A young child was struck and killed by a train near Keil Drive in Chatham, according to Chatham-Kent Police Service. In a news release on Wednesday police said the collision happened just after 1 a.m. on Saturday. According to police, emergency services were dispatched to the railway tracks after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck by a passing train. Upon arrival, emergency crews found a young child who had sustained critical injuries, police said in the release, and "despite the life-saving efforts of first responders, the child was pronounced dead at the scene." "Our hearts are broken for the family and loved ones affected by this unimaginable tragedy," said Sgt. Jason Herder of the Traffic Management Unit. "We ask the community to keep them in their thoughts during this incredibly difficult time." Police say the identity of the child will not be released to respect the privacy of the family. In light of this incident, support services have been made available to the family and first responders.

She's been identified by her family as Isabella Brady. Brady's friend spoke with WBZ-TV and remembered her as a kind person who always looked out for her. She said Brady was wearing headphones at the time she was hit. "She was like, 'I'm on the train tracks, I'm with my friends.' She said I'll call you after that happened," said Brady's friend. "She never called me back." The Framingham/Worcester Line on the Commuter Rail operates on the train tracks where Brady was struck. The incident is being investigated by Transit Police but they said foul play is not suspected.

The teen was with a group of other young people who were trespassing on the Framingham/Worcester Line when the crash occurred, transit police told MassLive. The girl who was hit by the train was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Fox affiliate WFXT. Her identity has not been made public. Foul play is not suspected in connection with the incident, WFXT and ABC affiliate WCVB-TV reported. An investigation into the incident is ongoing. 'On behalf of the Transit Police and the entire MBTA organization we offer our most heartfelt condolences to the decedent's family and friends,' transit police said in a statement obtained by local news outlets. They added, 'Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this most unimaginable difficult and profound tragedy.' The crash occurred in an area where some residences and warehouses are located, according to the Worcester Telegram. One of the warehouses is near a path that leads to the train tracks. Woman fatally hit by Amtrak train in Plano, Illinois, identified

A woman who was hit and killed by an Amtrak train Thursday night in Plano, Illinois, has been identified. Plano police said just before 9 p.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian who was hit near the BNSF tracks in the 800 block of West Main Street. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The Kendall County Coroner's Office identified her as 48-year-old Mitzi L. Montgomery of Plano. The office determined that she died due to blunt force trauma as a result of the crash. BNSF, Amtrak investigators, Little Rock Fox fire crews, and the Kendall County Coroner assisted police. The tracks reopened around 11:13 p.m. following an investigation. The crash remains under investigation by the Plano Police Department.
