Tucker Carlson Calls Fox News Propaganda, Internet Chokes On Irony

Tucker Carlson just bit the hand that fed him talking points. The right-wing firebrand called his former network, Fox News, 'propaganda' while criticizing its pro-war message during an appearance on Steve Bannon's 'War Room' podcast on Monday. 'What they are doing is what they always do, which is just turning up the propaganda hose to full blast and just trying to knock elderly Fox viewers off their feet and make them subject to more wars,' Carlson told Bannon. Rattling off a list of 'warmongers' that he said are urging President Donald Trump to intervene in Israel's war with Iran, the retired cable news star host named Fox News anchors Sean Hannity and Mark Levin, as well as the network's owner, Rupert Murdoch, and billionaire Republican donors, Ike Perlmutter and Miriam Adelson. 'At some point, they will all have to answer for this, but you should know their names now,' the pundit went on. Things between Fox News and its one-time headliner seem to have soured since he left his primetime perch at the network in April 2023. Online, people couldn't resist pointing out the irony of Carlson's comments after he spent years pushing conspiracy theories and disinformation on his Fox News shows. In his own words: Trump's Iran strike tests his rhetoric on ending wars

During his campaigns for president, Donald Trump spoke of the need to stop engaging in 'endless' or 'forever wars,' and said removing 'warmongers and America-last globalists' was among his second-term foreign policy priorities. Trump's move to strike Iranian nuclear sites risks embroiling the United States in the sort of conflict he once derided. Like other recent American presidents, Trump said he would not permit Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. In recent months, he had held out hope that diplomacy could avoid the strike he announced Saturday.

Populist leader suggests ahead of NATO summit that Slovakia might be better off neutral

BRATISLAVA, Slovakia — Slovakia's populist Prime Minister Robert Fico suggested Tuesday that his country might be better off neutral as he and other officials prepared for a NATO summit next week. Fico made the remarks before heading into a meeting with political party leaders and President Peter Pellegrini to discuss proposals to increase defense spending to meet targets that the alliance is moving toward. Fico accused Western leaders of being 'warmongers' who enable weapons profiteering in their support of Ukraine.
