Real Madrid forward closing in on Elche switch

Carlo Ancelotti's tenure at Real Madrid, by far, earned the club several accolades and successes. However, his lack of faith in youngsters saw the academy talents overlooked and barely ever given a chance. Advertisement Alvaro Rodriguez was one of the few young players who did manage to make an impression and earn a debut under Ancelotti. In fact, he even went on to score against Atletico Madrid on debut. Even that impressive achievement, however, did not convince the manager and he did not see minutes. Eventually, Rodriguez left for Getafe on loan. Earlier this week, the player spoke openly about how he was done waiting for the first-team call that will never come, saying, 'I think I have to leave. I can't wait much longer for the first team.' Departure around the corner As relayed by MARCA in a recent update, the 21-year-old striker is indeed closing in on an exit from the club as he nears a move to Elche. Advertisement The Primera division club are reportedly in advanced negotiations with Real Madrid over Rodriguez's transfer. Alvaro Rodriguez is close to moving to Elche. (Photo by) There are still some doubts over the minor details of the deal but the issue is well underway and expected to reach a culmination in the coming days. A departure is indeed the best option on the youngster's table for succeeding in the first team as a striker, at this point, is close to impossible. No place in Alonso's squad For starters, Xabi Alonso's system only places two forwards on the field of which Kylian Mbappe acts as a striker of sorts. Advertisement The centre forward position then faces pre-existing competition from Endrick – who is touted to be the next big striker in world football – and Gonzalo Garcia who impressed in the recent FIFA Club World Cup. It remains to be seen if Real Madrid receive a sizeable fee for Rodriguez's transfer and whether they retain any buyback clause or percentage of his rights. If their recent transactions with academy talents are anything to go by, one of the two aforementioned clauses will be included.

Four fun ways chalk can be used to keep kids entertained this summer

WITH the pavement as a canvas, kids can let their imaginations run wild this summer. Just pick up some jumbo chalks and let the multi-coloured fun begin. You can get a pack of chunky ones from The Works for £2 to make amazing artworks on paths, paving and patios. They can also be used for drawing games to play with family and friends. TARGET PRACTICE: Use various colours of chalk to draw a huge circle, and then smaller circles inside. Colour in a bullseye in the middle. Give each ring between circles a points score, saving the highest mark for the middle. Get players to take turns tossing in three bean bags or small stones and then add up their score. HOP TO IT: Turn a garden path into an obstacle course. Use chalk to draw a series of squares or circles, each with a task. One could say, 'Hop forward three spaces,' or 'Do five star jumps' or 'Spin three times'. Kids can throw a beanbag or stone and do whatever it says on the landing space. MAKE A MURAL: Use a patio or flat area of paving big enough to fit the bodies of your family or group of friends. Get each person to lie down on the ground and draw around their bodies with chalk. Once you've traced them, add details to the outlines, drawing everyone's hair, clothes and faces. I save £2,500 every summer by planning kids' activities in JANUARY... here's how you can too Add their favourite things or speech bubbles for a bit of fun. Don't forget to take a picture before the mural gets worn away. PICTURE PERFECT: Youngsters will love creating pictures, such as flowers and rainbows, deep-sea scenes or an outer space picture. Set them a theme to unleash their ideas. Older ones can recreate a photo or picture using chalk. A great tip is to print out the picture and then draw a grid over the top. Create a scaled-up grid on paving or a patio. Refer back to your photo and draw what you see in each square. Square by square the pavement picture will take shape. Manchester United confirm the signing of Enzo Kana-Biyik

Manchester United have confirmed their fourth signing of the summer after the capture of another talented youngster. The Fantastic Four The Red Devils have already added Matheus Cunha (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Diego Leon (Cerro Porteño) and Harley Emsden-James (Southampton) to their ranks this month. Advertisement However, only Cunha – the 26-year-old Brazil international who will take over the number ten shirt from Marcus Rashford – is expected to play a prominent role in Ruben Amorim's first-team squad. Negotiations are ongoing with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo with confidence amongst executives at Old Trafford that an agreement will be struck for the 25-year-old forward. But United's focus since INEOS assumed control of the club has been as geared towards signing the best young talent from across the globe, evidence by 18-year-old Leon's capture from Paraguay and 16-year-old Emsden-James from the south coast of England, as it has been senior players. And now, another starlet has been added to the ranks at the Theatre of Dreams – 18-year-old striker Enzo Kana-Biyik, although he will not remain in Manchester for very long this summer. Advertisement A Transfer then a Loan United had reached an agreement for Kana-Biyik towards the end of last season, beating out competition from continental rivals to secure the youngster's signature. Tweet: 'We are excited to announce the signing of Enzo Kana-Biyik 🤝 The young forward will spend the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Lausanne-Sport — best of luck, Enzo!' The France youth international scored nine goals in 18 appearances for the u-19 side at Le Havre's famed academy. United's website describes the 18-year-old as an 'exciting young forward' who signs on a free transfer as his contract in France expired this summer. Advertisement But the plan for Kana-Biyik is to utilise INEOS' sporting network to aid his development. He will join Swiss Super League side, FC Lausanne-Sport – another club in Sir Jim Ratcliffe's portfolio, along with OGC Nice in France. Kana-Biyik will receive more first-team opportunities in Lausanne than in Manchester at a crucial stage of his development as a forward. The path towards Old Trafford starts first in the Stade de la Tuilière for United's newest wonderkid, with Kana-Biyik pictured holding his adopted side's shirt below. Amazing moment heroic youngsters pull 11-month-old baby and young couple from car after it flips onto its side

A heroic group of youngsters pulled an 11-month-old baby and a young couple from a car after it flipped on its side. The photo was taken by a bystander and shows the men on top of the black car after the crash on a residential road in Kent. It shows the group rescuing those inside the car as well as a man and his 11-month-old son, who had been dragged from the wreckage by those who rushed to help. The mother of the baby was also rescued from the car through the passenger side of the vehicle. Robert Winstanley took the picture after the accident on Sturry Road, Canterbury, as he was walking to a supermarket at about 5pm yesterday. He said: 'Just as I was coming to the Esso garage, I saw all of these youngsters, about 100 yards away, rush into the road. 'As I got closer, I could see a car had flipped onto its side, and some of them were standing on the roof trying to reach those trapped inside.' Mr Winstanley says the group - believed to be aged in their late teens - pulled the father and baby from the car before rescuing the mother. He added: 'I spoke to her while they were waiting for an ambulance to arrive. 'She was understandably in shock and crying, but they were all unhurt.' Mr Winstanley described those who stepped in to help as 'heroes' who had put themselves at risk. He said: 'It was really heartening to see, especially given what is often said about young people. 'The car could have turned into a fireball at any minute. 'After everyone was out of the vehicle, they were all shaking each other's hands and high-fiving each other.' An off-duty police officer managed traffic until emergency crews arrived. The road was blocked in both directions while the scene was made safe and the vehicle was recovered.
