viral video featuring James saying that his wife, Savannah, wants him to retire has only fueled. While it has always been tough to predict what is next for him, his younger son Bryce James may have accidentally leaked how many more seasons his dad plans to play. When taking part in an Instagram Live, the younger James was asked if he thinks his dad will play in the NBA long enough to team up with him after his career at the University of Arizona. Advertisement "I ain't gonna lie that's OD," James said. "Waiting until that's too much." When three-star 2026 recruit Dezhon Hall, who was in the live with James asked what he meant, the future Wildcat elaborated on why he thinks his father won't be around in the NBA by then. "They said my dad still gonna be in the league when I get drafted," James said. "That's too much. No. No. Cause gonna be 42 bro." Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James (6) poses for photos with his sons Bronny and Bryce Maximus, daughter Zhuri, wife Savannah and mother A. Vasquez-Imagn Images If the younger James went the one-and-done route like his brother and current Lakers Bronny James did at USC, his father would be turning 42 in what would be his 24th NBA season. So, with that in mind, it appears the consensus around the James family is that 2025-25 will be the Lakers star's final year. Advertisement As for the chances of Bryce going one-and-done, the three-star averaged just eight points and 4.2 rebounds a game, according to ESPN and is in a class with multiple five-stars. It could be a similar situation to his brother's path, but it ultimately depends on where the older Jmaes is at that time. Sidney Crosby-to-Canadiens Speculation Grows Because of ESPN Insider
Sidney Crosby-to-Canadiens Speculation Grows Because of ESPN Insider originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby's trade speculation is heating up again, and this time, rumors point toward a move to the Montreal Canadiens. Advertisement NHL insider Greg Wyshynski appeared on "The Sheet with Jeff Marek" on Monday and said that, in his eyes, if Crosby ever leaves Pittsburgh, it's the Canadiens who remain as the team to watch. 'I've long believed that Sidney Crosby will end his career in Montreal,' Wyshynski said. 'If he's gonna go anywhere and he's gonna try to do something spectacular, (that's) being part of the legacy and lineage of the Montreal Canadiens, being part of a team that's got upward trajectory and have a good chance, maybe (win) a late career championship with a team that hasn't won since 1993. "I always assumed if it wasn't Pittsburgh, it would be Montreal." Advertisement Crosby led the Penguins with 91 points in 80 games last season and remains under contract through the 2026-27 season. The superstar center signed a two-year, $17.4 million extension on Sept. 16, but with the Penguins' playoff drought reaching three years, there's been growing speculation about a potential trade before his contract and career are over. Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby is under contract through the 2026-27 Bolte-Imagn Images Fellow insider Nick Kypreos also weighed in on Crosby's future at the start of free agency, saying on Sportsnet 590 that Crosby's exit could come after the 2026 Winter Olympics. '(Crosby) is too good right now to just be a babysitter for the next three years,' Kypreos said. 'This guy can play peak (hockey)." Advertisement While no deal is imminent, Kypreos believes Crosby's level still deserves playing for a contender, and he pointed toward Montreal as his final destination. 'Wait till they get Sid Crosby after the Olympics,' Kypreos said. "I'm liking the odds a little better than I did maybe a few weeks ago." Lakers Predicted To Trade LeBron And Bronny To Warriors; Lakers Fans Would Be Upset With Potential Return
Lakers Predicted To Trade LeBron And Bronny To Warriors; Lakers Fans Would Be Upset With Potential Return originally appeared on Fadeaway World. The trade rumors surrounding the Los Angeles Lakers and LeBron James have been heating up lately, especially with the moves the Lakers have made to improve their roster. With NBA insider Kevin O'Connor weighing in on trade rumors on "The Kevin O'Connor Show", the insider presented a radical trade proposal that would undoubtedly make Lakers fans unhappy. Advertisement While speaking on the topic, O'Connor said: "If you really want to get crazy, you could say that the KD to Houston deal involving Phoenix is not done yet. You could still add three teams or four teams. But I like to think about, well, Phoenix wanted Butler. So maybe you send LeBron and Bronny James to Golden State, Jimmy Butler to Phoenix, Kevin Durant to Houston, and then Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks to the Lakers." Kevin Durant's trade to the Houston Rockets has been the defining move of the offseason. With one of the most formidable scoring forces joining the Rockets, Houston has transformed into a powerhouse in the Western Conference. As an outcome of that trade, the Suns acquired Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green along with five second-round picks. But some speculation has suggested that the team could look to flip the new arrivals, with Brooks being the primary element. Advertisement O'Connor's wild trade idea was quickly dismissed by co-panelist Jovan Buha, who added how upset Lakers fans would be with this proposal. As per the trade idea, the Lakers would be facilitating Kevin Durant's move to Houston by sending LeBron James and Bronny James to the Golden State Warriors. In return, the Lakers receive Green and Brooks, while the Suns land Jimmy Butler. While this isn't necessarily a means of underselling what the two former Rockets players bring to the table, the notion of replacing James has to be treated differently. Even at 40 years old, James is one of the most productive players in the league. Having averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game last season, the Lakers' star continues to put up phenomenal numbers even at this stage in his career. Advertisement Meanwhile, the pair of Green and Brooks, who are much younger, pale in comparison. Last season was a bit of a breakout year for the Rockets' guard. In a solid outing, the 23-year-old averaged 21.0 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game. Brooks is a seasoned veteran, but his role is far different from that of Green or James. His averages of 14.0 points and 3.7 rebounds would be impressive in any other context. But in comparison to the Lakers' star, it falls short. The idea of James joining the Warriors is an interesting one, all the same. A potential partnership with Stephen Curry has been teased on multiple occasions, but to no avail. Advertisement Should such a trade go through, the Golden State Warriors would undoubtedly become a title-contender, something that would align with the forward's championship aspirations. As things stand, only a handful of teams have inquired about James' availability in trade talks. Bronny Expresses His Feelings On LeBron James' Trade Rumors Away From Lakers
