Mob goes on looting spree after truck crashes on N3 A dramatic scene unfolded on the N3 northbound near Van Reenen police station today (July 8) after a truck overturned, sparking chaos in the area. The truck was carrying rice, which proved too tempting for a gathering crowd to resist. Soon, dozens of people were seen rushing to the truck, grabbing bags of rice and making off with them. Some individuals loaded the rice into their vehicles, while others fled on foot, eager to claim their spoils. uThukela District Municipality is pleased to announce that its switchboard telephone lines have been fully restored. After a period of downtime, the lines are now operational and the public can once again reach out to the municipality with their general queries. According to uThukela spokesperson Jabulani Mkhonza, residents can contact the municipality by dialing 0366385100 / 2400. The municipality encourages the public to use these numbers to report any concerns or ask questions.
