10 Seasonal Style Picks You Need in Your Summer Travel Wardrobe—From $20 at Amazon
This year's summer fashion trends have been dominated by simple patterns, breezy fabrics, and fluttery silhouettes—all of which are brilliant additions to your summer travel wardrobe thanks to their versatility and packability. Snagging these styles for yourself doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg, which is why we turned our sights to Amazon to cobble together a fashion-forward packing list composed entirely of pieces currently on sale. From gingham dresses to comfy fisherman sandals, keep reading to find the 10 pieces you'll want to shop so that you can try out the biggest trends of the season on a budget. You'll feel comfortable (and confident) during every activity you have planned with these picks in your suitcase, and you'll have money to spare for the experience as prices for these marked-down pieces start as low as $20. Lightweight, breezy fabrics are superior during the hot summer months, and these loose-fitting trousers are an especially great addition to your packing list since they're made from a high-quality blend of cotton and linen that's gentle against the skin and easy to dress up or down. The waistband is designed with elastic and a drawstring, allowing you to create the perfect fit. Whether you're wearing them for a day of sightseeing or a nice dinner, they're suitable for every occasion, depending on how they're styled. If you're not drawn to shorts in the summer, these pants are an excellent alternative that will keep you cool without chafing. Matching sets are practically designed to make selecting your go-to travel outfit easier than ever. With its lightweight knit construction, this breezy Nenona set will surely be a mainstay in your suitcase. It's super breathable with a stretchy, forgiving weave that's easy to move in (and supremely comfortable for long-haul flights and walking tours alike). Since bohemian, relaxed knits are all the rage this summer, you'll also be on-trend every time you wear the set. And of course, both the top and bottom are neutral enough to be worn together or separately, multiplying your styling potential throughout your next trip. A versatile button-down should be at the top of everyone's packing list in the summer since they're just as useful to throw over a bikini during a day at the beach as they are tucked into a pair of trousers for a fancy meal or night out. This relaxed cotton blouse is ultra-packable and a great in-flight layer that's easy to add to your personal item without taking up too much space. Thanks to its high-quality construction, it'll only get more comfortable with each wear. It's light enough to sport without overheating despite the rising temperatures, and best of all, it's on sale for just $20. A plain-colored maxi skirt will create countless outfits while you're traveling with minimal pieces, and at $20, the Ochenta Cotton Maxi Skirt is one of the best finds to add to your suitcase this summer. The long, billowy skirt is ultra-flattering and feminine, and its white color can be styled with a never-ending selection of tops without growing tired. It's designed with a stretchy elastic waistband that shouldn't dig into your skin, and it's made from 100 percent cotton, so you can trust the fabric will actually feel soft and gentle against the skin. Maxi-length skirts and dresses are everywhere this summer, so with this in your suitcase, you'll be well-dressed and ready to take dreamy vacation photos at a moment's notice. If there's one pattern that's having a moment this summer, it's gingham. And since puff-sleeve dresses are another major trend, this feminine Zesica piece is a must-have—and it's now on sale for just $37. The bodice is stretchy and offers plenty of give for a comfortable fit, and it looks just as beautiful with a pair of sandals or heels as it does a simple pair of white sneakers. Whether you're prepping for a summer picnic or a day of exploring, you'll be happy to have this piece at the top of your suitcase. Perhaps one of the most unexpected trends to make a resurgence this summer, capris are just about everywhere right now—and incidentally, they're a great addition to your travel wardrobe since they're comfortable and flattering. This loose-fitting pair from Sarin Mathews boasts the flexibility of joggers with a slightly more feminine shape, and they're even fitted with an elastic drawstring waistband and pockets that add to their overall function. Dress them up with kitten heels a la Carrie Bradshaw or pair them with sneakers