Michelle Obama compares Barack divorce rumors to 'apocalypse'

In her new chapter, the "IMO" podcast cohost has emerged more outspoken than ever, telling Martin that "even in this phase in our lives, when Barack and I say something right or wrong, it does get covered (by news outlets)." She added: "You know, the fact that people don't see me going out on a date with my husband sparks rumors of the end of our marriage," before Martin chimed in and quipped that "it's like the apocalypse!" Then, Obama agreed that the response is like "the apocalypse." Michelle Obama hits back at divorce rumors that start when she makes 'a choice for myself' "It's like, OK, so we don't Instagram every minute of our lives," the mom of two said. "We are 60. We're 60 y'all. ... You just are not gonna know what we're doing every minute of the day, you know?" During an April episode of her "IMO With Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson" podcast, which she cohosts with her brother Craig Robinson, Obama addressed her choice to skip President Donald Trump's second inauguration ceremony. Michelle Obama says 'everyone would know' if she divorced Barack Obama: 'I'm not a martyr' "My decision to skip the inauguration - or my decision to make choices at the beginning of this year that suited me - were met with such ridicule and criticism," Obama explained during the episode. "People couldn't believe that I was saying no for any other reason. They had to assume that my marriage was falling apart." Michelle Obama repeatedly slams divorce rumors The Obamas sparked online divorce speculation after her husband appeared solo at the January affair, but she pushed back on critics of her choice. "I'm here really trying to own my life and intentionally practice making the choice that was right for me, and it took everything in my power to not do the thing that 'was right,' or was perceived as right, but do the things that was right for me," she added on "IMO." But Obama stressed, once again, to Martin on the June 26 episode that her decision was the right choice for her. Michelle Obama reveals daughter Malia Obama's name change "One of the major decisions I made this year (was) to stay put and not attend funerals and inaugurations and all the things that I'm supposed to. That was a part of me using my ambition to say, "Let me define what I want to do, apart from what I'm supposed to do, what the world expects of me," the "Becoming" author told the NPR host. "And I had, I have to own that. Those are my choices," she continued. "Whatever the backlash was, I had to sit in it and own it. But I didn't regret it, you know? It's my life now, and I can say that, now. But we'll see there. Maybe next year we sit down, I'll go, "You know, Rachel, I went a little too far."

Michelle Obama addresses ‘rumors of the end of our marriage'

Michelle Obama is addressing speculation about marital discord with former President Obama, saying the public isn't going to know what the couple is doing 'every minute of the day.' 'Even in this phase in our lives, when Barack and I say something, right or wrong, it does get covered,' the former first lady told Rachel Martin in an interview on NPR's 'Wild Card,' released Thursday. 'The fact that people don't see me going out on a date with my husband sparks rumors of the end of our marriage,' Obama said of tabloid reports of trouble in the relationship between the former first couple, who tied the knot in 1992. 'It's the apocalypse,' Martin quipped with a laugh in response. 'It's the apocalypse,' Obama echoed. 'So we don't Instagram every minute of our lives — we are 60,' the 'Becoming' author and host of the 'IMO' podcast said. 'You just are not going to know what we're doing every minute of the day, you know?' Obama, 61, said. 'And yes, I guess we're famous, but we're 60,' Obama repeated with a grin. 'We don't take selfies,' she said. It's not the first time that Obama has weighed in on chatter about her more than 30-year marital union with the ex-commander in chief, which picked up steam following her absence at President Trump's inauguration in January. During an interview last month, she said with a laugh, 'If I were having problems with my husband, everybody would know about it.'

Michelle Obama says Barack Obama divorce rumor reactions are like 'the apocalypse'

In recent months, former first lady Michelle Obama has happily become a wild card. While appearing on the Thursday, June 26, episode of NPR podcast "Wild Card with Rachel Martin," she made new comments about her marriage to former President Barack Obama. In her new chapter, the "IMO" podcast cohost has emerged more outspoken than ever, telling Martin that "even in this phase in our lives, when Barack and I say something right or wrong, it does get covered (by news outlets)." Michelle Obama leaves no chances to roast her husband, and this time with ‘not having a son'

On the latest episode of her podcast 'Michelle Obama: The Light Podcast' (formerly titled 'IMO'), the former first lady sat down with her brother Craig Robinson and radio personality Angie Martinez to reflect on parenting, masculinity, and what life might've looked like if she and former President Barack Obama had a son. 'You should've threw a boy in the mix,' Martinez said playfully, alluding to Michelle's two daughters, Malia and Sasha. But Michelle didn't skip a beat. 'I'm so glad I didn't have a boy,' she replied with a laugh. Martinez chimed in, 'Baby Barack — it would've been amazing!' 'Ooh, no, I would've felt for him,' she said. Her brother Craig added, 'She just borrowed our boys,' referencing his own children. Michelle agreed, saying, 'I got plenty.' 'I think Barack is just like you as a tremendous father, doing it in a lot of grandeur, right,' she added. Conveniently enough, the former First Lady's musings hinted at a possible obsession with the 32-year bond between her and Barack, which many speculated was in troubled waters. 'Teach [your son] about how to deal with the traffic stop, but also teach him how to communicate in a marriage and to be a listening father,' she expressed. Michelle also shared Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24, were young girls when their father became president, and they spent a huge portion of their growing up years inside the White House. 'I've loved every phase of parenting: I loved them when they were little babies, I loved them when they were walking and starting to talk, the teenage years were interesting in the White House,' Michelle said. Michelle Obama says she is ‘so glad' she didn't have a son: ‘Would have been a Barack Obama'

She's not kidding around. Former first lady Michelle Obama said she was 'glad' she didn't have a son because he would have turned out exactly like her husband, former President Barack Obama. Obama, 61, doled out the ego-checking barb on Wednesday's episode of 'IMO,' the podcast she hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, as the siblings were chatting with Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez, who suggested the mother of two 'should have threw a boy in the mix.' 'I'm so glad I didn't have a boy,' Sasha and Malia's mom plainly stated. 'Because he would have been a Barack Obama. Ooh,' the 'Becoming' author said, looking down and shaking her head for emphasis. It would have been amazing,' Martinez enthusiastically countered. 'No, I woulda felt for him,' Obama said. The episode focused extensively on parenting male children as Martinez has one son and Robinson has three boys. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Obama's musings pointed to a potential preoccupation with her 32-year marriage to the former president — which many have speculated is on the rocks. 'Teach [your son] about how to deal with the traffic stop, but also teach him how to communicate in a marriage and to be a listening father,' Obama said before scoffing at the idea of having a baby Barack. Michelle Obama/instagram Despite the possibly unintended jab, Michelle praised her hubby for his parenting prowess just last week in an interview with rock legend — and noted Democrat — Bruce Springsteen. 'I think Barack is just like you as a tremendous father, doing it in a lot of grandeur, right,' Obama told The Boss on the June 11 'IMO.' As rumors of the couple's divorce swirled, the Obamas went on a high-visibility date in Midtown Manhattan at the swanky Lowell Hotel restaurant last month and were seen cozying up on another restaurant date in Washington, DC, in April. The 'Overcoming' scribe revealed that she is currently in therapy and is 'transitioning' to a different phase of her life.
