7 ways Galaxy Z Flip 7 beats Razr Ultra (2025)
I've been using the Motorola Razr Ultra (2025) for nearly two months now as my daily driver. Now that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is official, I have my reservations about continuing to use the Razr Ultra because of all the new upgrades Samsung announced during its latest Galaxy Unpacked event to its new flip-style phone. Motorola certainly deserves credit for being aggressive the last few years with its Razr line, and the Ultra is no doubt proof of that. In fact, it tops our list of best foldable phones — and with good reason too. When you've tamed the beast, it's only a matter of time before it comes back with a vengeance, which is exactly what's happening here with Samsung. There's a lot I explain in my Galaxy Z Flip 7 hands-on, including how I think it offers more value than the cheaper Galaxy Z Flip 7 SE that was announced alongside it. I'm eager to see how a Galaxy Z Flip 7 vs Razr Ultra (2025) turns out, but here's everything that makes the Flip 7 better. As much as I love the Razr Ultra, its $1,299 starting cost is significantly higher than previous years and makes it tougher to convince people to buy it. In contrast, Samsung has kept the price of the Flip 7 at the same $1,099 cost as last year's model. That $200 makes a big difference, especially considering how the Galaxy Z Flip 7 matches its rival in several key metrics, like how it now has similar inner and outer displays. Both phones also have nearly the same level of utility with their flex modes, but I think the Z Flip 7 has an edge overall that's made better by its cost — proving to me it has more value. Even before it was announced, I already knew that Samsung's latest Galaxy AI features were light years better than the Moto AI features on the Razr Ultra. My sentiments remain the same with the Galaxy Z Flip 7, as Samsung supplements its toolkit with even more Galaxy AI features — and this is despite how both phones have access to Gemini Live for multimodal AI interaction. New additions like cross app actions, Now Bar, Now Brief, and Audio Eraser all add more depth, which complements all the existing Galaxy AI features Samsung has released to date. Moto AI might be a good starting point, but it's nowhere close to matching the breadth and scope that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 offers. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. One of the reasons why I think the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has more value than the Razr Ultra (2025) is that it offers users 6 months of free Gemini Advanced — whereas it's 3 months with the Razr Ultra. I would take as much of Gemini Advanced as possible because it's become a tool I've constantly tapped into. You also get access to many premium AI features, like Veo 3, which can generate video through a text prompt. These kinds of requests are only available through Gemini Advanced, so having more time with it is always a good thing. While the specs indicate that they're somewhat similar in size and weight, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 still has a slight advantage over the Razr Ultra (2025). For starters, it's a smidge lighter at 6.63 ounces — while the Ultra tips the scale at 7.02 ounces. Motorola's always taken pride in the svelte construction of its foldables, including the Ultra that comes in at 0.28-inches thin when it's open. Yet, the Flip 7 has the more, razor-like profile with its 0.26-inch thinness. These are small margins, but nonetheless qualities that favor the Flip 7. One way Motorola's been able to distinguish its flip phones from Samsung is by fashioning larger outer screens, which makes apps look fuller and easier to interact with. This changes with the Galaxy Z Flip 7 because Samsung has finally given its flip phone a proper upgrade. Now there's a larger 4.1-inch Flex Window display with the Z Flip 7, which for the first time comes in larger than any Motorola Razr to date. I know it'll be easier to interact with widgets and apps than ever before, but the larger size makes vlogging and taking selfies a lot better too. Software support is just as important because it means an old phone could get new features over time, which is where the Galaxy Z Flip 7 has an advantage due of Samsung's pledge of seven years of software support. This means getting the latest Android software, including security updates. Despite being a flagship model, the Razr Plus (2025) doesn't even get half that amount. Instead, Motorola pledges three years of software support. And lastly, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 beats the Razr Ultra (2025) because it now supports Samsung DeX — which gives you that true, desktop PC-like experience. To be fair, though, the Razr Ultra (2025) has something similar with Smart Connect, but it works entirely through a wireless connection. The problem with this implementation is that the latency can be a bit slower, which is why I much prefer DeX. Samsung DeX on the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is a big deal because it's the first time this feature has been incorporated into its flip phone lineup. Now, you can connect it directly to a monitor and run DeX. With its wired connection, it should be a more reliable experience.

