Burberry Reports Sales Improvement as Turnaround Strategy Boosts Recovery
Burberry BRBY 2.09%increase; green up pointing triangle said it saw an improvement in sales, as the British group pushes ahead with its brand revamp strategy in a tough backdrop for luxury brands due to weak demand. The trench-coat maker on Friday booked retail revenue of 433 million pounds ($581 million) for its fiscal first quarter ended June 28. Comparable store sales dropped 1% on year. The decline was lower than consensus estimates of a 3% fall, according to a company-compiled poll of analysts' forecasts.

FTSE 100 Live: UK Stocks Set to Extend Rise, Pound Pares Against Dollar
We've got Burberry results coming up, and it's true that the trench coat maker's 27% gain this year does look very impressive, especially when compared with French luxury giants like Hermes and LVMH. Putting this into context, however, since 2020 Burberry has underperformed by quite some way. It's down more than 40% over that time period, compared with a 260% gain for Hermes and LVMH's 15% rally. Burberry struggled during the post-lockdown luxury boomtime when consumers, especially in China, went and splurged on handbags and upmarket accessories. Yet as prices have risen, companies that cater to the ultra-wealthy -- like Hermes with its bags that sell for thousands of pounds -- have tended to do better than those in throes of a turnaround, like Burberry. Today, we'll be watching to see if those recent signs of progress at Burberry have been sustained.

The $56 Target Australia buy women are raving about this winter: 'I've been keeping it secret'
A stylish new release from Target Australia is the talk of fashion forums this week after eagle-eyed customers spotted it is a dead ringer for a much pricier alternative. The Target Trench Coat in shade Neutral, now on sale for $56, has been hailed as a near-perfect copy of the Witchery popular Snap Front Trench Coat, which retails for a staggering $399. Now, fashion fans are flooding social media with side-by-side comparisons that truly look too hard to tell apart. Noticing the striking similarities between the two pieces is their structured tailoring and neutral tones, to the soft-yet-sturdy fabric that drapes just right. 'Love this comparison!' wrote one on the Kmartinsider Instagram page that shares similar bargain buys and budget designer 'dupes'. So what is the difference exactly? On the surface, not much. Both coats feature a mid-length silhouette, sleek lapels, a belted waist, and minimalist snap closures which are a modern spin on the traditional trench that's flattering on literally everyone. Witchery's version is crafted from a lyocell-viscose blend, designed to have a slightly weightier drape and a more tailored feel. Pictured: Target Trench Coat in shade Neutral, currently on sale for $56 It's polished, elegant, and undeniably luxe feeling, but with a near $400 price tag, it's a serious investment for most. Target's trench, meanwhile, is made from a soft polyester-viscose blend with a hint of elastane, which gives it flexibility and ease and it still manages to hang just as beautifully. As for sizing inclusivity, both run as small as an Australian size 4 and run to size 16, with Target even stocking size 20 options. If a tan hue isn't your usual style either, both come in a winter-perfect dark olive tone too. For those looking to channel timeless 'quiet luxury' vibes without blowing the budget, Target's trench is a no-fuss, low-cost entry into effortless style. A trench is universally chic, versatile, and incredibly wearable perfect over denim, office wear, or layered with knits on cooler days. And at just $80, Target's budget-friendly buy that still looks high-end. If you're looking for some warm, comfy shoes to pair with it, then Target's Genuine Suede Leather Wool Lined Moulded Cork Clogs should also be on your radar. The $40 budget slides sent social media into a frenzy, after young Aussie mum Chloe Jackson, shared a now-viral video declaring them the 'perfect winter shoe'. They have been praised for their luxe look, high-end feel, and practicality, offering an on-trend alternative to far pricier brands on the market. Crafted from genuine suede leather, the clogs feature a rich chocolate brown upper (as well as a tan colour option), plush wool lining for extra warmth, and a moulded cork sole designed to hug the foot for maximum comfort. Available in women's sizes six to 11, the versatile clogs are ideal for both lounging at home and braving chilly school runs, and also come in a timeless style that pairs effortlessly with jeans, tracksuits, or winter loungewear. Crafted from genuine suede leather, the clogs feature a rich chocolate brown upper (as well as a tan colour option, right), plush wool lining for extra warmth, and a moulded cork sole designed to hug the foot for maximum comfort Fans were quick to agree and took no time to add their glowing reviews too. 'Can confirm these are great fur lined clogs. I wear mine around the house,' one wrote. 'These are the best. My current go-to!' another added. 'I have the Kmart version. But these ones look like an upgrade,' one noted. With winter well and truly here, it's no surprise the clogs and stylish trench coats have become some of the season's most hyped-up buys.

