What's A True Crime Case No One Talks About?
There are a lot of true crime stories that are so infamous it feels like evveeeerrryone knows about them — Jeffrey Dahmer, John Wayne Gacy, and D.B. list goes on. But on the flip side, there are actually many true crime stories not a lot of people have heard about before. For example, have you ever heard of the "Hangman" or "Killer Cop," aka Gerard John Schaefer Jr.? He was a former sheriff's deputy and suspected serial killer active in Florida during the '70s who killed two teen girls. It's suspected he actually had dozens more victims. Or did you know about the unsolved Santa Rosa hitchhiker murders that took place from 1972–1973 in Northern California? There were seven confirmed killings, but possibly a lot more. Perhaps you've gone your whole life not knowing that the R.E.M. song, 'What's the Frequency, Kenneth?' is a reference to the 1986 crime where CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather was attacked and mugged by two men while one of them repeatedly said, "Kenneth, what is the frequency?' Basically, what I'm saying is, there are A LOOOOOOT of unbelievable, true crime stories out there, especially ones people don't talk enough about. So we wanna know: what's a lesser-known true crime story that we haven't already heard?! Jimmy Kimmel irate over Colbert cancellation, criticizes CBS ending 'Late Show'
The entertainment world is reacting in shock to CBS canceling its late night talk show "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert." After Colbert announced the news on his show late Thursday, July 17, Hollywood expressed confusion around the move and support for Colbert, who will be leaving his post after more than a decade at "The Late Show" in 2026. Jimmy Kimmel, a longtime friend of Colbert, reshared the comedian's announcement on his Instagram stories, and the "Jimmy Kimmel Live" host didn't hold back in his reaction. "Love you Stephen," Kimmel wrote, going on to seemingly mock the network for favoring safe sitcoms with a choice expletive. "(Forget) you and all your Sheldons CBS." 'Late Show with Stephen Colbert' to end next May: 'This is all just going away' Actor and producer Ben Stiller, a regular guest on Colbert's show, tweeted: "Sorry to hear @CBS is canceling one of the best shows they have. Wishing all the people who work so hard on that show all the best." And in the comments of Colbert's announcement on Instagram, stars including Adam Scott, Katie Couric and Jon Batiste shared support. "Love you Stephen," replied Scott. "I for one am looking forward to the next 10 months of shows." Couric, a former "CBS Evening News" anchor, inquired for more details. "I am so upset about this. I need more information. We love you." Stephen Colbert announces end of 'The Late Show.' See what he said. In a statement from Paramount Global, CBS' parent company, the company called the move "purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content, or other matters happening at Paramount." Paramount Global agreed on July 1 to a controversial $16 million settlement with President Donald Trump over a defamation lawsuit tied to a "60 Minutes" interview with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. The settlement was widely criticized as a financial concession to facilitate the studio's pending sale to Skydance Media, which requires regulatory approval from the Trump administration. Another regular "Late Show" guest, Batiste, shared kind words: "The greatest to ever do it." As did Judd Apatow. "My admiration and appreciation for you is bottomless," the director wrote. "Excited to see what other brilliance you put into the world." Contributing: Bryan Alexander

Iran ‘needs more time' to decide on resuming nuclear talks with US
Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi has ruled out a quick resumption of talks with the United States after President Donald Trump said US negotiations with Tehran could restart as early as this week. Araghchi's comments on CBS Evening News on Monday came as the foreign ministers of the G7 issued a statement calling for dialogue on a deal to curb Iran's nuclear programme. Iran and the US were holding talks on Tehran's nuclear programme when Israel launched attacks on Iran's nuclear and military infrastructure. The US later joined in Israel's attacks, by bombing the Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan sites on June 21. Tehran insists its programme is peaceful, but the US and Israel say they want to ensure Iran cannot build a nuclear weapon. Araghchi said negotiations would not start as quickly as Trump had indicated, and that Iran first needs assurances against further attacks. 'In order for us to decide to reengage, we would have to first ensure that America will not revert back to targeting us in a military attack during the negotiations,' the minister said. 'I think with all these considerations, we still need more time,' he said, although 'the doors of diplomacy will never slam shut'. (Agencies)

Bezos Wedding's Hollywood Dust-Up: Rosie O'Donnell Dings Oprah, Charlize Theron Says Guests ‘Suck' and More
