5 Revealing Analyst Questions From Electronic Arts's Q1 Earnings Call

Electronic Arts delivered first quarter results that exceeded Wall Street's expectations, driven by a rebound in flagship sports franchises and a successful new game launch. Management pointed to renewed engagement in the EA SPORTS FC series following major gameplay updates, as well as strong momentum in American football titles and double-digit growth in The Sims. CEO Andrew Wilson credited the company's rapid response to community feedback and targeted content drops for restoring player engagement, especially after a temporary slowdown in FC. The launch of new intellectual property, Split Fiction, also outperformed internal expectations, reflecting the strength of EA's diversified portfolio. Is now the time to buy EA? Find out in our full research report (it's free). Revenue: $1.9 billion vs analyst estimates of $1.76 billion (6.5% year-on-year growth, 7.6% beat) EPS (GAAP): $0.98 vs analyst estimates of $0.91 (8.2% beat) Revenue Guidance for Q2 CY2025 is $1.6 billion at the midpoint, above analyst estimates of $1.45 billion EPS (GAAP) guidance for the upcoming financial year 2026 is $3.44 at the midpoint, missing analyst estimates by 23.4% Operating Margin: 20.8%, up from 13.2% in the same quarter last year Market Capitalization: $39.63 billion While we enjoy listening to the management's commentary, our favorite part of earnings calls are the analyst questions. Those are unscripted and can often highlight topics that management teams would rather avoid or topics where the answer is complicated. Here is what has caught our attention. Matthew Cost (Morgan Stanley) asked about the drivers of the EA SPORTS FC rebound. CEO Andrew Wilson explained that a combination of personalized marketing and a significant gameplay update restored player engagement among key cohorts. Eric Sheridan (Goldman Sachs) questioned Battlefield's development and go-to-market investments. Wilson emphasized deeper community collaboration through Battlefield Labs, while CFO Stuart Canfield clarified that increased marketing costs were the main driver of incremental expenses. Doug Creutz (TD Cowen) inquired about American football's growth outlook. Wilson pointed to broader fandom for both NFL and college football, while Canfield signaled balanced guidance to account for tough year-over-year comparisons. Chris Schoell (UBS) asked about macroeconomic risks and pricing power. Wilson highlighted the resilience of major franchises during downturns and described pricing as focused on quality and value, with no immediate changes planned. Eric Handler (ROTH Capital Partners) sought insight into World Cup monetization. Wilson stated that such global events consistently drive player acquisition and engagement, especially in North America, benefiting the EA SPORTS FC franchise. Looking forward, our analysts will be monitoring (1) the player reception and engagement levels for new releases like Battlefield and Skate, (2) ongoing progress in mobile expansion and international football market penetration, and (3) the effectiveness of live service content and real-world sports event tie-ins. The trajectory of Apex Legends and the impact of resource realignment will also be important to track. Electronic Arts currently trades at $157.40, up from $154.55 just before the earnings. EA FC 26 cover star leaked – who will be on the front of the new game?