Your favorite Google AI features just got a cheaper yearly price
Joe Maring / Android Authority TL;DR Google has introduced an annual subscription for its Google AI Pro (2TB) plan, costing $199.99 annually. This new annual option saves users approximately 16% ($40) compared to the monthly $19.99 plan. Higher-tier plans like the 5TB and above plans and the Google AI Ultra plan still require monthly billing options with no access to discounted annual rates. Ever since Google launched the Google AI Pro plan (previously called Google One AI Premium plan), users have been asking for an annual plan. Some Android flagships come with a free trial subscription for Gemini Advanced through the Google One AI Premium plan upon purchase, but eventually, users have to start paying for the AI perks. They can only do so monthly, which can get cumbersome very fast. Google mentioned its intention to bring annual plans for Google AI Pro, and they're finally doing so. As spotted by 9to5Google, Google has introduced an annual subscription for Google AI Pro (2TB), costing $199.99 annually. The Google AI Pro monthly plan costs $19.99, so opting for the yearly billing saves you about 16%, or $40. The Google AI Pro plan was already available for annual billing, but with its 5TB tier, coming in at $24.99 monthly and $249.99 annually. If you need to jump up to higher tiers like 10TB, 20TB, 30TB, or even to the Google AI Ultra plan, you must stick with monthly billing, as these higher tier plans do not have an annual billing option. Currently, I cannot see the annual billing option for the Google AI Pro plan when subscribing to the plan on a new account. However, when I log into my other account that is already subscribed to the plan, I can switch from the monthly plan to the annual billing option. Hopefully, Google extends the offer to new subscribers, too, though if you've never subscribed to Google One's AI plans before, the monthly plan remains a good starting point. If you like the AI perks that come along, you can switch to the annual subscription thereafter. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ . Gemini Live is free for iPhone users — here's how to share your screen and camera
Gemini Live used to be restricted to Gemini Advanced users, but that's not the case any more. You can now use it for free on your iPhone and, what's more, the app also boasts camera and screen sharing capabilities. These features are no mere gimmicks. They're super-useful for getting information about what's either in front of the lens or on your iPhone screen, with the AI more than capable of answering all manner of questions about what it can see. It's a great, natural way to get answers about all manner of things such as the identify of a specific breed of animal or plant. It could help you to troubleshoot or spark creative possibilities. Let's see how it all works. Make sure you install the latest version of Google Gemini on your iPhone then tap the Live icon which you will find in the bottom-right corner of the Ask Gemini box. You will be told that Live requires your microphone to be turned on and that your interactions will be shared and saved. If you are happy to proceed, tap OK. You will then need to tap Allow when asked for access to your iPhone's mic. When you use Gemini Live for the first time, you'll be asked to choose a voice. Do so and you will be taken to the main Gemini Live interface where you can tap the pause button to put the mic on hold, or tap X to end the conversation. We're not going to do either of these things just yet, though. You may, at this point, want to try out Gemini Live by verbally uttering some questions. If there is something in your immediate environment that you'd like to discuss — let's say, for instance, there's a tree you'd like to identify, you need to tap the Camera icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen. Allow Gemini to access the camera and then it will show whatever can be seen by the rear-facing lens. To change the camera perspective to the front-facing one, press the icon in the bottom-corner of the image. Point the camera towards the object you'd like to discuss and then ask a question. Gemini will listen to what you have to say and then give you a verbal response. You can keep up the conversation if you wish or tap the Camera to turn it off again. The camera will also turn off if you put Live on hold, leave the Gemini mobile app or allow the screen to lock. If you've got something on your screen that you want to discuss, you can pop into Gemini Live and press the upward-facing arrow icon. This will allow your screen to be recorded and shared with Gemini. Just tap Start Broadcast. There are some obvious security implications –— literally everything on your screen is going to be shared so if you start moving from app to app while this feature is active, you could easily share personal information. Gemini advises you swipe down from the right of the screen to open the Control Center on your iPhone and tap Do Not Disturb. This will prevent unexpected notifications. When you are viewing the screen you would like to discuss with Gemini, just verbally ask a question. Gemini will give you an answer. The iPhone's Dynamic Island will show you Gemini controls so you can tap the Share button to switch off sharing. You can also go back to the Gemini app and tap the Share button there to deactivate it. A transcript of the conversation will then be shown. The screen will also stop being shared if you hold or lock the screen. It won't obviously stop if you leave the Gemini app, though, unless you close it. There you go! You now know how to share your screen and camera in Gemini Live on iPhone. While you're here, why not take a look at some other useful Gemini guides? Check out 5 smart ways to use Gemini Live with your phone right now and how to use Google Gemini to summarize a YouTube video. And if you want to write smarter prompts in Gemini, here's 5 tips to get better results. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips.

Google unveils AI Ultra and AI Pro, new AI subscription plans at I/O 2025: Price, benefits, availability and more
Google has launched two new paid subscription plans for its artificial intelligence (AI) services – Google AI Pro and Google AI Ultra at the I/O 2025 event. These subscription plans are aimed at power users and professionals who want access to advanced tools and features. Priced at $19.99 per month, the Google AI Pro plan is designed to give users an enhanced experience of the Gemini app. This plan builds upon the earlier Gemini Advanced service and brings with it a broader range of tools such as Flow and NotebookLM. Subscribers will benefit from higher usage limits and extra features to make working with AI more efficient and smooth. The more advanced option is the Google AI Ultra plan, which costs $249.99 a month. It gives users access to Google's most powerful AI models and tools, along with the highest usage limits. It's being described as a VIP experience for those who rely heavily on AI for complex work. One major perk of the Ultra plan is early access to experimental tools. This includes Agent Mode, a new feature coming soon to desktop. Agent Mode allows users to simply state a goal, and the AI will figure out and carry out the steps needed to achieve it. It combines smart browsing, detailed research and integration with Google apps, making it ideal for handling multi-step tasks with little input from the user. The Ultra plan also provides early access to tools like Veo3 and the upcoming 2.5 Pro Deep Think mode, making it attractive for those who want to stay ahead of the curve in AI innovation. At the moment, the Ultra plan is available only in the United States, but Google says it will expand to more countries soon. To attract new users, Google is offering 50 per cent off the Ultra plan for the first three months.