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's wedding sure brought out the celebrities, both in attendance – and those criticizing the event. Celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey, Tom Brady, Sydney Sweeney and more attended the Venice-based wedding this past weekend. Their choice to show up to the lavish affair was ridiculed by other A-listers online. Many of them did not hold back how they felt. 'I think we might be the only people who did not get an invite to the Bezos wedding, but that's okay because they suck and we're cool,' Charlize Theron said at the fifth annual block party for her charity – Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project – in L.A. She continued: 'Here in Los Angeles, in the U.S. and across the globe, we're moving backwards fast. Immigration policy has destroyed the lives of families, not criminals; women's rights are becoming less and less every day; queer and trans lives are increasingly being erased; and gender-based violence is on the rise. This isn't just policy, it's personal.' She ended her speech succinctly with a 'yeah, f–k them.' Rosie O'Donnell also took to her Instagram to eviscerate not only the wedding but Oprah specifically for attending. 'The Bezos' wedding. It turned my stomach seeing all these billionaires gathering in the gross excess of it all. The show of it,' O'Donnell wrote. 'Is Oprah friends with Jeff Bezos? Really? How is that possible? He treats his employees with disdain. By any metric he is not a nice man. And his fake fem bot wife who looks like that. Why would he choose her after the salt of the earth Mackenzie [Scott]? Sold his soul is what it looks like from here. The devil is smiling at all his conquests.' Katie Couric went after Sánchez's dress. The former CBS Evening News anchor left a comment critiquing the gown on a now-deleted Jack Schlossberg post, according to TMZ. 'Welcome to the eighties — when big hair and conspicuous consumption ruled,' she wrote. 'Apparently, tacky is back.' Mia Farrow indirectly shaded the whole affair by hyping up Bezos' ex-wife Scott. It was a bit kinder way to go after the wedding than others took. 'How awesome is MacKenzie Scott! (Jeff Bezos's first wife & mother of his 4 children). As of mid-December 2024, she had given a total of $19.3 billion to over 1600 charitable organizations.' The celebrities weren't the only people calling out the reportedly $50 million wedding. The pair reportedly planned to get married in Cannaregio, in the center of the city. But mounting calls against their nuptials threatened to disrupt the wedding, which was moved elsewhere. The group said the wedding was moved to Arsenale, to the east of the original location. Iranian FM downplays quick resumption of US-Iran talks - Region
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Monday ruled out a quick resumption of talks with the United States and said Tehran will first need assurances it will not be attacked again. Araghchi, in an interview with CBS Evening News, was asked about US President Donald Trump's remarks that nuclear negotiations with Iran could resume as early as this week. "I don't think negotiations will restart as quickly as that," the Iranian foreign minister said. "In order for us to decide to reengage, we would have to first ensure that America will not revert back to targeting us in a military attack during the negotiations," Araghchi said. "I think with all these considerations we still need more time," he said, although "the doors of diplomacy will never slam shut." Araghchi was also asked about an assessment from the head of the UN's nuclear watchdog that Iran would likely be able to begin to produce enriched uranium in a matter of months. "One cannot obliterate the technology and science for enrichment through bombings," he said. "If there is this will on our part, and the will exists in order to once again make progress in this industry, we will be able to expeditiously repair the damages and make up for the lost time." The Iranian foreign minister said Tehran was prepared to defend itself if attacked again. "We showed and proved during this 12-day imposed war that we have the ability to defend ourselves and we will continue to do so should any aggression be launched against us," he said. Trump said Monday he was not offering Iran anything nor engaging in talks since the country's nuclear facilities were "totally obliterated." "I am not offering Iran ANYTHING, unlike Obama," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. "Nor am I even talking to them since we totally OBLITERATED their Nuclear Facilities." The United States and Iran were in talks over Tehran's nuclear program when Israel hit Iranian nuclear sites and military infrastructure, with the United States joining by bombing three nuclear sites -- Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan -- on June 21. Israel claims that Iran's nuclear program is close to producing a bomb, whereas Tehran says it is for peaceful purposes. Under a 2015 deal, Iran was allowed to enrich uranium below 3.67 percent purity for fuel used in commercial nuclear power plants. Trump abandoned the agreement in 2018 and Iran responded by producing uranium enriched to 60 percent -- above levels for civilian usage but still below weapons grade. That material, if further refined, would theoretically be sufficient to produce more than nine nuclear bombs. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:
