Here Are The Richest Places In Oklahoma, Per The Latest Census Data

The two cities that by far the wealthiest are both located in the immediate suburbs of Oklahoma ... More City. getty You know what one of the best things about Oklahoma is? It has the lowest overall cost of living out of all 50 states (and D.C.), according to the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center's (MERIC) Cost of Living Data Series. Of course, this does not mean Oklahoma is free of any wealthy residents or wealthy towns. Recently, a series of data-based studies have been analyzing states, identifying their richest cities based on data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. This study analyzed 846 cities — what the Census Bureau designates as 'places' — in Oklahoma that had complete data from the Census Bureau, in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 15 richest cities in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Oklahoma is, plus the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state overall. In order to compile this list of the richest cities in Oklahoma, relevant financial data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey was sourced. Wielding these datasets, this study put together a four-factor scoring system to help identify the wealthiest cities in Oklahoma: Median household income Mean (average) household income Median home value Median property taxes paid There are a few important conditions and provisos about what the Census Bureau does with its data. For a number of factors, the Census figures have upper limits, so there's no exact value for certain factors. For example, for median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+'. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. For these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is crucial because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another aspect of the Census to point out is the census-designated place — CDP. The Census, more or less, treats CDPs as cities — their terminology is 'place' — and so will this list of the richest cities in Oklahoma. But if you see cities on this list that you see as, say, neighborhoods, you're not wrong; they just happen to be treated as cities by the Census Bureau. You'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in Oklahoma and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest city in Oklahoma in this ranking is Lake Aluma, a small little square-shaped town northeast of Oklahoma City. This place has only 29 households in total. Like so many lakeside towns, this one is wealthy and has beautiful homes on the lakefront. This is the only town in Oklahoma where the median household income exceeded $250,000. The average household income is the second highest in the state, at $333,152. Just under 57% of households here earn a minimum of $200,000 per year. The median home value is north of $1 million, which is absurdly high for Oklahoma considering most of the wealthiest cities on this list don't have home values that exceed $500,000. Finally, the median property tax paid per household is $8,250. The No. 2 richest place in Oklahoma is Nichols Hills is an upscale residential and shopping area, northwest of downtown Oklahoma City. This suburb is much larger than Lake Aluma, containing 1,540 households. Not surprisingly for a wealthy town, Management Occupations account for 30.4% of the workforce, the largest share, according to Data USA. The top industries by employment are Health Care & Social Assistance (23.4% of the workforce), Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (17.3% of the workforce), and Utilities (8.06% of the workforce). The median household income in Nichols Hills is $203,750. The average household income is substantially higher, at $344,808. The median home value too blows other cities' out of the water, at $855,300. And this town actually has higher property taxes than in the No. 1 richest city, the median paid being $9,281. The third richest place in Oklahoma is Cedar Valley, a small town of just 199 households. What's odd about this place is that it's composed of two rectangular areas of residents, connected by a line that runs along State Highway 33. And it seems to be the more western rectangular block that contains most of the wealth, including many newer and larger homes. The median home value reported by the Census Bureau is $322,000, but this figure is bound to far higher in the western quadrant. The median household income is $128,828, while the average household income is $146,169. Nearly two-thirds of households here earn $100,000 or more; and $100,000 goes far in a state where the median household income is $63,603.

