Florian Wirtz reaches verbal agreement with Bayern Munich amid Manchester City interest

A verbal agreement between Bayern Munich and Florian Wirtz (21) has been reached, according to a report from Foot Mercato. Bayern Munich are long-term admirers of the German international with their pursuit counted in months and years, not weeks. This could be the summer that they finally get their man. Foot Mercato understands that Wirtz has reached a verbal agreement on personal terms with the Bavarian club. German media have already reported that the attacking midfielder has opted to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season. However, for now, there is not yet an agreement between Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen. Advertisement Bayer are still trying to extend Wirtz's contract; his current deal runs until 2027. However, there is a strong likelihood of a departure, either to Bayern Munich or elsewhere. Manchester City and Real Madrid are still trying to convince the player of a move with the former reportedly open to spending over €100m on the German. GFFN | Luke Entwistle

Sunderland deal Inter and Milan blow in Xhaka pursuit

Tuesday's reports claim that newly-promoted Premier League side Sunderland have an agreement in place with Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Granit Xhaka, which comes as a blow to both Inter and Milan, who have been studying potential moves for the former Arsenal man according to reports in Italy. As per David Ornstein of The Athletic, Xhaka has informed his current employers that he only wants to join Sunderland this summer and that there is now an agreement in place between the Switzerland international and the Black Cats. There is no final agreement between the clubs in place as things stand, but the player has reportedly asked Leverkusen to find a 'solution' with Sunderland as swiftly as possible. What Sunderland-Xhaka agreement means for Milan, Inter and Juventus Xhaka is still under contract with Leverkusen until the summer of 2028, but has been seeking a move away from the BayArena after what he considers to be the end of an era following the departures of head coach Xabi Alonso and star players Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong. Reports in Italy earlier in the summer claimed that Milan was among the potential destinations for Xhaka, but the Rossoneri have since landed on Luka Modric and Samuele Ricci instead and are now unlikely to return to the negotiating table for the Swiss. Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport over the weekend claimed that Inter would prioritise a move for the 32-year-old in the event that Hakan Calhanoglu ends up leaving this window, which now also appears unlikely with the Sunderland agreement in place. There had also been brief reports that Juventus were also among the Serie A sides interested in striking a deal with the Switzerland international this summer.

Juventus open talks with La Liga giants for 27-year-old defender

Atletico Madrid's busy summer continues. While much of the attention has been taken up by a series of widely praised signings, namely Johnny Cardoso, Alex Baena and Matteo Ruggeri, Los Colchoneros will also have one eye on the exit door, as they seek to balance their squad. One player who seems on the threshold is Nahuel Molina. The World Cup-winner arrived as a big-money signing from Udinese three years ago, with Atletico spending €20m to finally solve their right-back issues after the exit of Kieran Trippier. However as time as gone on, Marcos Llorente has increasingly been installed as the go-to right-back. Juventus talks with Atletico Madrid It has been established that both player and club are open to a move, with Atletico also needing to free up a non-European spot that Molina also occupies following the arrival of Thiago Almada. GdS (via Diario AS) explain that Juventus have opened talks with Atletico for Molina, who has two years left on his deal. Image via EFE / Mariscal They say Atletico are asking for €25-30m, but the Bianconeri will try to bring that figure down. That may even include offering players, or player loans, with Dusan Vlahovic, Weston McKennie or Nico Gonzalez. Moving parts for Atletico Madrid However Molina's exit could be slowed by Atletico if they do not feel the offer is sufficient. It appears they may miss out on Jesus Areso, who in theory would have competed with Llorente for the starting spot. It is not yet clear whether that could affect Atletico's willingness to sell. Alternative options for Molina Meanwhile Juventus are unlikely to be the only side interested, with Villarreal having already made it clear they want Molina on a loan deal. No doubt depending on what money they can make though, Atletico would prefer a sale, given he would have to be offered a new deal that would take him into his thirties after this summer in all likelihood.

Report – Inter Milan Contact RB Leipzig Over Netherlands Star Forward

Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio is in direct contact with the agents of RB Leipzig starlet Xavi Simons. According to TMW via FCInter1908, talks are ongoing as the Italians view the Dutchman as a potential target. Despite these talks, Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman remains the club's highest priority. Indeed, Inter will only turn to other options if they fail to sign the 27-year-old Nigerian. However, Ausilio likes to keep an open mind. Inter Milan Make Contact with RB Leipzig Starlet Xavi Simons After Lois Openda, Inter have taken an interest in another Leipzig star. Yet, Xavi Simons would be a far more lucrative investment, considering he is only 22 and has a host of admirers. That will not discourage Inter. And neither will the interest from several Premier League clubs. On the other hand, Leipzig may even consider offers for the Barcelona academy graduate. Indeed, with Simons' contract expiring in 2027, the Germans believe they could get a maximum price this summer. While the figures remain unknown, it's hard to expect Simons to cost less than Lookman.
