Airplane Audio Doesn't Have to Suck and This Bluetooth Transmitter Proves It

If you fly often, you already know the routine. You settle into your seat, grab the in-flight entertainment screen, and then your AirPods won't connect. That means reaching for the airline's wired headphones that feel flimsy, let in every engine roar, and make everything sound muffled. It's one of the most frustrating parts of flying, especially on long trips when decent audio can make all the difference. Between the engine noise, crying babies and that one guy snoring in 14C, you need a better option. The good news is there's a simple device that fixes the problem completely and makes flying feel a lot more like streaming at home. If you travel often, you probably already know the struggle: You're settled into your seat, ready to dive into the in-flight entertainment, only to realize your AirPods won't connect to the screen. The airline's wired headphones? Practically useless. They're uncomfortable, have no noise cancellation and let in every engine roar and crying baby within a three-row radius. For long flights, it's a recipe for a frustrating, low-quality listening experience. That's exactly why the AirFly Pro has become a must-pack item in my travel bag. It's a simple Bluetooth dongle that lets you connect your wireless earbuds (like my AirPods Pro) directly to the airplane's entertainment system, no adapters or wired workarounds required. Since I started using it, I've stopped dreading in-flight audio and finally get to enjoy movies the way they were meant to be heard. If you fly often, this little gadget might completely change how you travel. The AirFly Pro lets me truly enjoy in-flight entertainment The AirFly Pro from Twelve South is a minimally designed dongle that lets me connect to the 3.5mm headphone jack on my flight to listen to in-flight entertainment on my noise-canceling earbuds. All I have to do is pair the AirFly Pro with whichever Bluetooth headphones I'm using, like my AirPods Pro, plug the AirFly Pro into the display in front of me -- and I'm all set. I don't even need to use my phone to connect the two devices. Geoffrey Morrison/CNET There are four versions of the AirFly: the AirFly SE, which costs $35 on Amazon and connects to just one set of headphones; the AirFly Pro ($55); the Pro V2 ($60), the newest version of the Pro; and the Pro Deluxe ($62), which comes with an international headphone adapter and a suede travel case. I use the AirFly Pro, and it's been a game-changer for me on flights. I've never had to worry about battery life -- the AirFly Pro lasts for more than 25 hours and can fully charge in 3 hours. I can also pair two separate pairs of headphones to a single AirFly Pro, in case I'm with someone else on a flight and want to watch the same movie or show. And if that's not enough, the AirFly Pro also doubles as an audio transmitter, so I can turn any speaker with a headphone jack, like my old car stereo, into a Bluetooth speaker. Hey, did you know? Geoffrey Morrison/CNET The AirFly Pro makes a great gift The AirFly Pro is the perfect present to give to someone who's planning to travel this year. Besides my Anker MagSafe battery pack, the AirFly Pro really has become my most treasured travel accessory when I fly, which is why I consider it to be one of those can't-go-wrong gifts. Nothing's Headphone 1 Might Be Its Riskiest Audio Product Yet

Nothing has lots of wireless audio products at this point—trust me, I've covered basically all of them. First, there was the Ear 1, then the Ear 2, then the Ear Stick (RIP), then the Ear, then the Ear A, then Ear Open, and, oh my god, that's a lot of wireless earbuds. There's one kind of audio product that it hasn't ever released, though, and that's an over-ear pair of headphones. That's all going to change very soon, according to recent leaks from Nothing_fan_blog on Instagram, which has leaked the company's Headphone 1. Nothing Headphone (1) First Look ! 👀 Do you guys like it? It's quite different. — TechiBoy (@techiboy96) June 20, 2025This is apparently Nothing's first over-ear headphones, and it's not just a precedent; it looks like a heck of a big swing. First, there's the look. As you can see, there's still the characteristic Nothing transparency—you can see a little bit inside the headphones just like in the Ear-series earbuds, but with a slightly different spin. I don't know about you guys, but I'm getting a big cassette/tape recorder vibe, which pairs well with Nothing's canonical reverence for old tech like Game Boys and Walkmans. There's even a new soft blue color that treads outside of the typical white and black and evolves a theme solidified by the Ear A wireless earbuds, which debuted in a Playdate-esque yellow color. Probably even more notable than the color or the transparency, though, is the actual shape of these things. One choice you've probably noticed is that the earcups—or really the whole apparatus that holds them—are rectangular instead of round or elliptical like most headphones. That, to me, is actually the most jarring of all of the design choices and one that I'm going to guess may be divisive among Nothing audio fans and non-fans alike. As someone who has a hard time not looking like a small child in oversized headphones, I have my doubts about Nothing's decision to go rectangular here, but I'll reserve judgment until I get a pair on my head. That's all to say: Nothing is taking some chances, and it's not just design. Wireless, over-ear headphones also connote a few things about price and quality. On the latter front, the price, we can reasonably expect the Headphone 1 to be more expensive than any of its wireless earbuds of yore. If I were a betting man, I'd guess they'll still be well under high-end competitors like AirPods Max, but still $200 or more. And on the quality side of things, we can expect the Headphone 1 to be decidedly hi-fi. Nothing has already announced that it's partnering with KEF, a known entity in the hi-fi audio space, and the Headphone 1 appears to be the first Nothing product born from that partnership. As noted by WhatHiFi, leaked images show 'Sound by KEF' emblazoned right on the headphones themselves, making them the first clear traversal into a more premium audio space. So, to recap, what we're looking at is a first-ever product for Nothing in a new audio niche with a higher price and quite a big swing on design. To be honest, that's not just one swing; that's more like three, and according to America's favorite pastime, three strikes and you're out. To be clear, it's impossible to say at this point if any of those swings from the Headphone 1 are a miss, though. I haven't seen the headphones in person, I haven't listened to them, and I don't know how much they cost. Maybe we're looking at two or three runs on base, or maybe Nothing hit a grand slam. In any event, Nothing is clearly playing a new game here, and I look forward to seeing (or hearing, I guess) how this one turns out.