Leakers have revealed almost all there is to know about EA FC 26 before EA Sports has had the chance to announce anything itself It looks like we now know who is set to star on the front of EA FC 26, with the EA FC 25 cover star leaked on social media. We're still a few months away from the release of EA FC 26, and with EA Sports yet to reveal anything about the new game, you'd expect hype surrounding the next EA Sports FC instalment to be low. Well, this isn't quite the case, with a host of EA FC 26 leaks being made across social media over the last few weeks. ‌ Without anything being revealed by EA, it now seems that players know nearly everything there is to know about EA FC 26. Details such as the games release date, new Icons and new card designs have all been leaked over the last few weeks, but now, the EA FC 26 cover star has been leaked, likely spoiling any big reveal or surprise that EA had planned. ‌ EA FC 26 cover star leaked In EA FC 24, Erling Haaland was on the front of the game. EA FC 25 saw Jude Bellingham make his debut as the frontman. And now, according to leaker @FutSheriff, Bellingham will be the EA FC 26 cover star, with EA sticking with the Real Madrid and England international for another year. In all honestly, this was sort of expected from most people. It's likely that Bellingham agreed to a multi-year deal with EA when he became the cover star for EA FC 25, so at least one more year of the Englishman seems appropiate. There were other players rumoured to be on the cover of EA FC 26, but there were some players we could rule out instantly. Could it have been Cristiano Ronaldo? Lionel Messi? Lamine Yamal? Well, we already knew for a fact it couldn't have been any of these. Yamal was revealed as an ambassador for eFootball, previously known as Pro Evolution Soccer (PES), earlier this year, meaning the Spaniard cannot be on the cover of EA FC 26. Messi has also been an embassador for eFootball for a few years now, while Ronaldo is an investor and ambassador for free-to-play football game UFL. It is a shame that the cover star has been leaked so far in advance, as it does take away any sort of surprise factor when EA makes its official announcement. For EA FC 24, there were no leaks about Haaland being the cover star, so when it was officially revealed, it was a surprise for everyone. But, it seems that leaks are more prominent than ever ahead of EA FC 26. Let's hope that EA can find a way to limit these when the game's eventually released.

EA Sports College Football 26 goes deeper: Real coaches, fiercer recruiting, and a wear-and-tear slider

Image generated using AI tool After an 11-year break, EA Sports' college gridiron series finally comes off the bench with more than a fresh coat of paint. College Football 26 lands on 10 July for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, promising a beefed-up Dynasty mode, smarter AI and deep cross-play leagues designed to satisfy die-hard fans and first-timers alike. A new kind of sideline boss For the first time, you can start your Dynasty as one of more than 300 authentic head coaches and coordinators—each carrying a real playbook, scheme, and career record. If you'd rather craft your own persona, fresh gear options (hoodies, quarter-zips, even sleeveless tees) and custom stances let you choose everything from wardrobe to body language. Coach progression now stretches to level 100, so building a legend takes more than a weekend binge. Recruiting is no longer a spreadsheet EA has rebuilt the talent hunt around traffic, distance and the modern transfer portal. Cross-country visits burn time, local kids are cheaper to woo, and up to 3,500 players can jump into the portal each off-season. Facilities, playing time and NIL-style expectations shift as prospects grow, forcing constant triage of scholarships and promises. Wear-and-tear makes every hit matter A new health pool tracks damage to specific body parts through the season. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like After Losing Weight Kevin James Looks Like A Model 33 Bridges Undo Star running back limping in Week 8? Rest him or risk a longer lay-off. The slider can be tuned, but injuries now sap ratings, change animations and even cut momentum bonuses during a game. Dynamic substitutions help—swap tired starters without pausing and save custom sub packages for future Saturdays. 2,800 plays, 45 formations and smarter defence EA has packed in ten fresh archetypes, rebalanced abilities, and tied quarterback vision to height. Defensive AI has also been overhauled after fan feedback, aiming to end the 'cover-2 cheese' that plagued older editions. Momentum still swings, yet poor form or heavy bumps can drag stats the other way. Custom conferences, protected rivalries and full cross-play Whether you want to keep Michigan-Ohio State glued to November or create a coast-to-coast super-league, the scheduling tools now allow protected rivalries and playoff tweaks. Dynasty leagues support cross-play, meaning PS5 and Xbox Series X|S owners can rebuild together without workarounds. A roomy Trophy Room and College Football History hub track every title, award and record you collect. Mark your calendar EA Sports College Football 26 hits PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on 10 July, with Deluxe owners getting the ball on 7 July. EA says these upgrades are 'Year 2' of a multi-season plan, hinting that even deeper immersion—perhaps NIL deals or expanded playoff formats—could follow in future iterations. For now, the return playbook already looks thick enough to keep fans busy until bowl season. Want every last detail?
