DES MOINES, Iowa — Police are investigating after a car crashed into a house Tuesday afternoon on Des Moines' south side. The crash happened around 12:15 p.m. at the T intersection of Army Post Road and SW 18th Street, just east of the Des Moines International Airport. MidAmerican Energy made repairs to the power lines at the scene. Sgt. Paul Parizek of the Des Moines Police Department said a traffic unit is investigating what caused the crash. I-80 shut down after incident involving law enforcement in Dallas County

DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa — An incident involving law enforcement caused the closure of I-80 in both directions of travel in Dallas County early Tuesday morning. The first call went out on law enforcement dispatch radios around 1:30 Tuesday morning. On the law enforcement radio traffic, a dispatcher said, 'Deputy says male is actively shooting at her.' Officers closed I-80 west of De Soto as the investigation unfolded. And within 20 minutes, an officer is heard saying, 'Suspect's down, 153.' There's not a lot of information from officials at this time. I-80 was closed in both directions of travel between Exit 104 and Exit 106 for hours, but as of around 7:20 a.m., the westbound lanes are open again. Downtown Des Moines shooting investigation underway

DES MOINES, Iowa — An investigation into a shooting incident is underway in downtown Des Moines. The incident happened around 8:40 a.m. Sgt. Paul Parizek, spokesperson for the Des Moines Police Department, said it occurred in the 100 block of Locust Street. That's the same block as the Federal Courthouse. Sgt. Parizek said the preliminary investigation indicates only one person was involved. That person has critical injuries and has been transported to a local hospital. There isn't believed to be any danger to the neighborhood from the incident. There will be an increased law enforcement presence in the area as the investigation progresses. Apartment fire response closes Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa — Firefighters are on the scene of an apartment building on Ingersoll Avenue after a fire was reported Thursday morning. Crews were called to the scene at Ingersoll Ave. and 28th Street around 10:00 a.m. Fire officials on the scene told WHO 13 that there was a small fire in the kitchen of an apartment and they were able to put it out. No one was home at the time of the fire. Ingersoll Avenue has been shut down in both directions at 28th Street as firefighters conduct operations at the scene according to the Des Moines Police Department.
