ENG Pacer Tries To Distract Shubman Gill With No-Ball Signal, Picture Goes Viral
The incident took place during the 34th over of India's first innings of the second Test, which is taking place at Edgbaston in Birmingham.
Shubman Gill is leading India in the second Test against England, which is taking place at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The right-handed batter from Punjab came out to bat at No. 4 for the visitors in the first innings after Karun Nair's wicket and was batting on 42 runs at the end of the second session on Wednesday (July 2).
During the second session of the first day's play, England pacer Brydon Carse tried to distract him by making a bizarre no-ball signal during his run-up. The incident took place before the fourth ball of the 34th over of India's first innings bowled by Carse.
Carse was spotted making a no-ball signal with his left hand in his run-up. Gill spotted the activity and moved away from his batting stance at the last minute. While the English pacer did deliver the ball, it was declared a dead ball by the umpire, as the Indian captain pointed out Carse's activity as the reason behind his decision.

Gill, who scored 147 runs for India in the first innings of the first Test played against England at Headingley in Leeds, would like to score big runs in the first innings of the second Test as well and help India post a big total.
In the second session of opening day's play, Gill added 66 runs for the third wicket with Yashasvi Jaiswal (87) before England captain Ben Stokes removed Jaiswal. The left-handed opening batter was caught behind by Jamie Smith.
Had Jaiswal scored 13 more runs, he would have equalled Sourav Ganguly's 29-year-old record of being the only Indian batter to score a century in his first two Test matches played on English soil. Ganguly made his Test debut for India against England at Lord's on June 20, 1996, and scored 131 runs. In his second Test, which was played at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, Ganguly scored 136 runs in the first innings.
Jaiswal, who is India's highest-ranked Test batter, played his first Test in England at Headingley from June 20 to 24, 2025, and scored 101 runs from 109 balls in the first innings.
Jaiswal, who is one of the best Test batters of present times, loves playing against the English team. In seven Tests played so far against the Poms, Jaiswal has scored 904 runs.