The Iconic Trench Coat Is The Muse Behind Burberry's Relaunched Makeup Collection
Models wearing Burberry trenches and the new makeup collection Coty For over a century, the Burberry trench coat has been one of the most iconic pieces in fashion. Popularized during World War I for military use, it was worn by British officers in the trenches because it was waterproof, lighter and more functional than the long, heavy wool overcoats they had worn in the past. It's been immensely influential ever since and most recently served as the muse for Burberry Beauty's new makeup collection, the Beyond Wear line. 'Whenever there is something that's synonymous with a brand, it can very easily become the starting point for everything else,' says Lauren Parsons, US Burberry Beauty Brand Advocate and celebrity makeup artist. 'The trench coat was established [over a century ago], so fast forward to 2025 and all those things that were so innovative then, like the gabardine, the fact that it was long wearing, the fact that it was weather-resistant—because, of course, it had to be—and also, it's incredibly breathable. When you look at the Beyond Wear Perfecting Matte Foundation, it's incredible because it has that same breathability. But the breathability comes into the fact that it's also long-wearing. You can wear it for up to 24 hours, and it's still comfortable. The hero ingredients that form the Trench Protect Technology means that it's anti-aggressors, which work perfectly in the city, but also it's great in real life.' Burberry Beyond Wear Perfecting Matte Foundation Coty Trench Protect Technology is the cornerstone of Burberry Beauty. Looking to the game-changing gabardine fabric of the trench coat, Trench Protect Technology is made up of antioxidant and anti-pollution ingredients that protect skin while still being breathable and comfortable. It's in the same spirit of that British effortless sophistication, but with a modern spin for beauty. Burberry Beauty's Beyond Wear line marks the return of the brand to the US. Burberry makeup temporarily withdrew from the US market during a transition period to Coty in 2017. It officially debuted on last fall and just launched in-store at the Nordstrom NYC Flagship this spring, starting a broader retail rollout. Burberry Beyond Radiance Primer Coty 'Following an incredible reception of Burberry Beauty's fragrances in the US, including GODDESS, HER and HERO, and after successfully relaunching Burberry makeup in the UK in 2023, Coty and Burberry are thrilled to reintroduce the makeup portfolio to the US market with a renewed direction and innovative formulas,' says Suzane Rodrigues, Global Marketing Director, Burberry Makeup. 'Returning with a lineup for face, eyes and lips that embodies Burberry's British heritage, this launch brings a distinctive and inclusive beauty experience to US customers. As Burberry Beauty reaches an exciting point of evolution and global appeal, this launch provides the ideal opportunity to bring its elevated makeup collection to US consumers, underscoring Burberry's commitment to quality and innovation.' Parsons sees the hiatus as a boon for the brand. 'What is so good about revisiting it in 2025 is the fact that everything is a little bit more evolved,' she says. 'Everything is more nuanced in terms of colors and formulations, but it's still very much fundamentally Burberry. It's bringing in all those little facets of the couture tech, which means that the products are easy to mix, and you can almost look at the face products as textures, as opposed to product. The fundamentals of the face products—which is something that Burberry Beauty and I very much share—is that gorgeous texture of skin. It's very much that kind of sophistication and nonchalance that Brits have.' US Burberry Beauty Brand Advocate Lauren Parsons Coty The Burberry makeup Beyond Wear line spans a full collection and includes the Beyond Radiance Primer, Beyond Wear Perfecting Matte Foundation, Beyond Wear Perfecting Concealer, Beyond Wear Setting & Refining Powder, Brit Shine Lipstick, Kisses Lipstick Matte, Kisses Lipstick Satin, Beyond Volume Mascara and the Eye Quad. The Trench Protect Technology makes the complexion products the hero of Burberry Beauty. 'There are some lovely antioxidants, like rose and Darjeeling tea, because, of course, why would you not have tea within the brand?' Parsons says. 