Collector asks quarry, crusher units to apply for transit pass

Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar has directed quarry and crusher unit owners to obtain permission from the Department of Geology and Mines for storage and transportation of M-sand and gravel. As per the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Illegal Mining Transportation and Storage of Minerals and Mineral Dealers Rules, 2011, quarry and crusher units required appropriate permission from the district administration for storing M-sand and gravel and also for transporting them. Further, as the transit pass system for transporting M-sand and gravel comes into effect from June 12, quarry and crusher units have been instructed to furnish the required details on . Following registration, a free transit pass would be issued which could be used for transporting M-sand and gravel materials. For further details, applicants can contact the Department of Geology and Mining office on the Collectorate premises.

New transit pass with barcodes for transport of m-sand, crushed stones introduced in Virudhunagar district

Virudhunagar district has adopted computerised transit pass with barcode for transportation of minerals like M-sand and crushed stones with effect from Thursday. In a statement, Virudhunagar district Collector V.P. Jeyaseelan, said that all traders involved in business of stocking of minerals should have registered themselves for stocking the materials. The Collector said that the practice of using transit pass with hologram stickers and seal by officials has been stopped. The new transit pass would be on online mode and printed on security paper with barcode. It would be issued through The Collector warned that vehicles transporting m-sand and crushed stones without the new transit pass with barcodes would be seized and further action would be taken.

Further, as the transit pass system for transporting M-sand and gravel comes into effect from June 14, quarry and crusher units have been instructed to furnish the required details on . Following the registration, a free transit pass would be issued which could be used for transporting M-sand and gravel materials.