Whether biking with mates, sunbathing at the beach or relaxing on your balcony, a good wireless speaker is your best friend. Every year, when the temperatures go up, so does demand for these convenient devices with sales peaking just before summer kicks in. Among all models available, there's one that always stays in front: the Anker Soundcore 2 portable Bluetooth speaker. And it is currently the #1 best-selling portable Bluetooth speaker on Amazon. The Anker speaker currently retails at an all-time low of $29, which is a whopping 26% off its standard list price of $40. The price point is hard to beat for a device that has already won over more than 20 million people worldwide and holds a stellar 4.6 out of 5 stars from over 133,000 customer reviews. See at Amazon This speaker has 12 watts of total output power so your music will sound loud and clear indoors or outdoors. The 70 Hz frequency response provides that even deeper bass notes sound astonishingly clear particularly when combined with Anker's proprietary BassUp technology. This feature is combined with a patented spiral bass port and boosts low frequencies for a punchier sound on your favorite songs. With its IPX7 waterproof protection, this speaker is resistant to rain, dust, snow, and even accidental spills. You can take it to the beach, pool or on a hiking trip without worrying about water damage. But our favorite part is the battery life: It can play for a massive 24 hours of continuous music, far outlasting most of the other speakers on the market. This means that you can use it all day long and all night without needing to constantly find an outlet. The speaker also has wireless stereo pairing as a preference, meaning that if you have two newer Soundcore 2 speakers, you can pair them to one source for a bigger and more immersive stereo sound. At this price point, no wonder this speaker remains at the head of the top-seller lists year after year. See at Amazon

If You Own an iPhone, AirPods 4 (With and Without ANC) Have Suddenly Become Much Cheaper on Amazon

Apple has long possessed a tradition of premium pricing and hardly ever offers deep discounts, preferring instead to maintain its prestige brand name and perceived quality. But as Amazon reinstated Apple's complete lineup, the world's largest online seller has been more aggressive on pricing cuts, even on freshly released products like the AirPods 4. Since Sunday afternoon, both models of the AirPods 4 (with and without active noise cancellation) are available at an all-time low price, and it is a great time to invest in Apple's new wireless earbuds. The standard AirPods 4 model without ANC now costs $99 from its original $129 price which is a discount of 23%. If you're looking at AirPods 4 with ANC, they now cost $148 from the original $179 price (17% off). See AirPods 4 with ANC at Amazon See AirPods 4 without ANC at Amazon Great Apple Earbuds Both models of the AirPods 4 are filled with the latest technology that raises the bar for wireless sound. The standard model comes with Bluetooth connectivity, personalized spatial audio, and a water and sweat-resistant construction, and they are ideal for fitness use and daily wear. They also boast a USB-C charging case, an improvement from previous generations, and Apple's H2 chip which delivers greater sound quality, faster connectivity and improved battery life. With the charging case, users can get 30 hours of overall listening time, ready to last through long commutes, travel, or even a day at work and play. AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation take it further by incorporating adaptive audio, transparency mode, and wireless charging compatibility. Adaptive sound smartly blends transparency mode and noise cancellation and automatically adjusts to your environment for a seamless listening experience. Transparency mode allows listeners to stay aware of their environment without needing to remove the earbuds, especially useful for noisy situations. Wireless charging adds convenience with the ability to charge earbuds without needing to dig out cables. You will love the seamless setup for iPhone owners: Due to Apple's deep integration within iOS, pairing the AirPods 4 is literally as easy as opening the case close to your iPhone. The H2 chip also facilitates quicker device switching so that users can transition easily from their iPhone to iPad or Mac without skipping a beat. Personalized spatial audio is powered by dynamic head tracking and produces theater-quality sound that adapts in response to the movement of your head, so music, movies, and calls sound more lifelike. Water and sweat resistance of the AirPods 4 makes it a reliable sidekick to accompany runners and gym-goers. The USB-C charging case future-proofs the device but it also makes it easy for users to locate compatible charging devices as USB-C is already becoming a mobile standard. With 30 hours of battery life, the designers have ensured that the users will enjoy uninterrupted sound for days in a single charge, a feature that is unparalleled in the noisy wireless earbuds space. Amazon's price reduction on the AirPods 4 is rare for Apple products, particularly so soon after they released. Now is the perfect time to grab this deal before it is gone, make sure you get yours as soon as possible. See AirPods 4 with ANC at Amazon See AirPods 4 without ANC at Amazon
