Citadel's Ubide Says ‘Now or Never' for Eurobonds

A proportion of European government bonds should be converted to joint 'Eurobonds' in order to deepen the European bond market and make it more attractive to investors, according to Citadel's Head of Economics Research, Angel Ubide. Increases in defense spending and doubts over US economic stability mean the time is now for creating a new European financial instrument, Ubide told Bloomberg Radio in a conversation with Caroline Hepker and Lizzy Burden. He argues that a deeper European bond market would serve both to unify the continent in the face of threats from Russia and weaker support from the US, and meet heightened demand for European investment.