What Is The Richest City In Montana? Latest Census Data Reveals

Flathead Lake is home to multiple towns that rank among the wealthiest places in Montana. Montana has absolutely transformed over the last 50 years. Its population has increased by 64%, from 694,409 in 1970 to 1,137,233 in 2024. Its economy has dramatically changed and the level of wealth has surged. And a good amount of the growth in wealth occurred since the pandemic as high-income remote workers relocated to Big Sky Country. This study analyzed 497 cities — what the Census Bureau designates as 'places' — in Montana that had complete data from the Census Bureau, in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 15 richest cities in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Montana is, plus the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state overall. In order to compile this list of the richest cities in Montana, key financial data was sourced from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. Wielding these datasets, a four-factor scoring system was put together to help identify the wealthiest cities in Montana: You should be aware of a few oddities that the Census Bureau does with its data. For a number of factors, the Census figures have upper limits, so there's no exact value for certain factors. For example, for median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+'. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is crucial because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another aspect of the Census to point out, and is particularly relevant to Montana, is the Census-designated place — CDP. The Census, more or less, treats CDPs as cities — their terminology is 'place' — and so will this list of the richest cities in Montana. But if you see cities on this list that you see as, say, neighborhoods, you're not wrong; they just happen to be treated as cities by the Census Bureau. You'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in Montana and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest city in Montana in this ranking is Gallatin River Ranch, an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Gallatin County. This is a rather small place, with only 78 households, the homes of which are quite large. Incomes here are very high. The median household income is over $250,000. And it's actually higher than the average household income, which is $236,505. Well over half of households earn $200,000 or more per year. The median home value is nearly $1.4 million. And median property taxes are the highest in the state, at $7,770 per household. The No. 2 richest place in Montana in this ranking is Rollins, an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Lake County, on the western shores of Flathead Lake. Like many towns on lakefronts, it has beautiful homes with plenty of boats. It's a small place with just 45 households in total. Rollins has one of the highest median incomes in the state, at $180,197. The average household income is $229,329. The median home value here is over $1.2 million. The median property taxes paid per household is $5,776, which is much higher than the average for the state. The third richest place in Montana is South Hills, a community of 226 households. The top three industries by employment are Public Administration (22.8% of the workforce), which is fitting because the state capital of Helena is just north; Construction (22.1% of the workforce); and Health care 7 Social Assistance (21.1%). The average household income here, $240,545, is well above the median household income of $160,417. Roughly 70% of households earn $150,000 or more a year. The median home value, though, is lower than the first two cities on this list, at $652,400. Property taxes are still on the high side, the median being $4,723 paid per household.

The 20 Richest Places In Indiana, New Census Data Shows

Many of the top wealthiest cities in Indiana lie in the radius of suburbs around Indianapolis. Where other states in the Midwest have struggled with population decline, Indiana has held strong. Back in 2000, the population of Indiana was a little over a million. By 2024, the population had grown by 14%, reaching 6.92 million. As part of an ongoing series of analyses, states have been examined using the latest Census Bureau data to determine which the richest cities in the state are. For this study, the focus is Indiana. This study analyzed 976 cities — what the Census Bureau designates as 'places' — in Indiana that had complete data from the Census Bureau, in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 25 richest cities in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Indiana is, plus the top 20 wealthiest cities in the state overall. In order to compile this list of the richest cities in Indiana, we sourced key financial data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. Wielding these datasets, we put together a four-factor scoring system to help identify the wealthiest cities in Indiana: When analyzing the data, it is important to note that Census figures have upper limits, so there's no exact value for certain factors. For example, for median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+'. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. For these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is particularly useful. Since the Census Bureau has exact figures for it, it's an even more precise barometer of wealth. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another aspect of the Census to point out is the Census-designated place — CDP. The Census, more or less, treats CDPs as cities — their terminology is 'place' — and so will this list of the richest cities in Indiana. So, if you see cities on this list that you see as neighborhoods or retirement communities, you're not wrong. These places happen to be treated as cities by the Census Bureau. Below, you'll find a table detailing the top 20 richest cities in Indiana and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest city in Indiana in our ranking is Crows Nest, a town within Washington Township, due north of Indianapolis. Crows Nest is a small place, with only 28 households. This town has an occupational mix that's common to many suburbs. According to Data USA, the top three industries by employment are Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (39.5% of the workforce), Accommodation & Food Services (18.4% of the workforce), and Health Care & Social Assistance (13.2% of the workforce). Incomes in Crows Nest are very high. The median household income here is $245,000, around triple the state median of $81,702. The average household income is even higher, at $744,021. The median home value exceeds $2 million. And property taxes are so high, the median amount paid per household is over $10,000. The No. 2 richest place is just north of the No. 1 city, and it's name is North Crows Nest, appropriately. They are almost exactly the same size, with North Crows Nest having 27 households to Crows Nest's 28 households. The median household income in North Crows Nest is above $250,000. Its average household income isn't as high as in Crows Nest: $546,926 in North Crows Nest versus $744,021 for Crows Nest. The median home value reported by the Census is well over $1.5 million. And just like in Crows Nest, the median property taxes by household is in excess of $10,000. The third richest place in Indiana is Williams Creek. This place is also due north of Indianapolis and lies in the same township, Washington Township. This town is larger than No. 1 and No. 2, being home to 164 households. The employment breakdown is comparable to Crows Nest. The top three industries include Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (24.2% of the workforce), Health Care & Social Assistance (15.2% of the workforce), and Retail Trade (11.1% of the workforce). The median household income in Williams Creek is $218,750, while the mean household income is $372,541. Property taxes are also substantial here, costing households a median of over $10,000 per year. The median home value is reported as $1.212 million.

