Battlefield 6 leak: Rumors hint at open class weapon system
(Image via DICE) The Battlefield franchise might be heading into bold new territory. A recent leak suggests that Battlefield 6 could ditch one of its longest-standing mechanics — class-based weapon restrictions. If true, this change could redefine how players approach combat in the next installment. But it's also stirred quite a debate among longtime fans. No More Locked Loadouts? Traditionally, Battlefield games have tied specific weapons to specific classes. Assault classes got rifles, Recon players used snipers, and Support carried LMGs. But if leaks from the Battlefield Labs test environment are to be believed, Battlefield 6 is set to introduce a more flexible system. Rather than locking guns to classes, players may be free to equip any weapon they want, regardless of their role. Want to play Recon but use a shotgun? Go for it. Prefer to be an Assault medic with a sniper? That might soon be possible. New Battlefield 6 Leaks Suggest An Open Beta Coming Soon! Perks Over Restrictions Instead of forcing weapon limitations, the new system reportedly introduces perks to incentivize using a class's 'Signature Weapon.' For example: Recon with sniper rifles : Less scope sway, faster reloads, steadier aim. Assault with assault rifles : Quicker weapon swaps and smoother sprint-to-shoot transitions. So while the freedom is there, players still benefit from sticking to their class's core identity. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Cách giao dịch ETH/USD mà không cần nắm giữ Ether IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo This Battlefield 6 Reveal Leak Changes EVERYTHING Custom Progression: Training & Specialization Another rumored feature is a 'Training' system that evolves your class over time. As you play, you'll unlock abilities like Recon players gaining access to area scans via UAVs. This progression system might work in tandem with leaked 'Class Specializations,' giving players more control over how they build their soldier. Fans Are Split — But Nothing's Final As expected, not everyone is thrilled. Some players worry this shift will dilute teamwork, reduce tactical variety, or turn Battlefield into just another shooter. Others welcome the experimentation, hoping it adds replayability and personalization. Worth noting: all of this is still in testing. With Battlefield Labs acting as a sandbox for feedback and iteration, EA could easily pivot back if the open weapon system doesn't land well. With whispers of an open beta on the horizon, fans may soon get hands-on experience to judge for themselves. All eyes are on Battlefield 6 as it continues to evolve in unexpected and potentially game-changing ways. When is Battlefield 6 going to be revealed?
Image via DICE. Previously it was rumored that Battlefield 6 might get delayed, but according to a prominent member of the development team, the initial reveal plan is still on the cards. Lots of leaked gameplay footage of the upcoming game has surfaced online from the Battlefield Labs testing program. However fans are yet to get any confirmed news about this title. After GTA 6 got delayed to 2026, a lot of developers are trying to stay away from releasing their titles in that period. DICE is also one of them, and we might see Battlefield 6 getting released this year instead of its initial release window of March 2026. Is Battlefield 6 going to be revealed this summer? Battlefield 6 was initially slated to be revealed in the summer of 2025 and we are just around 3 months from the end of that period. Still, there hasn't been any concrete news about revealing the game from the developers. That is why many people thought this game might get its reveal delayed as well, as this installment is believed to be the biggest game of the long-hailed franchise. But that's not the case. In an online conversation on Twitter, the senior director of integrated communications at Battlefield Studio, Andy McNamara, confirmed that the studio is still rooting to reveal the game this summer. As previously mentioned, Battlefield 6 is going to be the most ambitious installment of the release, following the involvement of the largest team the franchise has ever seen - DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and EA Motive. Also EA is pledged to move on from the disasters of Battlefield 2024 as the company has launched the Battlefield Labs program. Via this, players will be able to send their precious feedback on the game while it's in development, by joining under a non-disclosure agreement. In that conversation, McNamara emphasized on the Battlefield Labs as well as they are fully focused on this program. That means the developers are leaving no stones unturned to make every fan feedback count. Initially the summer reveal looked a bit unlikely keeping in mind the long-term program, but McNamara's assuring words has now cleared all the doubts and we might hope for a stunning reveal very soon. The next Battlefield game will launch sometime before April 2026
Electronic Arts has confirmed that the next Battlefield game will be revealed this summer, ahead of a launch date some time before April 2026. The news was shared in the company's Q4 and and financial year 2025 results , published this week. EA CEO Andrew Wilson called the latest installment in the long-running first-person shooter series a 'pivotal step in delivering on our next generation of blockbuster entertainment' and recommitted to a previously announced FY26 release window for the currently untitled game. That means it can't launch any later than March 2026, when EA's fiscal year ends. A launch date before April next year would mean the new Battlefield game will get a bit of room to breathe before the recently delayed Grand Theft Auto 6 , which is supposed to arrive on May 26, 2026. Like every other publisher on the planet, EA has likely factored GTA 6 into its own upcoming launch plans for a number of titles. Eurogamer reported earlier this year that Wilson had admitted a willingness to delay games in order to get out of the way of the (unnamed, but heavily implied) competition. The most recent Battlefield game was 2021's Battlefield 2042 , to which EA has steadily added new content. Back in February, EA launched Battlefield Labs , a community testing initiative that allows registered fans to playtest and give feedback on series fundamentals such as combat, destruction, vehicles and map designs. EA also confirmed in an investor call that it currently has no plans to increase the price of its games, following the recent Xbox price hike and Nintendo making the decision to charge a whopping $80 for Mario Kart World on its upcoming Switch 2.

The NEW #Battlefield allows you to drag DOWNED Teammates to a safer position to revive them 🔥Wish we had this in Warzone 😭 — DETONATED (@DETONATEDcom) March 8, 2025 around 9 minutes of footage with sound since it seems EA retracted the takedowns — bob.
