Diablo 4 Is Free For PS Plus Subscribers In July As Sony Hints At Upcoming Price Hike
The demon-slaying, action-RPG Diablo 4 is coming to PS Plus Essential in July after celebrating its two-year anniversary. It arrives just in time for PlayStation 5 and PS4 players to delve into next month's free Sins of the Horadrim season 9 update, and as Sony hints at a possible future price hike for the subscription service. Free is a nice price for PS Plus subscribers to experience Diablo 4's grimly fun main campaign, with a streamlined seasonal level grind and the paid Vessel of Hatred expansion for anyone interested in sticking around after the main story wraps. Season 9 adds a new questline, micro-dungeons called Horadric Strongrooms, Escalating Nightmares that chain together three dungeons for a shot at fighting the Exalted version of Mephisto acolyte Astarothnew, a new spellcrafting system, and mouse and keyboard support on console. Also arriving to PS Plus on July 1 is The King of Fighters XV (PS5 and PS4) and French climbing puzzle adventure Jusant (just PS5). The latter was one of 2023's late but great indie releases that mixes the cinematic moodiness of something like Ico with a movement system influenced by GIRP. To mark 15 years since PS Plus launched, Sony is also wrapping up June with some special deals for subscribers, as well as new perks like an extended free trial of Monster Hunter Wilds for Premium members. I love how Sony talks about PS Plus with great fanfare but won't post subscriber this data, I was able to use cross-reference PS Plus sub counts with MAUs to get a rough idea of the proportion of PlayStation monthly users who actually subscribe to Plus. — Derek Strickland (@DeekeTweak) June 25, 2025 PS Plus has had some decent months this year, which might be why a price hike feels like it's coming just over the horizon. PlayStation CEO Hideaki Nishino recently remarked that players kept signing up for more expensive tiers even after the last round of increases. 'The PlayStation Plus service offers great value for our players, and we will continue to add more value and adjust our pricing strategy in a dynamic way to maximize profitability,' he told investors earlier this month. Ever wonder what the most popular games on the service are? Sony recently disclosed the top 10 in no particular order to Game File. They are mostly single-player games, including four first-party Sony blockbusters: God of War Ragnarök, Ghost of Tsushima, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and The Last of Us Part I. Others include Hogwarts Legacy and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, alongside no-brainers like Grand Theft Auto V. Less obvious top-performers are Dead by Daylight, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and UFC 5. PlayStation's global services VP Nick Maguire told Game File the company remains committed to bringing its big first-party games to PS Plus no earlier than 18 to 24 months after they comes out. Instead, it's been wooing subscribers to upgrade to the priciest tier with PS1 and PS2 classics, while streaming for PS3 games has been rarer. 'Through streaming, we'll still continue to look at those ones,' he said. 'We haven't ruled them out. The opportunities are there. But there are a lot of PS3 games already streaming.' . Diablo 4 Season 8 end date – when the game steps into a new content drop
The Diablo 4 Season 8 end date is fast approaching, meaning fans don't have long left to complete the content on offer before the ninth season begins in earnest Diablo 4 is set to receive more content in an upcoming update that remains shrouded in mystery, but regardless, many fans will be relieved to bid farewell to Season 8. In a broad sense, Diablo 4 Season 8 has been about endings, making its conclusion all the more fitting. Belial's Return introduced a revamped endgame, which was initially welcomed with open arms before launch – however, the season hasn't exactly been a hit with fans. Changes to the game's passes have left players feeling exploited for money, and complaints about dull missions and lacklustre efforts from developers have eroded Blizzard's goodwill among the most devoted Diablo fans. It's a challenging time, especially as other games are making their mark – players seeking co-op titles are trying out FBC: Firebreak's unique gameplay, and with the Nintendo Switch 2 launch library offering so much, it's surprising that many players haven't already abandoned ship. Things are looking a bit grim at the moment, but as Diablo continues to commit to its seasonal releases, there's still a lot of optimism that the game can rally for the upcoming ninth season. After all, the game made quite a splash at launch and demonstrated that Diablo can still hold its own in today's gaming world, despite a few early seasons struggling to validate the model's sustainability before getting back on track. New seasons are a gamble for Diablo fans, and it's clear that not everyone is convinced at this point. Perhaps the game should have taken a leaf out of Bethesda 's book and introduced a new fishing update like Fallout 76. However, more is coming as the end date for Diablo 4 Season 8 nears and a slew of secret, enigmatic changes are set to premiere in the game, hopefully giving it a fresh lease of life. But when exactly will we bid farewell to the current season? Here's what you need to know about the Diablo 4 Season 8 end date. READ MORE: PS Plus Essential July 2025 games reveal time, and when you can download the PS5 and PS4 titles Diablo 4 Season 8 end date The end date for Diablo 4 Season 8 is scheduled for Monday, June 30. This has been confirmed by an in-game day timer, which is counting down to this date. No specific time has been announced yet, but we're expected to find out by the end of the week. While there's still a lot to discover about the forthcoming ninth season, it's clear that the end date for Diablo 4 Season 8 is rapidly nearing. If you're a fan of the content it provided, then dive in while you have the chance – otherwise, prepare for fresh content.

Your PS5 games are about to look a whole lot smoother thanks to this new update — here's what it does
Sony just dropped a system update for the PS5 and PS5 Pro, finally putting the problematic VRR stuttering to rest. The PS5 system update, version 25.04-11.40.00, doesn't actually specify this particular fix in its release notes. Instead, Digital Foundry highlighted the change in a post on X, referencing an email correspondence with Sony PR. In the unlikely event you you don't get a system update message upon startup, first make sure you're connected to the internet. Head to Settings -> System, then System Software. Click "Update System Software," and you should be good to go. Sony PR contacted me yesterday to confirm that - as already detected by some - the latest PlayStation firmware resolves the VRR hiccup issue. Both the PS5 and PS5 Pro have long suffered from stuttering issues when using VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) for several months now. In an ironic twist, VRR is intended to diminish stuttering using some key enhancements. These include real-time syncing of the console and TV's refresh rate and an unlocked framerate to give games that buttery-smooth look. The PS5 initially used the technology without any constraints, but a more recent system update that went out in the past few months most likely caused VRR syncing issues when playing specific games in this mode. The problems persisted after playing for around 30 to 40 minutes across a variety of games. Luckily, the issue has been quelled across both Sony consoles, and you can rest assured that playing titles like The Last of Us Part 2, Diablo 4, and more will run smoothly in VRR mode now.
