Egypt: EGPC unveils results of inspection campaign at fuel stations
Arab Finance: The Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC) announced the results of its periodic inspection campaign of the petroleum products trading and distribution system, according to a statement. Conducted by the Central Committee for the Control of Petroleum Products Circulation, the campaign took place during the third week of July and covered 26 gas stations in 14 governorates. In the New Valley Governorate, the authority seized a fuel station over collecting large quantities of diesel and gasoline, amounting to 15,700 liters, for illegal disposal, with a fine of EGP 471,000. Moreover, the committee has taken legal action against a diesel tanker driver, as he was caught red-handed on the Abu Zekry axis in Alexandria selling illegal quantities of diesel fuel. The campaign also uncovered tampering with the calibration of nine fuel nozzles at four stations. They were seized in preparation for proper recalibration of the fuel pumps by the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality (EOS). Also, the authority discovered water in a diesel tank at one station and took action immediately to disinfect the tank and ensure the safety of citizens' vehicles. The committee observed several violations at some fuel stations related to safe operating procedures, which resulted in a lack of awareness among employees about the risks of certain operational behaviors, such as smoking inside the station or refueling vehicles while the engine is running. In this regard, stations were required to adhere to safe operating regulations, informing workers about these procedures to ensure the safety of customers and themselves as well. UAE: 40 maid agencies fined for 140 violations in the first half of 2025
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (Mohre) announced that 40 Domestic Worker Recruitment Offices in the UAE were penalised during the first half of 2025, with administrative and financial legal measures taken against them after confirming approximately 140 violations of the Labour Law concerning Domestic Workers and its Implementing Regulations. The Ministry asserted that it would show no leniency with any Domestic Worker Recruitment Office proven to have committed legal or administrative violations and transgressions. It clarified that repeated violations by said agencies and non-compliance with the legal regulations governing their operations expose them to strict and more severe penalties, which may include cancellation of their licences. In a press statement, Mohre explained that continuous monitoring of Domestic Worker Recruitment Offices' operations in the UAE forms part of its efforts to sustain labour market regulations, enhance these Offices' competitiveness and leadership, and respond promptly to employer and family complaints regarding their work. These objectives are achieved through the efficient application of field-based and digital monitoring systems to flag and contain violations, while ensuring strict compliance among these Offices with the legislation regulating their work. The Ministry indicated that the majority of recorded violations consisted of failure to refund all or part of the recruitment fees to employers dealing with them within the specified period of two weeks from the date the Domestic Worker was brought back to the recruitment office, or from the date the domestic worker was reported to have stopped working. Infringements also included non-compliance with displaying Ministry-approved service package prices clearly to clients. Moreover, MoHRE affirmed that its inspection and monitoring system was fully prepared to deal with transgressions and violations seriously, firmly, and transparently, noting its commitment to listening to feedback and complaints from employers regarding Domestic Worker Recruitment Offices. It urged customers to communicate with the Ministry and report any negative practices by these Offices through the dedicated digital channels and platforms, or by calling the Labour Claims and Advisory Call Centre at 80084. The Ministry also urged customers to ensure they deal only with licensed Domestic Worker Recruitment Offices in the UAE to avoid exposure to any negative practices. It commended the majority of these Offices for their commitment to providing pioneering and competitive services to their customers, and offering diverse options and packages that meet their various needs and requirements at reasonable prices, and in accordance with the governing laws and regulations. Saudi authorities crack down on tourism violations
RIYADH: The Ministry of Tourism intensified inspections targeting tourism service providers across key summer destinations in cities and regions throughout the Kingdom. Over the past month, inspection teams carried out around 2,750 field visits, detecting some 170 violations, according to a Saudi Press Agency report. These visits aimed to ensure that tourism entities are licensed by the ministry, safeguarding the rights of both domestic and international tourists as part of the Saudi Summer program. In Asir, more than 420 inspections uncovered over 25 violations. In Taif, more than 360 visits revealed around 25 violations. Jeddah recorded over 1,680 visits, revealing more than 110 violations. In the Baha region, more than 280 inspections resulted in five violations. The ministry emphasized that all tourism service providers — including travel agencies, consultancy offices, and event organizers — must comply with tourism regulations and bylaws to protect tourists' rights.
