The Steam Summer Sale is live with a fresh batch of big discounts

Get ready for your game library to grow, because the Steam Summer Sale is open and ready for business. The promotion runs through July 11, so you've got plenty of time to peruse all of the available deals, but there are a couple fun highlights in this season's selections. For starters, two likely contenders for 2025 game of the year are on sale. You can pick up the spectacular puzzle game Blue Prince for 15 percent off or about $25, and the lush Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has a slight discount of 10 percent, which puts it at $45. I'm sad they didn't go thematic and make it $33, but even a small price cut is nice for games this recent. A couple other newish releases are available at smaller discounts. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is 20 percent off, as is Black Myth: Wukong , while Civilization VII is 15 percent off. The Silent Hill 2 remake is down to $42 thanks to a 40 percent cut. Most of the biggest deals are on older titles. For instance, if you don't already own the excellent Doom (2016), it's only $4 with an 80 percent off discount. Or pick up Death Stranding Director's Cut for just $16. Steam sales are also a prime chance to add more indies to your library. For multiplayer mayhem, Human Fall Flat and Overcooked 2 are each $6. You can explore the beautiful underwater world of Abzu for just $5. Chicory: A Colorful Tale is half off at $10 and Slime Rancher 2 is down to $20. Those are just a few of the highlights. Now you just have to find the time to play everything you buy.

This year has largely been defined by unexpected surprises, including indie titles Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Blue Prince, but several AAA blockbusters have also made a significant splash. The biggest of these, at least in terms of sales, is Monster Hunter Wilds. Capcom's elaborate action role-player has already surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide after only a few months, and looks set to rival the publisher's best-selling title ever, in Monster Hunter: World. If you haven't yet tapped into the joys of slaying wondrous beasts for a fancy pair of leggings, Monster Hunter Wilds has received a significant discount on Amazon. At the time of writing, Monster Hunster Wilds on PlayStation 5 is 42% off at £37.85. If you're on Xbox Series X, it's an even better deal with 55% off at £29.10. It's unclear how long the deal will last for, but it's the cheapest offer you can find for the console version from a reputable retailer. Plus, if you're new to Monster Hunter, this is arguably the best entry for learning the ropes – as long as you don't mind fumbling through some confusing menus. More Trending According to the now-deleted listing, the update will add two monsters from previous titles; Lagiacrus from Monster Hunter 3 and another 'fan favourite', which is expected to be Seregios from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – based on prior datamines. The update, which is set to launch on Monday, June 30, will also include a new Arch-Tempered Uth Duna monster, layered weapons and events. Aside from Monster Hunter Wilds, Capcom's Spotlight showcase is also set to show off more from Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Street Fighter 6. Blue Prince patch notes 1.05: Corrupted saves & loading screen fix, gameplay improvements, and more

(Image via Dogubomb) The wait is over. Patch 1.05 for Blue Prince is finally here, and it brings some much-needed fixes, especially if you've been stuck staring at the main menu screen for way too long. Patch 1.05 is live on Steam and tackles some of the most frustrating bugs players have faced since launch, including the dreaded loading freeze. Here's a crisp breakdown of what's new and what's fixed. Save Corruption & Loading Freeze Finally Resolved One of the most significant fixes in this patch addresses save file corruption that caused game freezes when trying to load from the main menu. If you've been stuck in limbo, this was likely the culprit. While corrupted saves from before the patch can't be recovered, the devs have now added a backup system—if your primary save gets corrupted in the future, the game will automatically load a backup version instead. For PlayStation Plus users, there's a silver lining. You can try restoring an older cloud backup using the following steps: Settings → Saved Data and Game/App Settings Select 'Saved Data (PS5)' Go to 'Download or Delete from Cloud Storage' Choose Blue Prince , select your save Hit Download It's not guaranteed, but it's helped some players get their progress back. How To Fix Blue Prince Crashing On Steam PC Trophy Data Import Feature is Coming Have you lost trophies or achievements tied to an old save? The devs are working on a new 'IMPORT TROPHY DATA' feature that will sync previously earned achievements, even if those save files no longer exist. Blue Prince is coming to Mac

