Lee Min Ho planning marriage and kids soon? Actor reveals type of girlfriend he's looking for, 'Someone who...'

Lee Min Ho is known for his polished public image and iconic roles in dramas like Boys Over Flowers, The Heirs, and The King: Eternal Monarch. But in a recent interview held on July 17 at a café in Samcheong-dong, Seoul, the actor sat down to share his thoughts. He offered a refreshingly honest look at the man behind the fame. The interview was conducted as part of the promotional tour for his upcoming film Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy. But the conversation didn't stop at work. Instead, Lee Min Ho spoke about his personal life, his views on marriage and family. He revealed how his mindset has shifted as he enters the late thirties chapter of his life. Lee Min Ho gets real about marriage When asked directly about his views on marriage, the actor gave a simple yet thought-provoking answer: 'I should get married.' His candid remark was met with light laughter, but he went on to elaborate on the deeper meaning behind it. He shared that as time passes, he finds himself reflecting more deeply on what truly matters in life. This growing awareness has gradually led him to value the idea of starting a family and having children. 'I naturally think about marriage as well,' he added. However, he acknowledged that the path to finding a life partner hasn't been straightforward. 'But it doesn't work out as planned. I feel like a miracle has to happen,' he confessed. 'It's still vague, but if there comes a moment when I instinctively feel 'this is a miracle,' shouldn't I get married?' What Lee Min Ho wants in a life partner Lee Min Ho also addressed what he looks for in a partner and it's not about external perfection. He explained that his way of relating to people, including women, tends to differ from the norm. While he hasn't set any fixed criteria, he hinted that his choice would likely come down to meeting one of two key qualities that matter most to him. Lee explained, 'Up until now, I think I've lived my life not thinking much of the small happiness, the happiness that comes from the small moments of everyday life.' Lee further added, 'So I think I'd rather be someone who lives by looking at small things. I feel like I have to find someone who can think about 'what we're moving forward for' together with me.' Lee Min Ho shared that he envisions his ideal partner as someone with a personality quite unlike his own. He added that their profession doesn't matter to him, whether they're in the same industry or not isn't a deciding factor. About Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy The film is based on the popular web novel of the same name. It follows a man named Kim Dok Ja, played by Ahn Hyo Seop. He suddenly finds himself trapped in the world of a fantasy novel he had been reading. Lee Min Ho takes on the role of Yoo Joong Hyuk, the novel's original protagonist. He's a fearless warrior determined to prevent the world from collapsing. The film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 23, 2025.

Divorced actress Lee Si-young confirms pregnancy through IVF

Lee Si-young, who has a seven-old-son with her former husband, is now pregnant via in-vitro fertilisation. Photo: Lee Si-young/Instagram South Korean actress Lee Si-young is pregnant with her second child, several months after her divorce. The 43-year-old confirmed in March that she and her then husband, restaurant entrepreneur Cho Seong-hyun, had split after submitting divorce documents to the Seoul Family Court earlier in 2025. She married Cho, who is nine years older, in September 2017, and gave birth to their son Jung-yoon in January 2018. Lee took to Instagram on July 8 to make the surprise announcement of her latest pregnancy. 'Eight years ago, when I was expecting Jung-yoon, who is now the most important person in my life, I was not married and was filming a TV drama,' she wrote in Korean. 'I was younger at that time and had many shortcomings.' Lee said as her son grew older, she regretted feeling so anxious during her pregnancy. 'I prepared for my second child through in-vitro fertilisation during my marriage,' she added. 'The fertilised embryo was not implanted and, as time passed, the topic of divorce was raised. As all the legalities (of our marriage) were being sorted out, coincidentally, the time came for us to make a choice as the five-year embryo storage limit was almost up.' Lee said she decided to have the embryos implanted, even though it was done without her former husband's consent. 'I had always wanted another child, and I didn't want to experience the regret I felt with Jung-yoon again,' she wrote. 'I couldn't bear the thought of disposing the embryos as they reached the end of their storage period.' She added the only thing that kept her going during her difficult marriage was her son, who filled her with happiness, hope and inspiration. 'I had a miraculous child who made me feel like motherhood was the reason for my existence,' she said. 'I know there are a lot of challenges ahead, and I have had concerns about various scenarios, but all these aside, I want to believe that my choice is worth it.' Cho confirmed to South Korean media outlet Dispatch that he was initially against Lee's decision, as they are divorced. However, he said he will fulfil his responsibility as a father now that his ex-wife is pregnant with their second child. 'We have been communicating frequently due to our first child,' he said. 'We will do our best to fulfil our respective roles by discussing the necessary aspects of giving birth and raising a second child.' Lee made her acting debut in 2008 and rose to prominence in the hit K-drama Boys Over Flowers (2009) and the first season of reality variety show We Got Married in 2009. More recently, she acted in Netflix apocalyptic series Sweet Home (2020 to 2024), receiving favourable reviews for her role as Yi-kyung, a firefighter and former special forces soldier. She is currently starring in comedy-action drama Salon De Holmes , playing one of the four housewives who become amateur sleuths in their neighbourhood while rediscovering their aspirations. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