for your next walking tour. Either way, these capris are sure to get plenty of wear during your next vacation. Footwear trends come and go with the seasons, but it's fisherman sandals that we've spotted everywhere this summer—and they also happen to be the perfect travel shoes. The Steve Madden Marlin Fisherman Sandals stand out from the bunch thanks to the espadrille-style outsoles that are lined with a braided jute material. Plus, the platform is tall enough to give you some extra height without making it difficult to walk. They feature adjustable straps for a snug fit, and shoppers have even dubbed them an 'excellent, comfortable walking sandal.' Even summer travel requires a lightweight layer for chilly flights and evenings, and this crochet cardigan is an easy way to lean into this season's knit trend while still dressing for the temperature. An open-front design makes this sweater convenient to throw on even if you're sitting in the middle seat, and its neutral beige coloring ensures it'll layer well with numerous existing outfits in your suitcase. Best of all? It's on sale for $20 for a limited time. Accessories are the easiest way to transform even your simplest travel outfits into Pinterest-worthy looks, and this timeless straw bag will add beautiful texture and charm to your packing list for only $22. While the exterior is decorated with a woven rattan fabric, the interior is lined with one large primary pocket along with a smaller pocket for belongings you'll want to keep more easily accessible. It's fitted with a zipper closure to keep your belongings safely stored inside. It's the perfect pick for an impromptu day at the beach or pool, as well as any other activities you have on your travel agenda. Bermuda shorts may not be everyone's favorite look, but there's no denying that the resurgence of this trend is ideal for avoiding chafed legs during walking tours and travel days. From denim to cargo, the fabric options are practically endless, and this lightweight jersey pair strikes the balance between sporty and chic—and they'll take up virtually no space in your suitcase. Paired with a tiny tank and a dainty bag, these shorts will quickly become a fashionable staple—and proof that you don't necessarily need to show more skin to look and feel great this summer. The linen blend will wrinkle less than 100 percent linen options, plus they're easy to style in countless different ways, including with sneakers, jelly flats, or a simple pair of kitten heels. One shopper noted that they're 'very lightweight for the summer and still dressy enough to wear out,' while another shared that the 'elastic waistband doesn't look frumpy and the pockets are the perfect depth.' The right pair of flowy shorts can easily mimic the dainty style of a mini skirt, and these effortless linen cotton blend shorts do just that—plus, they're on sale for just $13. Their thick, elastic drawstring waistband sits comfortably on the skin without squeezing or digging in, and they also come in five versatile colors, including black, cream, and blue. If you're looking for shorts that provide plenty of coverage without leaving you swimming in excess fabric, the Fancysters Linen High-waisted Shorts are your perfect fit, with shoppers calling them 'very cool and comfortable.' Boasting a loose, forgiving fit and an adjustable elastic waistband, these linen-blend shorts are a lightweight pick to travel with all summer long, and their $33 price tag only makes them more enticing. The mustard hue provides a pop of color while still being an easy-to-style neutral, and you should be able to find a comfortable fit with sizes ranging from 2XS to 5X. One shopper pointed to the 'great quality and adjustable waistband' as their favorite features of these shorts, adding that you can 'dress them up or down' with ease. Simple, lightweight, and available in a staggering 44-color range, these forgiving cotton and linen blend shorts are made for everyday wear during your seasonal travels. They're ultra-comfy and breathable with a high-quality construction, and the wide leg fit means you'll never feel restricted by too-tight fabric. They can be styled casually or dressed up with a nicer blouse and sandals, and they're so popular that more than 300 pairs have been purchased at Amazon in the past month. They've even earned thousands of rave reviews from happy customers, with one shopper revealing that they 'have seven pairs so far'—all of which have the 'perfect length' and 'the best elastic waistband with a tie that actually works.' 16 Breathable Clothing Pieces to Keep You Cool in Heat Waves and on Summer Trips—From $9