Blue Prince, the architectural mystery puzzle roguelite, is coming to a Mac near you. In a press release from the game's publisher Raw Fury, it was announced that Blue Prince is getting an update that will add Mac support (via Steam) coming 'later this year.' Blue Prince released earlier this year and quickly became an early GOTY candidate with folks (i.e. me) drawing comparisons to the runaway hit Balatro. The game is kinda like Brewster's Millions with a heaping helping of intricate puzzles to solve and roguelite mechanics to keep you on your toes. In it, your recently deceased uncle has given you the keys to his beloved Mt. Holly manor and has stipulated in his will that the house will be yours if you can find the secret 46th room. The manor is mysterious and its layout shifts and changes every night. Build rooms and solve puzzles to get closer to discovering that 46th room while solving other, deeper mysteries along the way. It's a great game, and definitely well-suited to play sessions on a Macbook Air. In addition to the new platform – which joins PC, PS5, and the Xbox Series X / S – starting today the game's subtle but vibey soundtrack will be available for purchase on Steam. You can buy it either standalone for $10 or, if you don't already own the game, it's being bundled with the soundtrack for $36.

World's Biggest Modding Site Has Been Sold After 24 Years: 'The Strain Of Being Responsible For The Behemoth I Created Has Taken Its Toll'

Nexus Mods is changing hands. The vast database for free mods of PC games ranging from The Witcher 3 to Stardew Valley has been sold for the first time since it was created 24 years ago. 'The strain of being responsible for the behemoth I created has taken its toll,' previous owner Dark0ne wrote in an update on Monday. 'The stress of the job has been a regular source of anxiety and stress-related health issues.' Nexus Mods is where thousands of modders go to share their creations. Whenever a new game comes out, be it big like Monster Hunter Wilds or small like Blue Prince, mods quickly become available on Nexus for everything from helping with inventory management to enhancing visuals. It's been a cornerstone of PC gaming for many players for decades now, though Dark0ne suggested nothing much will change in the day-to-day now that he's no longer running it. 'I started this project back in 2001, in my bedroom, with a 56k modem, an excitement for the upcoming release of Morrowind and with no grand ambitions or intentions,' he wrote in an update on the Nexus Mods website. 'I didn't set out to build a business, I just wanted to make a place where modders could share their work without worrying it would vanish into the internet either [sic] the next time a fansite went offline or a publisher decided they were done with it. That idea grew legs, sprouted arms, and turned into Nexus Mods.' Dark0ne said he's been looking for someone else to take over management of Nexus Mods for a while now due to all the stress of running a small online social network, but it wasn't until recently that he found someone to take over who 'really 'gets' the modding community the way I do.' He didn't reveal who that someone is, though, or the price tag for the deal. Is Nexus Mods about to get way worse? Some users are already freaking out about paid subscriptions coming. Dark0ne claims not much will change in the immediate future, though. 'Behind the scenes, I've already been stepping back bit by bit,' he wrote. 'Over the past few years, the team has taken on more of the weight and the site's been doing better than ever. What's changing now is simply the formality of it, making sure the right people are in place to guide Nexus Mods into the next era. That includes some structural updates to the company ownership that we aren't shouting about, but I want to be transparent: they're about long-term stability, not changing the values or direction of the platform. Nexus Mods is community-first and mod-author focused, that's not up for negotiation.' Some shifts have already been underway at Nexus Mods, which is run by a team of 40 people. A big one was moving to ease rules on modders getting paid for their work. Some modders now link to Patreons and other places where people can donate to them directly for ongoing updates to certain popular mods in games like Starfield and Elden Ring. Nexus Mods community managers said at the time that the goal was to find a way to balance compensation incentives with the desire to keep the modding scene free and open, even as companies like Bethesda try to monetize creator work in their games. Nexus Mods has also recently taken stands again bigotry. The site refused to host a Starfield mod back in 2023 that deleted pronoun options from the game. Nexus Mods told 404 Media at the time that it wasn't meant as a political statement, but as a way to protect its users. '[The] removal of diversity, while appealing to many, does not promote a positive modding community,' they said. . For the latest news, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
