Where does James Franklin rank in 2025 Big Ten coach rankings?
The pressure is on like never before for Penn State head coach James Franklin heading into the 2025 season. With raised expectations for the Penn State program and strong preseason power rankings placed upon them, the Nittany Lions are roaring into the new college football season believed to be a strong Big Ten and national title contender. But where does Franklin rank among his peers in the conference? CBS Sports released its annual Big Ten coach power rankings this week as the Big Ten football media days got underway this week. Not surprisingly, Franklin was among the top-ranked coaches in the Big Ten but did not land the top spot in this year's rankings. Franklin ranked third on the list from CBS Sports behind Ohio State head coach Ryan Day and Oregon head coach Dan Lanning. That would seem to be a fair assessment given Day is coming off his first national championship with the Buckeyes and Lanning guided Oregon to a Big Ten championship, at the expense of Franklin and Penn State, and a no. 1 seed going into the College Football Playoff last season. Penn State's head coach moved up one spot in the Big Ten coach rankings from CBS Sports this year. Franklin swapped places on the ranking with USC head coach Lincoln Riley. The biggest move in the Big Ten coach rankings came from Indiana's Curt Cignetti, who jumped up to no. 6 from no. 14 following a brilliant debut season in Bloomington with the Hoosiers. Luke Fickell of Wisconsin tumbled from no. 5 in the Big Ten to no. 11 after a rough 2024 season. Michigan State's Jonathan Smith took a similar fall from no. 7 down to no. 13. The spotlight is on Franklin this season, more so than ever before. The expectations are higher than ever. Will this be a year where Franklin breaks from the narrative of coming up short in the biggest of moments when the lights are the brightest? That remains to be seen, and soon enough we will begin witnessing the results for better or worse. You can check out the Big Ten coach rankings from CBS Sports to see how everyone compares. The Fantastic Four First Steps post-credits scene leaked online, reveals the future for Marvel's first family and a Robert Downey Jr tease
WARNING: This article contains spoilers to Marvel's The Fantastic Four First Steps and Avengers Doomsday. Everyone at Marvel Studios, including the top executives, writers, actors, and the person who brings Robert Downey Jr his coffee, currently has their backup. Even though they have had a lot of troubles since Avengers: Endgame, Marvel has been on a path towards Avengers: Doomsday for a long time, and with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, they will soon be standing just one movie away from Dr Doom. But it seems that someone is definitely getting fired because the post-credits scene of First Steps has just been leaked online, and it is huge, to say the least. Now from the trailer, leaks in the past, and several fan theories, we know that the Fantastic Four family will have something to do with Doomsday. Now the post-credits scene of the film confirms their involvement in Doomsday, and more than that, it brings the family face to face with their biggest foe, Dr Doom. In the first post-credit scene, we see Sue Storm reading a book to her infant son, Franklin Richards. She asks H.E.R.B.I.E. to pass her the book Franklin likes. After choosing the right book, she turns to Franklin, and there she sees a figure sitting on the sofa beside her son. The figure is wearing a green cape and is holding Franklin in his arms. Sue tries to use her powers but fails to do so, and Franklin can be seen holding Doom's mask. The scene ends as the words 'The Fantastic Four will return in Avengers Doomsday' flash on the screen. ALSO READ: Spider-Man and The Punisher will come together in the next Tom Holland film, confirms Marvel's Kevin Feige There is some prior information available about this scene, which now makes even more sense, as director Matt Shakman revealed to ComicBook that the post-credits scene has been directed by the Russo brothers and not him. It is understandable why the Russo brothers would take on this role, as they are the ones directing Doomsday, and their vision regarding Doom's entrance would be more in tune with the actual film. Shakman said, 'I often think of working at Marvel as like running a relay race. You pass the baton, you run as hard and fast as you can with it for that section of the race that belongs to you, and then you pass that baton. I passed it on to Joe and Anthony, and they're off and running, and that's great.' Now we know that The Fantastic Four will be involved in Doomsday, but it also raises some questions about Sue and Reed Richard's son, Franklin. In the comics, Franklin is an omega-level mutant (strongest category), and at one point he made the world eater Galactus his own herald. Narratives between the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and Dr Doom have gone down a million different ways in the past, and all we need to do is wait and see what path Marvel chooses. Featuring Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn, the film releases July 25.

