‘I am horrified,' Residents react after Bryant police make an arrest in connection to triple homicide

ALEXANDER, Ark. – Bryant police have made an arrest in a triple homicide that happened on Lena Drive in Alexander on Sunday. A quiet neighborhood turned into a crime scene Sunday morning after police responded to a caller saying he came home from work and found his wife and in-laws dead with gunshot wounds. Sandra Harris, a neighbor who lives just down the street from the police tape, shared her reaction. 'I am horrified. I have been here since 2018, and I have never lived where there has been a triple homicide ever,' Harris said. Bryant police investigating after three found dead Sunday morning Police arrested 34-year-old Jarrod Mitchell eight hours after responding to the 911 call. He's charged with the killing of his sister and both parents. While the arrest has brought some relief to the community, sorrow still weighs heavy on the heart — especially for the three kids who were in the home, uninjured, when police arrived. 'That is very sad and heartbreaking because I am a grandmother myself,' Harris said. Bryant police said Mitchell was transported to the Saline County Detention Center and faces three counts of 1st degree murder. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Pre-inquest hearing begins for cold case murders of trio shot dead in Mount Isa bushland

A coroner has been tasked with "finding answers" for the families of three friends who were killed in remote Queensland more than 45 years ago. In October 1978, Karen Edwards, 23, Timothy Thomson, 31, and Gordon Twaddle, 22, were found shot dead in bushland at Spear Creek, near Mount Isa. At the time, the trio had been on a motorcycle trip together, travelling from Alice Springs to Melbourne. In 1980 a coroner ruled they had been murdered by an unknown person or persons. Following a fresh cold case investigation, in 2019, Bruce Preston — who had previously admitted to stealing one of their motorbikes — was arrested over the triple homicide. However, after being committed to stand trial, the prosecution against him was withdrawn in 2023. Lawyers for Mr Preston have previously said he denies having any involvement in their deaths. During a pre-inquest conference held on Thursday, the Coroners Court in Brisbane heard an inquest could be held as early as October with more than 40 witnesses expected to give evidence. Counsel Assisting the Coroner Amelia Hughes told the court there were four proposed issues set to be examined, the first being an outline of the group's journey from the Northern Territory into Queensland. "Including the locations at which they stopped and the timing," she said. The court heard this issue would also look at any occasions they were seen in the company of a fourth rider and try to determine who that person was. Ms Hughes told the court the inquiry will also consider the movements and activities of the group after they arrived in Mt Isa and their time spent at a local caravan park. "Including… the visits by a Toyota Landcruiser at their campsite… [and] the identity of the driver," she said. The court heard there was evidence the group had been picked up by this vehicle multiple times during their stay. Coroner Stephanie Williams will also probe the adequacy of the two police investigations and attempt to identify whether anyone was involved in the deaths. She told the court she wanted to secure evidence as thoroughly as possible whilst "battling" the "passage of time". "No doubt as the families would be acutely aware this matter has been going on for many decades," she said. Some of the family members were dialled into the hearing, and Coroner Williams acknowledged their dedication to uncovering what happened. "This matter and investigation have been a long time coming, thank you for your commitment to your loved ones," she said. "I hope that as this inquiry progresses, the court is able to assist you with finding answers to some of the questions you have." A further preliminary conference into the matter will be heard in August.

Arrests made in Georgia shooting that killed 3

MACON. Ga. (AP) — A total of three people have now been arrested in connection with a triple homicide outside a Georgia bar in May, while authorities said a fourth man wanted for arrest killed himself on Thursday. The May 18 shooting in the parking lot outside the Midtown Daiquiri Bar and Grill in Macon, Georgia, killed three people and injured another six. Travis Keyshaun Glover, 17, of Macon, was arrested Saturday and charged as an adult with three counts of murder, the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said. Jarrius Terrell Curry, 28, of Macon, is charged with aggravated assault. Muchman Bond III, 25, has also been charged with three counts of murder. He was arrested in May on an unrelated charge in South Carolina. Sheriff's deputies found Christopher Valentine, 25, dead in a Macon house on Thursday. Investigators had been publicizing their search for Valentine, who was also wanted for three counts of murder. Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones told local news outlets that Valentine shot and killed himself. A judge denied bail to Curry and Glover on Monday, saying the cases would be sent to superior court for a further hearing. No court records exist yet for any of the three in Bibb County Superior Court, a clerk said Friday. The Associated Press was unable to determine whether any of the men have attorneys who can speak on their behalf. Curry and Glover are being held in jails in separate counties outside Macon. Jedarrius Meadows Jr., 28; Javonta Faulks, 32; and Javarsia Meadows, 24, were killed in the May 18 shooting. Six other people were injured. Bibb County Sheriff David Davis has suspended the liquor license of Midtown Daiquiri Bar & Grill, where the shootings took place, while Macon-Bibb County commissioners await a report on whether they should deny a permanent renewal of the license. Commissioners had debated revoking the bar's license in 2023 after Davis cited concerns about crime around the bar, but never finalized the revocation.

Travis Decker search shifts focus as officials lift roadblocks in Chelan County

Law enforcement officials in Chelan County are continuing the search for triple homicide suspect Travis Decker, with hundreds of officers involved in extensive searches of nearby forests, waterways, and buildings, according to authorities. The Chelan County Sheriff's Office said investigators have searched dozens of structures and large swaths of forest in the area where Decker was last known to be. Teams have also searched the river and used information from search warrants, public tips, and surveillance video to guide their efforts. As the search progresses, officials announced they are removing roadblocks and reopening Icicle River Road, saying there is no longer a credible threat in that specific area. The U.S. Forest Service has also been notified that recreation areas may be reopened. Authorities urged anyone returning to the outdoors in Chelan County to stay alert. 'We ask the public remain vigilant as they venture back out to the recreation areas,' the sheriff's office said in a statement. Residents are being asked to check home security systems and doorbell cameras for any signs of Decker. If anyone comes across something unusual while hiking or exploring the woods—especially if they believe it may help the investigation—they're encouraged to mark the location using a phone or GPS and report the time and place to authorities. Anyone who sees Decker is urged not to approach him and to call 911 immediately. Additional tips can be submitted to the Chelan County Sheriff's Office tip line at 509-667-6845 or online at