Summertime brings with it a major rise in tourism and temperatures. With parts of the country already experiencing record-breaking heat, the way we approach travel planning is important and ever-changing, and comfy summer travel clothing is a real need. So, I'm never one to shy away from religiously checking my weather app before a trip to pack the best cooling clothing and accessory options to beat the heat. After tackling 100-degree Fahrenheit temperatures in Arizona while visiting the Grand Canyon for the first time, I realized that I would need to take serious inventory of my travel wardrobe ahead of my annual summer retreat to Europe in August, including the sun-drenched shores of Hvar, Croatia, Sicily's famed San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons Hotel from The White Lotus , the family-owned, two-Michelin-starred Rossellinis restaurant on the Amalfi Coast, and more. It's a lofty trip that requires a lot of packing consideration for the heat. My very intentional checklist to navigate this multi-city itinerary includes fabrics that drape off the body, hats with built-in mesh for ventilation, and a few of my favorite breathable and airy staples. No matter your final destination's temperature, here are some great options to stay prepared, from lightweight short sets to moisture-wicking T-shirts and everything in between. There's nothing quite as convenient as a ready-made outfit—one that already matches and does not require ironing. This linen short set makes casual days on the beach a breeze, with shorts that feature an elastic waistband, an adjustable drawstring, and deep pockets. The button-down shirt can be paired with a cute tank or T-shirt, and it's long enough to tuck in if you'd like. To help beat the heat, this oversized, airy button-down from Big Dart is the perfect pick. Match it with your favorite pair of shorts or pants and a bold necklace to make it pop. It comes in a variety of colors, including a vibrant royal blue and rose color that sets the tone for a colorful summer. The oversized, loose fit, and roll-up sleeves make it a great cooling option that's easy to put on and take off. When I'm climbing those steep stairs like Cersei did on a Game of Thrones tour in Dubrovnik in a few months, I'm going to need some very breathable clothing. A summer staple, wide-leg linen pants are the heat-fighting superhero of clothing that never fails. This flowy option from Siliteelon comes in an airy capri fit with an elastic waistband and pockets. The linen-cotton material makes it movable and light. Pair it with comfortable sandals and a tank top. Lightweight polyester and spandex make this tank dress from Auseilly a surefire bet against any warm day. Equipped with pockets and long enough to wear with or without pants, you can choose from over 40 colors and prints for your next getaway. This moisture-wicking shirt from REI Co-op is my must-have for trips to warm climates. The soft jersey fabric provides excellent moisture-wicking and UPF 50+ protection. Wrinkle-resistant and lightweight, it's the perfect accompaniment to a pair of jeans or shorts–and will quickly dry even the worst of sweat stains. Whether you're aiming to get a run in or just in search of a pair of comfortable travel shorts, this high-waisted option from The Gym People fits the bill. A slit on the outer layer of the shorts provides a great range of movement while walking, and you can also store your cards in a handy hidden waistband pocket. Made with a moisture-wicking fabric, you won't have to worry about any lasting sweat stains. Pack this super chic linen set for your next pool or dinner party. A sleeveless, square neck top and wide leg bottoms make it an ideal cooling outfit with a lot of breathability. Cotton rayon fabric is soft on the skin, and pockets in the pants are always a plus, especially while traveling. You can mix and match the top or bottom with alternate styles, too. With chemical-free cooling fabric, this cooling bandana shields against sun damage with solar protection yarn. Its cooling properties begin once you wet it and last for up to three hours. It can be worn as a bandana, neck drape, or headband, and has a very durable fabric, especially when it's wet. $68 $47 at The well-loved activewear brand Vuori has a women's travel collection, and the Villa tank is one of my favorites from the line. A lightweight tank is a hot weather clothing must-have, and the easy fit option is naturally wrinkle-resistant and made with partially recycled