Investigators say the child's father called 911 about 3.15pm local time and officers quickly responded to an apartment building at 195 Steuben Street near Weser Avenue in the Park Hill section of the borough. Police found the little girl with abrasions to the torso. A one-year-old girl is recovering after being thrown down a garbage chute on Staten Island on Monday, police said. (CNN) She was rushed to Richmond University Hospital in stable condition and is expected to recover. Police said a 39-year-old man was taken into custody. Police sources say he is the one-year-old's uncle. He has not been charged. An NYPD officer was seen on the third floor standing in front of the garbage chute and just down the hall was the family's apartment with the door open. Neighbour Milton Franklin told CBS News New York the family has lived in the building for a while. "I'm lost for words right now because I'm just ... a baby down a garbage chute is just ... it's absolutely mindboggling," Franklin said. He said he was coming home from work on Monday afternoon when he saw several emergency crews outside the building and a distraught woman carrying a child to an ambulance. "I'm going to pray that God wraps his arms around this family and they get through this situation," Franklin said. "It makes me feel so depressed. It makes me feel bad about who can do a thing like that," neighbour Froylan Zapata added. Penn State ready for Big Ten football media day spotlight
Penn State may have the highest preseason expectations of any Big Ten team headed into the 2025 season. After returning almost all of their prolific starters from last year, they have consistently been ranked either No. 1 or in the top 5 in the country in many preseason rankings. As the Big Ten media day spotlight approaches, more questions will be asked of this Nittany Lions squad and how they will handle this pressure. On Wednesday, head coach James Franklin and a select contingent of players, including star quarterback Drew Allar, will address the media and likely answer several pressing questions about the team's outlook for the season. On a day in which the onus will be on the shoulders of the Penn State contingent, Franklin and Allar will be expected to address each question with candor, yet also with belief and enthusiasm. This season will be unlike any other for Penn State, and I expect the media day won't be handled any differently. As the presumptive Big Ten favorite this year, the overarching narrative of Big Ten media day will surround that hype. After all, Penn State hasn't been Big Ten champion since 2016, Franklin's second year in Happy Valley. Almost a decade later, with only that title to his name, Franklin must face the reality of the situation, especially in this benchmark of a year. While he has gone 101-42 in his illustrious career, he is an abysmal 1-14 against top 5 teams and an awful 4-16 against Big Ten rivals Ohio State and Michigan. Their rivals have nothing to prove. Look for Franklin to ensure that these results can be reversed this year, and Penn State will come out on top not only in those pivotal matchups but as the Big Ten champion. Another storyline that could define Big Ten media day discussions is the play of Drew Allar and whether last season was a harbinger of things to come. After a career year in which he led the Big Ten in passing, Allar decided to return for an encore. Thus, he must deliver and most importantly, sustain the level of play he attained last year. However, just because Allar drastically improved last year does not mean he is perfect. He had four interceptions combined in three of Penn State's biggest games, including a painful one in the waning moments of their CFP semifinals against Notre Dame, which effectively handed the Irish the win. Expect Allar to be candid about those moments and discuss the matter in a professional manner. Allar seems like the kind of player who is determined to move on and redefine his career, and he will show that confidence often in the media day environment. Overall, Penn State's media day will be the most anticipated not just in the Big Ten, but in the entire country. With the added pressure of all the preseason hype they've received, all eyes will be on how two of the most important aspects of Penn State's potential success handle the weight of all those expectations.

Indianapolis Colts LB Zaire Franklin unavailable for start of training camp
Colts' LB Zaire Franklin told reporters on Tuesday that he will be unavailable for the start of training camp. Indianapolis Colts' linebacker Zaire Franklin will not be ready for the start of training camp as he recovers from offseason ankle surgery. When speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Franklin said that he wasn't going to put a timetable on getting healthy, but said that he has been running and is pleased with his progress, according to The Athletic's James Boyd. "This is a marathon," Franklin told the Indy Star's Nate Atkins. Franklin would have the ankle procedure back in early May. Franklin is coming off his most productive season in 2024, which included leading the NFL in tackles, making his first Pro Bowl, along with being named a second-team All-Pro. He also set a career high with 15 quarterback pressures, four sacks, and two interceptions. This offseason, the Colts have been implementing a new defensive scheme under Lou Anarumo, one that is more aggressive and disguise-heavy. In addition to Franklin being out for OTAs and minicamp, so was Jaylon Carlies, who had offseason shoulder surgery. At this time, we do not know if he will be available for the start of training camp. The Colts' linebacker room overall is inexperienced, and that depth will be tested early on in training camp while Franklin is sidelined. "They've been doing as much as they can within the rules in terms of their injuries and stuff. But extra meetings with coach Bettcher and just staying ahead of it," Lou Anarumo said of Franklin and Carlies. "Ultimately, they play linebacker, they gotta get down in there and get used to playing football at some point. Hopefully that's sooner than later. But mentally they're trying to stay with it as best they can."