The Richest Places In Nevada, Latest Census Data Shows

A series of recent studies analyzed and identified the richest cities in a number of states that lie in the geographic Mountain division, such as Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. For this article, the analysis will be for Nevada's richest cities. This study analyzed 134 cities in Nevada with complete data from the Census Bureau, in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 15 richest places in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Nevada is, plus the top 15 wealthiest cities in the state overall. In order to compile this list of the richest cities in Nevada, we sourced key financial data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. Harnessing these datasets, we put together a scoring system based on four factors to help identify the wealthiest cities in Nevada: The Census Bureau does some interesting things with its data. For certain factors, the Census numbers have upper limits, so there's no exact value for certain factors. When it comes to median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+'. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. Thus, for these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is crucial because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Census data also categorizes geographies in a particular way that the average person might not conceive of. And it is particularly relevant to Nevada. The Census has a geographic unit called census-designated places, CDPs, which it essentially treats as what people would think of as cities. So, if you see places here listed as cities, it's because they are CDPs and the Census Bureau more or less treats them as cities or towns. You'll find a table detailing the top 15 richest cities in Nevada and their respective dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest city in Nevada in this ranking is Crystal Bay, a very small town of only 80 households, on the northern shore of Lake Tahoe. It borders the state line with California. It sits on Crystal Bay across from Incline Village, another city on this list of wealthiest places in Nevada. The median household income in Crystal Bay is over $250,000. The average household income is an incredible $673,626. Not surprisingly, its median home value is in excess of $2 million, which is the upper limit the Census Bureau tracks. And the median property taxes paid by households is over $10,000 a year. The second wealthiest place in Nevada is another Lake Tahoe town, Glenbrook. This town is on the east coast of Lake Tahoe, south-southeast of Crystal Bay. The median household income is $223,942, while the average household income is north of $400,000. Like Crystal Bay, the median home value here is over $2 million. The median property taxes paid per household is over $10,000. Nearly 57% of households earn $200,000 or more a year. The No. 3 richest city in Nevada is Round Hill Village, another town along Lake Tahoe. This place is bigger than the No. 1 and No. 2 cities, being home to 380 households. This town is down in the southeast corner of Lake Tahoe, right near the California border and the aptly named city of Stateline. The median household income is $189,038, while the average household income is $279,816. The median home value here is almost $1.216 million and individual listings can be well over this figure. The median property taxes paid, however, aren't as bad as in the No. 1 and No. 2 cities, at $3,868 per year. The vast majority of the top 15 richest cities in Nevada are located in the vicinity of Lake Tahoe, with one or two in the Las Vegas metro area. You can see in the income figures, however, the imbalance in wealth generated by resort towns in the Take Tahoe area. The home values, even more so, convey the wealth disparity, with many places having median home values well beyond what the typical household income can sustain.