stretch woven fabric. One of the worst feelings in hot weather is the slipping and sliding of sweaty feet in sandals. These no-slip, open-toe slippers from Menore are super lightweight and breathable, with a thick sole that provides shock absorption and great cushioning for long walking days. These shoes have helped prevent that dull achiness after very active travel days, and they come in a number of vibrant colors I love, including rose and yellow. For another more dressed-up shoe option, I rely on these comfortable Donald Pliner mules on Amazon. The ventilated macrame fabric provides great airflow, and the small heel makes walking long distances more manageable. A relaxed, breathable fit gives this hooded tank all the perks of a workout top for heading to the gym or walking excursions while you travel. The popular pick on Amazon comes in a variety of colors and functional pockets. I like to pair it with my favorite lounge pants from Vuori on layovers, or these Sandy River Shorts from Columbia that feature 100-percent nylon fabric that has UPF 30 protection against the sun's rays. They come in a variety of colors and are currently on sale on Amazon. $180 $125 at I fell in love with Left on Friday's swimwear as soon as I saw its range of styles for all body shapes and sizes. The Sunday Suit provides all the considerations that many one-piece suits often miss: stretchy, quick-drying Lycra, thin, buttery-soft material that doesn't trap heat on hot days, and a range of colors that just scream, " Summer is here. Get into it! ' They have a large range of bikinis, too, with full or cheeky coverage bottoms to choose from. For extra sun protection, check out their SunDays fabric line that protects from UV rays and comes in a range of styles that include a long-sleeved mock neck top. I love versatile clothing, especially swimsuit cover-ups that can double or triple duty. This pick from Dokotoo checks all of the boxes by functioning as both a swimsuit cover-up and a day dress. The material is lightweight with short sleeves and slits on each side that provide a great cooling effect when walking. You won't have a hard time finding your color of choice for your beach or pool day, too, as there are over 20 hues and prints to choose from. For beach days, I also adore this long sarong from Hunza G, with super soft fabric and UPF 50+ fabric. No matter the cover-up, my go-to sunglasses to shield from the sun are any of the eclectic designs from designer Poppy Lissiman. I'm currently obsessing over these rose-colored crimped frames with CAT1 UV-protected lenses. Sun hats come in clutch in any hot weather environment. If yours isn't ventilated, however, it can create more body heat. This unisex hat from Columbia is the answer to all your hat hiccups, with a moisture-wicking headband and UV-blocking sun protection fabric. The sun-shielding hat has an adjustable chin strap and mesh ventilation for those days when your hair and head need to breathe. And speaking of hair, hot weather always makes flyaways come out to play. I like to slick mine down with Giovanni's Styling Gel, available on Amazon. I adore this flowy, lightweight dress from Columbia, particularly for its Omni-Freeze material that has accelerated wicking for hot temperatures and UPF 50 fibers that guard against UVA/UVB rays. A stylish gathered design at the shoulders makes it an easy pick to transition from active days to casual nights, and the comfort stretch polyester doesn't require an iron. The dress comes in a number of colors, including a vibrant coral color called 'juicy' and a more neutral option called 'safari' that can match just about anything. An oversized shirt dress allows for great airflow and ultimate comfort. The striped print of this dress reminds me of the best beach summer days, exploring the nearby town while cooling off from the sun and sand. The linen fabric makes it lightweight, and it's versatile enough to dress up with heels or down with sandals for a beach day. Love a great deal? I'm a Former Lululemon Employee—These Are 15 'We Made Too Much' Finds I'm Shopping for Fourth of July From $29
