Police: 5-year-old boy wounded by unintentional gunshot inside south Lansing home
LANSING —A 5-year-old boy was wounded July 14 from what Lansing police said was an unintentional gunshot that happened inside a south Lansing home.
Police were dispatched to a home in the 800 block of Vincent Court, northeast of South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and West Jolly Road, at about 3 p.m. because of a shooting, said Jordan Gulkis, spokesperson for the Lansing Police Department in a text.
"When officers arrived, they found a 5-year-old boy with a gunshot wound," she said, adding that Lansing firefighters transported him to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. "At this time, it is believed a firearm went off unintentionally inside the home and struck the child."
An investigation continues.