The Richest Places In Idaho, From The Latest Census Data

Aerial panorama of the waterfront and marina of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho at twilight. The wealthiest ... More city in Idaho lies along the shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Idaho, like its Rocky Mountain neighbors, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado, has changed significantly over the last 50 years. From a population of around 700,000 in 1970, by 2024 that figure had grown by 180.9%, to just over 2 million. Over the same period, the United States population grew by 67.2%. The economy of Idaho has also changed dramatically and is now far more diversified. Thus, not coincidentally, Idaho has witnessed a major increase in wealth compared to its past. According to the Economic Policy Institute (EPI), the top 1% takes home 14.9% of all income in Idaho and make 17.4 times more than the bottom 99%. Recent studies have analyzed and identified the richest cities in various states. Continuing this Rocky Mountain investigation, this study analyzed 236 cities (defined as 'places' by the Census Bureau; see below) in Idaho with complete data from the Census Bureau. This analysis analyzed them in terms of their median household income, mean (average) household income, median home value, and median property taxes paid per year, to come up with a list of the 20 richest cities in the state. Read on to find out what the richest city in Idaho is, plus the top 20 wealthiest cities in the state overall. To fully capture the wealth of these cities, this study didn't want to just look up the median household income for each one. Rather, the study sourced critical financial data from the Census Bureau's 2023 American Community Survey. Once these data points were compiled, they were scored using a four-factor system taking into account: 1) Median household income; 2) mean (average) household income; 3) median home value; 4) median property taxes paid. For certain factors, the Census numbers have upper limits, so there's no exact value for certain factors. For example, for median household income, the Census Bureau has an upper limit of '$250,000+', so no median incomes are recorded above $250,000. For median home value, the upper limit is '$2,000,000+'. For median property taxes paid, the upper limit is '$10,000+'. For these reasons, the mean household income (which is the same as average household income) dataset is very important because the Census Bureau has exact figures for it. All four of these metrics were scored, added up, and then ranked by the cities' combined scores. Another thing to go over is the Census Bureau term 'places.' The Census Bureau has a category of geographic units called Census-designated places — CDPs. The Census, more or less, treats CDPs as cities — their terminology is 'place' — and so this study will this list of the richest cities in Idaho. But if you see cities on this list that you see as, for example, neighborhoods, you're not wrong; they just are treated as cities by the Census Bureau. You'll find a table detailing the top 20 richest cities in Idaho and their associated dollar figures for each metric, below: The No. 1 richest place in Idaho in this ranking is Rockford Bay, which is a CDP, located on the western shores of Lake Coeur d'Alene. Property values are quite high here, with the median home value being $981,300. This makes the median property tax bill comparatively high, too, at $4,458. Incomes are markedly higher than the state's average. The median household income is $125,625, the second highest in Idaho. The average household income is the No. 1 highest, at $223,167. Unsurprisingly for a wealthy town, the two main occupations by employment are Management Occupations (25% of the workforce) and Business & Financial Operations Occupations (12.5% of the workforce), according to Data USA. The second richest place in Idaho is Hidden Springs, a CDP in Ada County, north of Boise and tucked into a narrow valley in the mountains (hence, 'hidden'). The top occupations by employment are Management Occupations (18.3% of the workforce), Health Diagnosing & Treating Practitioners & Other Technical Occupations (9.8% of the workforce), and Office & Administrative Support Occupations (6.9% of the workforce). The median income here is the highest in the state, at $159,439, while the average income is $199,589. Home values are very high, with the median being $683,800. Though that's $300,000 less than in Rockford Bay, the median property taxes in Hidden Springs is only a little less than the former's, $4,238 versus $4,458. Coming in as the No. 3 richest place in Idaho is Sun Valley, a resort town on Ketchum's eastern border. Sun Valley's incomes bear the hallmarks of a resort town. The median household income is comparatively low for a wealthy town, at $82,045. But the average household income is roughly double, at $162,193, which is common in resort towns because they tend to be centers of wealth inequality. Home values are, not surprisingly, very high. The median home value is $845,600, the second highest after No. 1 Rockford Bay. Interestingly, the median property taxes in Sun Valley are higher than in Rockford Bay, at $5,402 per year. According to Data USA, the main industries by employment are Professional, Scientific, & Technical Services (32.7% of the workforce), Accommodation & Food Services (14.9% of the workforce), and Educational Services (11.3% of the workforce).