Fourth of July is one of my favorite days of the year. But that doesn't mean you'll find me dropping big bucks at a fireworks stand in triple-digit temps this weekend. Instead, I'll be indoors—AC on full blast—upgrading my travel wardrobe at Lululemon. Before I became a travel writer, I was a store educator for Lululemon, so I'm very familiar with the brand's best-sellers. Just as importantly, I know firsthand that early July is a great time to stock up on essentials I can wear throughout the warmer months, and more often than not, the rest of the year, too. (Besides, isn't that the whole point of spring cleaning to make room for summer shopping? That's how it works in my house, at least.) If you, too, want to invest in some new looks this holiday weekend, below are 15 pieces I'm currently eyeing from Lululemon's secret 'We Made Too Much' section, which has been dubbed 'Summer Scores' due to the number of warm weather finds like sweat-wicking shorts for $39 or an ultra-soft tank dress for under $100. 'Timeless' is how I sum up this curve-hugging dress made of fabric so soft you'll swear it needs to be dry cleaned, even though it's machine washable. The ribbed texture is noticeable, but not too thick, and the contouring on the back and front could not be more flattering. Indeed, the Ribbed Softstreme Slim-Fit Tank Dress is dressy enough to wear to church or dinner, comfy enough to wear in coach, and practical enough to pair with some white sneakers for a full day of sightseeing. Shoppers say it's 'perfect' for travel and appreciate that it doesn't wrinkle. I first saw these new joggers a few weeks ago at the Lululemon pop-up shop in Jackson, Wyoming, where they take up prime real estate on a rack near the front door. Perforated for maximum airflow, they're a lightweight summer-friendly take on the traditional Adapted State High-rise Jogger (which has nearly 1,400 five-star ratings). The built-in liner keeps these pants from being see-through, and they have zippered pockets and bottom cuffs you can unzip if you want a different breezier look. Lululemon's Hotty Hot shorts have been around for years, and with nearly 3,400 five-star ratings, it's not hard to see why. Personally, I'm loving the new summer colorways, including Raspberry Coulis, Chilled Grape, and Raceway Green. Choose from two lengths: 2.5-inch and 4-inch (although the latter one is running low on stock). Both are made of 100-percent recycled polyester and feature mesh panels at the bottom for added breathability. I don't really use the liner's secret stash pocket, but I always keep a lip balm in the zippered pocket in the back. 'These are so lightweight and are great for traveling and adventures around the islands,' reads one five-star review left by a shopper who lives in Hawaii. One of Lululemon's most popular items, despite its relatively low price point, is the Everywhere Belt Bag 1L, which has racked up an incredible 24,000+ five-star ratings. I already own this best-selling bag in black, and it's served me well on my travels to all seven continents. Now that summer is here and my serotonin levels are the highest they've been all year, I'm stoked to stock up on the Lululemon belt bag in more playful colors such as Crater Blue, Lavender Lux, and Pink Dragonfruit. Don't get me wrong, I'll still wear dark hues as I often tend to do—I'll just pair my outfits with this eye-catching, and super practical, accessory. Wearing sweat-proof clothes that don't look like athletic wear on your next hot, humid vacation will be a trick you'll use over and over again. This Swiftly Tech Cropped Short-sleeve Shirt comes in tons of neutrals, bright hues, and striped patterns so you can pair it with almost anything in your suitcase. The flat seams are designed to avoid chafing, which is a plus if you're planning on sweating on an all-day walking tour or while hitting the hotel gym. Made for running, this shirt is a durable number you can reach for in almost any situation. Most of my leggings and pants are solid colors, so I'm surprised that I'm so drawn to these retro-inspired pants with contrasting color blocking. I think I like the color blocking so much because of the placement. The panels are down the sides and at the waist, elongating your legs and creating a very flattering silhouette, especially if you pair them with the matching halter top. 'I feel very 'va va voom' in this outfit,' reads one five-star review left by a shopper who owns both pieces. And because these pants are made of Lululemon's signature buttery-smooth Nulu fabric, I know they're even soft enough to sleep in. Perhaps Lululemon's most popular non-racerback tank, this lightly supportive top is so beloved by shoppers that it has more than 4,800 five-star ratings. I bought my first one three years ago at a Lululemon outlet store in Sydney, Australia, and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't a highlight of the two-week trip! Choose from more than 30 colors, and rest assured that this tank is easy to pair with wide-leg pants, high-rise leggings, workout shorts, and skirts. More importantly, it's so soft and weightless you'll forget you're wearing it (until you get compliments). 