Shock detail in Julian McMahon's death certificate adds mystery to actor's final months amid Scientology link bombshell

An stunning detail in Julian McMahon's death certificate has fueled further speculation about the actor's mysterious final months of his life, after a Scientology link emerged following his death at the age of 56. The Australian-American Nip/Tuck did not have a funeral, reported on Thursday after obtaining the star's death certificate. McMahon's body was instead quietly cremated in Clearwater, Florida, where he died as an inpatient at the Morton Plant Hospital on July 2. His death certificate stated Florida's family-owned Eternal Cremation Services handled the actor's body. A spokesperson for Eternal Cremation Services told "there was not" a funeral held anywhere for McMahon and could not confirm whether his wife, Kelly, attended his cremation at Palm State Crematory. It's been revealed he died from lung metastasis linked to head and neck cancer, according to the Pinellas County cremation approval report obtained by with no autopsy report understood to come. The development follows the location of McMahon's death, Clearwater, raising questions from social media users about why the actor was in the city, where the Church of Scientology is widely known to dominate. Adding mystery to his presence in the city where the church is headquartered, McMahon's address on his death certificate is listed as a residence on Ventura Boulevard, Encino, California. However, this is a building reportedly home to a showbiz accountancy firm and two other businesses, not residences. And there do not appear to be any property records linking McMahon and Kelly to the Clearwater area. The celebrity couple previously lived in a home in Hollywood Hills before selling it for $2.18 million USD ($3.3 million AUD). It's understood Scientology members own a large portion of real estate in Clearwater, home to A-listers who follow the controversial religion, including, most famously, actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta. One commentator recently took to X to question, 'Why was Julian McMahon in Clearwater when he died? Like, that's Scientology city.' "The only celebrities that do are usually Scientologists. Surprised, that's for certain!" another person said. Other people quelled the link as the debate continued on Reddit, where one person said McMahon just simply "loved the beach". "I don't see him being involved with Scientology," another person said. McMahon's career took off with his role as Cole Turner in the hit supernatural television series Charmed from 2000 to 2003. After Charmed, he gained wider recognition from 2003 to 2010 as plastic surgeon Dr Christian Troy in the medical drama Nip/Tuck. On the big screen, McMahon is best known for playing Marvel villain Dr. Doom in Fantastic Four (2005) and its 2007 sequel Rise of the Silver Surfer. His other film credits include Premonition, RED, Paranoia, You're Not You, Swinging Safari, and, most recently, Australian film The Surfer opposite Nicolas Cage. The only son of former Prime Minister Sir William McMahon is survived by his wife Kelly, an author, and his daughter, Madison (Maddy) McMahon, 25, whom he shared with his ex-wife, model and actress Brooke Burns.

Ian Ziering, Tori Spelling, and more remember Shannen Doherty 1 year after her death

A year after Shannen Doherty's death, her former "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed" co-stars, including Tori Spelling and Ian Ziering, shared heartfelt tributes to the late actress. Doherty, who died at age 53 on July 13, 2024, after years of battling cancer, was remembered for her fierce spirit and impactful legacy. In an emotional Instagram post Sunday, Spelling wrote a lengthy note reflecting on her grief and the lessons Doherty taught her. "It's been a year," she wrote in the caption. "Grief is weird. It presents itself in different ways and at different times but never fades. Just like your memory. In fact, it burns epically in my soul more and more as the days pass." "You always told me to stop apologizing for myself. To stop playing small. To stop trying to be palatable when I was born to be powerful," she continued. "You taught me to turn my power on and let it shine. Some people will sit in the uncomfortableness of the brightness while others will be empowered by my flame." Spelling wrote that she has honored Doherty since her death by embracing her own power, speaking her truth, being vulnerable and more. "For me, your legacy lives on in my aura. In the space I now try to take up unapologetically. This isn't closure. This is continuation," she wrote. She concluded, "And I promise -- the torch you passed is lit… I love you forever Shan xo stay wild. stay rebellious. your power is your cause." Ziering, who starred alongside Doherty on "Beverly Hills, 90210," also posted a tribute to Instagram on Sunday, recalling how he once believed Doherty would triumph over cancer. "When I first heard she was sick, we had nearly a decade more with her. And even then, most of the updates sounded less like 'Shannen's fighting cancer' and more like 'cancer picked the wrong woman.' That was her way -- strong, defiant, take-no-prisoners tough," he wrote in the caption. "Every time I saw her during those years, she was still Shan -- fierce, funny, full of life. That's why her passing hit me like a freight train. I was shocked. I truly believed she was going to pull off one more miracle." Ziering said he chose not to post when she died, noting that "grief isn't a performance. It's personal." "I miss Shannen. We clashed now and then in the early years of 90210 -- two strong personalities will do that -- but we always had respect," he recalled. "I was the wisecracking comic relief; she was the beautiful chaos, the after-hours headline, the girl who could trash a hotel room and make the tabloids love her for it. (Stop laughing, Shan. You know it's true.)" He went on to reminisce about the memories they had together as they got older, including their time at a Chippendales show in Vegas, adding, "It was one of those nights that stays with you." "So, my dear Shannen -- I think of you often. Your grit. Your fire. Your kind heart that so few really got to see. I still carry all of it with me," he wrote. "Rest easy, Shan. ❤️." Doherty's fellow WB star Sarah Michelle Gellar -- both "Charmed" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" aired on the network at the same time in the late '90s and early 2000s -- also shared an Instagram post Sunday, paying tribute to Doherty. Set to Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again," the post featured a montage of photos of Gellar and Doherty over the years, including snapshots of them hugging, horseback riding and baking pies. She captioned the post with a simple broken heart emoji. Former "Charmed" star Holly Marie Combs also posted a tribute to Doherty on Instagram. "It's been a year but it's been a minute for me," she captioned the post, which featured a carousel of photos of the two actresses together over the years.

Now 66, Maggie is also known as mum to What Was I Made For? singer Billie Eilish, 23, and her singer-songwriter brother Finneas, 27. ‌ Colorado-born Maggie made her TV debut in 1981 in American soap opera Another World, before stepping onto the Broadway stage and becoming a member and teacher of an improv comedy troupe in Los Angeles, working alongside stars such as Will Ferrell and Melissa McCarthy. ‌ In 1999 she appeared in Friends, playing casting director number two in an episode called The One Where Joey Loses His Insurance. The season six episode features Joey auditioning for a dog food advert while trying to hide his pain caused by an untreated hernia. ‌ When a clip featuring Maggie and Matt LeBlanc resurfaced on social media recently, some people accused Billie of being a 'nepo baby' - and it didn't go down well with Billie's brother Finneas. Following comments such as "Another celebrity helped by Hollywood's roots lol" and "She's been part of Hollywood since her youth", Finneas addressed the topic from his own official Instagram account. ‌ He wrote: "Ah yes, the classic, 1 day of work on 1 episode of friends to make someone rich and famous- the whole gag of this video is none of you had any idea at all who she was." As well as releasing her own country music album and having larger roles in Bones and Six Feet Under, Maggie has also worked as a voice actress in computer games such as the EverQuest II series, Final Fantasy XIII, and the Saints Row series. She continued: "My dad is the best actor I've ever seen. And my mom can do all these voices and characters – she's incredible. So I wish they'd had more recognition." As well as working, Maggie and Patrick also homeschooled Billie and Finneas, and Billie has since said how beneficial it was to her growing up. "I learned how to do math by cooking with my mom,' she said. 'I learned, like, how to build sh*t from my dad."
