Emergency crews responding to ‘water incident' near Westboro Beach

The Ottawa Police Service said in a post on X at 2:43 p.m. that it was responding to an 'active water incident' with firefighters and paramedics assisting. Ottawa paramedics tell CTV News two people are being assessed at the scene. No other information was provided. The operation is ongoing. Ottawa police are asking the public to avoid the area.

1 man dead, 1 child rescued near Westboro Beach
A man is dead after first responders were dispatched to a call about two people in the water near Westboro Beach on Wednesday afternoon. At 2:43 p.m., the Ottawa Police Service said on X there was an active water incident near the beach. An ambulance and an underwater search and recovery unit vehicle could by seen south of the beach near the Kichi Zibi Mikan. The Ottawa Paramedic Service later confirmed they got a call at about 1:40 p.m. about two people in the water. They found an eight-year-old boy in the area and were able to rescue a 27-year-old passerby who had gone into the river to rescue the child, paramedic Paul Morneau said. The other adult in the water was later found unconscious and could not be resuscitated, despite CPR efforts that lasted about 20 minutes.

Carrickfergus: Child taken to hospital after water incident at marina
A child has been taken to hospital after a water related incident near the Carrickfergus Marina in County incident involved nine children and an adult. Man airlifted to hospital after falling into water near Richmond
A man has been airlifted to hospital after falling into the water at a North Yorkshire beauty Ambulance Service said it was called to the incident at Richmond Falls, near Richmond, at 16:41 air ambulances attended the scene and the man was taken to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough at about 18:00, an ambulance service spokesperson confirmed.