'Wore this to travel starting at 7 am and didn't take it off till midnight. It never got too tight or too hot, even after two flights and a 2-hour car ride,' wrote one satisfied shopper. Ever since stadiums started requiring clear bags, I've kind of become obsessed with the look. That's why I love this see-through mesh tote, where not even my smallest lip gloss can get lost. That said, besides the roomy main compartment, this bag has an array of pockets in assorted sizes. The exterior drop-in pockets keep larger items accessible, while the smaller interior pocket keeps valuables safe. Personally, I'd use it as a beach bag since it's so breathable, and I don't need to worry about putting wet items in it. I'm normally not a fan of skirts, but I make an exception for this Align High-rise Skirt. Why? It's so soft and features a built-in 3-inch shorts liner. The liner even has drop-in pockets, so I can store my keys and a credit card if I want to go sans bag. Choose from nine colors and two lengths: 13-inch and 15-inch, and don't plan on needing to return it because it boasts nearly 1,000 five-star ratings. One five-star review titled 'I wish I could afford to buy every color!' reads: 'I've tried other more affordable athletic skirts and this one is worth the money for sure.' The Lululemon Align High-neck Dress, definitely has a sportier look, but it's still plenty versatile, especially in these neutral white and black hues. And like every piece in the Align Collection, this wardrobe workhorse is made of super soft fabric with four-way stretch. Yes, it's short, but it features built-in shorts, complete with a game-changing open back waistband, so you can go to the bathroom without having to completely undress. Top-wise, I love the high neckline and built-in shelf bra. The cheery pink (Raspberry Coulis) color was the first thing that caught my eye about these shorts. Then I noticed the unique grid texture. While they almost look too pretty to hike in, between the abrasion-resistant fabric that repels water and the strategically placed pockets, these high-rise shorts are clearly designed for tackling the trails. However, I can see myself sporting them on pavement-pounding sightseeing days, too. Don't try if you're not prepared to buy, because the Women's Restfeel Slide will immediately win you over the second you slide into them. These slides, which have more than 2,500 five-star ratings, are an undeniable treat for your feet, especially in hot weather. Unlike other slides, they feature dual-density cushioning, so you have enough support to comfortably cover a lot of ground. 'I wear them in the house as slippers, I wear them as sandals, and I've even worn them with dresses,' wrote one shopper who describes themself as having major foot problems. Lululemon has made dozens, if not hundreds, of skirts over the years, but I don't know any as flattering as the Nulu Slim-fit High-rise Skirt. Best of all, it's 'buttery soft' and offers plenty of stretch, so you feel comfortable, not confined. There's even a slit in the back, so you have a greater range of motion, and the waistband has a secret stash pocket for your credit card, I.D., or keys. Shoppers say it's easy to dress up or dress down, and they praise its packability. This classic cotton twill hat might be the reason I break up with my dermatologist soon. (Just kidding: Routine checkups are important.) Yes, the star flower embroidery print (which comes in two colors) is cute. But I also love that this stylish hat has more technical features, such as a lining that has all the things Lululemon is famous for: four-way stretch, ultra sweat-wicking properties, and a quick-drying material for sweaty or rainy days. Bring on the sun and bad hair days—I'm ready. I've never touched a cloud, but if it feels anything like Lululemon's heavenly Like a Cloud Bra (which I've had for three years and plan on wearing to smithereens), sign me up! Currently, it's available for $49 in three gorgeous colors, all from the pink family. Even if you're not a fan of the colors, it's still worth buying. I would wear this in a hideous, drab hue with bleach spots if I had to—it's simply that comfortable. But don't just take it from me; the Like a Cloud Bra has more than 1,300 five-star ratings. 'I purchased this for vacation and fell in love with it immediately,' wrote one shopper who liked it so much that it's now their 'normal everyday bra.' Love a great deal?