'It's a really good anti-aggressor. There's also safflower extract, which starts repairing your skin barrier from the start. When you use that with something like the Beyond Radiance Primer, that's giving you all the hydration. When you put the foundation on top of the primer, it locks it in. All those little things where they're working in tandem, it's really good. That iconic trench coat muse works very well when putting it into beauty.' Burberry Kisses Lipstick Matte in Burnished Red Coty Parsons enjoys playing with the products in unexpected ways. 'You can hack things,' she says. 'You don't have to use the Beyond Radiance Primer as an all over primer. For example, I've got a slightly combination T-zone, so I would never put the radiance primer in my T-zone because I don't need any other glow there. But what I might do, because the foundation is quite full coverage, if you hack that and you put a ratio of two parts primer to one part foundation, you have this beautiful, glowy skin tint. That's something that you can up and down [the ratio] during the year. If you wanted to have that beautiful base that doesn't have any shine in the summer, you wouldn't necessarily put any radiance primer in that; you can bespoke your face products. If you didn't want anything but just a bit of a pep in your step, the primer is fantastic on its own. The complexion products have heaps of coverage, but you can use them from the gentlest touch to a full ready for action base.' An additional go-to hack for Parsons is wearing the Kisses Lipstick Matte as stains. 'There's this great color called Burnished Red, and in a world where red can sometimes feel like it wears you, I like the idea of this bricky red with a little bit more oomph in it,' she says. 'You don't even have to be exact—just put on a couple of swipes and you can either rub it from each side or push it into your lip line. All of the matte lipsticks are anti-bleeding, so you don't have to worry about it becoming messy. Then I just get a Q-tip and go around the outside and I'm good to go. That's a good hack because you can use it in a multitude of ways and it doesn't have to be perfect.' Burberry Eye Quads Coty Another favorite lipstick shade of Parsons is the English rose hue, which she loves for its wearability. It also perfectly represents the Britishness that is Burberry. 'With the globalization of makeup now, I love the fact that there's a little bit of British sophistication,' Parsons says. 'I don't mean that in a snobby way. It's quite tonal, and it's quite ready for work. When these things link together, it's like that melting pot, and that sums up London to me. I love the heritage about Burberry. I love the fact that rooted in classics, but it's being modernized.'

8 best women's trench coats for a timeless style
Trench coats are timeless outerwear staples we can rely on year in, year out, season after season. The classic trench coat reportedly first hit the fashion scene during the First World War, thanks to the late Thomas Burberry, who's iconic design became the cornerstone for trench coats that followed over the decades, and the brand continues to be a go-to. Trench coats have specific features, though some brands may play with their designs. Generally, trench coats are light or midweight, midi length, and often come in neutral tones, such as camel, sand or beige. Other stylistic features include wide lapels, a double-breasted button-down fastening, as well as a buckle or tie waistbelt. However, the iconic trench coat has been adapted over the years, with the most recognisable difference being the length, which can range from maxi to cropped, as well as the colour and texture. Trench coats, or macs, are the ideal lightweight jackets for every occasion, whether you wear one to the office, on days out, or to run errands. Whether you are styling your trench coat over a fail-safe white T-shirt, denim jeans, and trainers combination, a bohemian midi dress and boots, or loungewear, I have searched high and low to bring you my selection of the best trench coats for women, from high-end and high street brands. How we tested Over the past few weeks, I have tried and tested a whole host of designs to find the very best trench coats for women. I opted for long-sleeve options, as well as maxi, mid-length and cropped creations in an array of fabrics, colours, and densities. I assessed how well they fitted (I'm a size 10 and 5ft 11in), how much insulation they offered, as well as their ability to stand up against unpredictable British weather. I experimented with different styling options for each trench and assessed the weight of the coat, as well as any other noteworthy features, such as the lining, branded details, and secret fastenings.