Bronny Expresses His Feelings On LeBron James' Trade Rumors Away From Lakers originally appeared on Fadeaway World. LeBron James is potentially getting traded this summer. So many writers may have written this over his 23-year career, but there was rarely any substance to those rumors until now. The 40-year-old Lakers veteran picked up the $52.6 million player option that sent the rumor mill on a tailspin. Advertisement Following Rich Paul's statement clarifying James' intentions with the team upon picking up this player option, the whole NBA world started discussing the possibility of James getting traded this summer. His son, Bronny James, who was drafted by the Lakers last season to fulfill his father's wish of playing with him on the same team before retiring, could now also be on the move if his father decides to request a trade. He was asked what he felt about these trade rumors. 'Yeah actually, one of my friends called me, talking about what I was going to do cause they've seen my dad---whatever, I didn't see it, he called me, I was like 'Yeah I have no idea what you're talking about'--- I don't really pay attention to that stuff. There's a lot of stuff going around that I don't really pay attention to.' When asked whether he got a sense of what LeBron's intentions were from the way the Lakers may have addressed it as a franchise in internal team talks, he clarified that James said nothing about it, at least to him. Advertisement 'We don't really talk about much, but I think when stuff like that comes up, he just tells me to not worry about it, not even pay attention to it, just lock in to what you have going on right now. And that's what's going to keep me better and make me focused, so it's good that he tells me not to pay attention to that stuff.' Will Bronny James Stay With The Lakers? Bronny James averaged 2.3 points, 0.8 assists, and 0.7 rebounds in 27 games played for the Lakers in 2024-25. After James, on multiple occasions, expressed his desire to play with his son on the same team, many analysts believed that the only reason the Lakers drafted Bronny was to please his father, LeBron James. Now that James no longer has that influence on the front office moves, and he may be on his way out of the team, the next question that comes to mind is about Bronny's future in the league. Bronny James is entering the second year of a four-year, $7.8 million, rookie contract in which three years are guaranteed and the last year is a team option. Many analysts are assuming that in a trade of LeBron James, his son Bronny would also be leaving the Lakers. While that may not be true, considering that James also wants to play with Bryce on the same team, potentially, if possible, then he would like Bronny to also join him on the team where he will be headed, if he requests a trade. Advertisement As of now, Bronny is locked into working hard to fight for a spot in the rotation as a Lakers player. He has indicated that his father has not included him in any trade discussions so far, and he doesn't know if those discussions are happening or not in the first place. He is currently focused on building his future with the Lakers. Islanders Defenseman Denies Flyers Trade Rumors
The Flyers were never interested in trading for Alexander Romanov. (Photo: Eric Hartline, Imagn Images) The NHL trade rumors have been strong with the Philadelphia Flyers this summer, but New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov has taken an opportunity to clear the air. Previously, it was reported that the Flyers, along with the Boston Bruins, were interested in trading for Romanov, still an RFA at the time. Advertisement Instead, the 25-year-old Russian signed an eight-year, $50 million contract ($6.25 million AAV), tying him down in Long Island in 2033, when he'll be 33 years old. 'I was shocked when I heard [the trade rumors]. I immediately texted [agent] Dan Milstein and asked, 'What is this?' He told me it wasn't true,' Romanov told RG's Sergey Demidov in a recent interview. 'Both Boston and Philly are already set on the left side of their defense. From what I understand, they weren't even interested.' And, Romanov is right in his assessment of the Flyers, given the team's steadfast commitment to reaching an agreement with RFA defenseman Cam York. Flyers Trade Rumors: Alexander Romanov Makes Sense, But at What Cost? Flyers Trade Rumors: Alexander Romanov Makes Sense, But at What Cost? The Advertisement Philadelphia Flyers are reportedly interested in New York Islanders defenseman Alexander Romanov, but at what point is paying the cost of the NHL trade market worth it? Even with Travis Sanheim already playing on the right side, the Flyers still have York, Nick Seeler, Egor Zamula, and Emil Andrae occupying the left. Plus, when accounting for the contract Romanov just signed and the additions of Dan Vladar and Christian Dvorak in the opening hours of NHL free agency, the Flyers would be roughly $700k over the salary cap had they acquired Romanov and re-signed him. Romanov would have been a fun add to the Flyers given his pugilistic playstyle, but, logistically, things got hairy for the Flyers rather quickly. Plus, it takes two to tango, and the Flyers were apparently never interested to begin with.
