Nintendo pushes the Zelda live-action film for production improvements: Aims to get it right, not just fast

It looks like Link is taking the scenic route to the big screen. Fans waiting for the legendary Zelda live-action movie must hold on longer. But here's the twist — this delay might be great news. In a world of rushed game-to-film adaptations, Nintendo's decision to slow down could be the exact move that sets The Legend of Zelda apart. The new release date has shifted, but only slightly This is Miyamoto. For production reasons, we are changing the release date of the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda to May 7, 2027. It will be some weeks later than the release timing we originally announced, and we will take the extra time to make the film as good as it… Nintendo officially announced that the Zelda movie's release has been postponed from its original slot to May 7, 2027. The update was shared by Shigeru Miyamoto, who stated that the delay was due to "production reasons" and a desire to enhance the final quality. Nintendo wants to do it right — not just fast The announcement signals Nintendo's commitment to getting things right. Zelda is one of the most beloved franchises ever, so the stakes are too high for a rushed adaptation. Here's why the delay could be the best thing for the movie: Protecting the brand – After The Super Mario Bros. Movie smashed box office records, expectations for Zelda are sky-high. Here's what we know about the film so far: Produced by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Tone: Expected to be deeper and more epic than Mario's fun-filled adventure Style: Full live-action, promising cinematic storytelling and high fantasy Delay isn't just for polish—it's a smart strategy The six-week delay may not just be about quality. Fans on X and Reddit also suggest this could be a strategic move to avoid clashes with other big titles like Sonic 4 and Godzilla x Kong. Why this move could pay off? Prime summer debut: May offers a strong slot with reduced competition from Marvel and other blockbusters. Brand protection: As the Super Mario Bros. Movie proved, timing and polish matter when adapting primary gaming IP. With names like Shigeru Miyamoto and Wes Ball leading the project, fans can expect a movie filled with high fantasy, cinematic visuals, and the magic of Hyrule. From Link's heroic quest to the secrets of the Triforce, this delay could mean we're in for something unforgettable. And if that means waiting a bit longer for a film that feels like Zelda — it might just be worth it. To stay updated on the stories that are going viral follow Indiatimes Trending.

‘Godzilla x Kong' sequel titled ‘Supernova', production begins

The titans are back—Godzilla x Kong is officially getting a sequel, and it now has a name: Godzilla x Kong: Supernova. Warner Bros. and Legendary confirmed the title Friday and released a teaser to mark the beginning of production. The sixth film in the MonsterVerse franchise is scheduled to hit theaters on March 26, 2027. Supernova will be directed by Grant Sputore, known for the sci-fi thriller I Am Mother, and is based on a screenplay by David Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green. Plot details remain tightly guarded, but the film is expected to feature a new wave of human characters as Godzilla and Kong team up — or face off — against a cataclysmic threat with world-ending consequences. Returning to the cast is Dan Stevens, reprising his role as Trapper, the eccentric monster dentist introduced in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. He'll be joined by Kaitlyn Dever, Jack O'Connell, Matthew Modine, Delroy Lindo, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Sam Neill. Mary Parent and Thomas Tull return as producers. The previous film, The New Empire, directed by Adam Wingard, earned over $570 million worldwide. The franchise began with 2014's Godzilla and has since grown into a multi-film saga filled with evolving lore. In addition to the films, the MonsterVerse also extends to the small screen with Apple TV+'s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which has been renewed for a second season. The show stars Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, and both Wyatt and Kurt Russell as different versions of the same character, Lee Shaw.

In addition, Six of Crows was also pulled. Taking to X, one fan wrote: "Shadow and bone cancelled no one talk to me omg just ruined my week." Another said: "I just woke up and Shadow and Bone has been cancelled by Netflix… I don't know how to process this except to say that…WE WERE ROBBED THE HEIST!!!!!" ‌ Meanwhile a third person penned: "Gutted to hear that Shadow & Bone has been cancelled. I thought the show was fabulous." And Leigh Bardugo, who is the author of both series took to Instagram to vent her frustration. She said at the time: "Friends, by now you've probably heard that there will be no season three for Shadow and Bone and no Six of Crows spinoff. The news hit me hard. I'm heartbroken and deeply disappointed, but I'm also trying to hold onto my very real gratitude." She added: "Most authors never get to see their work adapted. Many who do end up regretting the experience. I'm one of the lucky few who can look at an adaptation with pride and tremendous joy. I am so grateful to our writers, our crew, and our extraordinary cast who are not just wildly talented, but genuinely good people." ‌ She went on to say: "Most of all I want to saw how grateful I am to the folks reading this – whether you found your way to the books first or discovered them through the show. " She continued: "The Grishaverse is a better place because of you and I am so thankful for every tweet, post, comment, review, artwork, fic, tattoo and cosplay that helped to make all of this possible. She concluded her post: "We're book people and that means we never stop imagining that magic can be made real. You are proof of that. Now, I'm going to go have a cry, and maybe a drink, and then see where the story takes us next."

Title announced for Godzilla x Kong sequel

'Godzilla x Kong: Supernova' is the new title for the ''Godzilla x Kong' sequel. Kaitlyn Dever, Dan Stevens, Jack O'Connell, Matthew Modine, Delroy Lindo, Alycia Debnam-Carey and Sam Neill are set to star in the film, which will be released on March 26, 2027. 'I Am Mother' director Grant Sputore is to helm the movie, which has been penned by 'Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings' writer David Callaham and Michael Lloyd Green. Although specific plot details for sequel have not been revealed, Deadline previously reported the film will introduce several new human characters who will join the titular Titans as they face off against a new world-ending threat. Starring Rebecca Hall, Dan Stevens and Brian Tyree Henry 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' followed the legendary Titans, Godzilla and Kong, as they joined forces to face a powerful new threat rising from within Hollow Earth - one that poses a danger to both their kind and the future of humanity. It was previously announced that 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' director Adam Wingard would not be helming the next movie due to scheduling conflicts. The Hollywood Reporter said at the time that the filmmaker's departure was amicable, and the door had not been closed on Wingard returning to direct another film in the Monsterverse in the future. Despite his exit, Wingard previously teased he had 'more story to tell' in the Monsterverse. He told Discussing Film ahead of 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire's cinematic debut in March 2024: 'The whole idea that if you've done two movies, like, maybe you should just go ahead and do a third because, as you said, there's a trilogy in there. 'It just depends on how ['Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire'] does and how things kind of shape out. 'I do have more story to tell with these monsters, and I know where I'd go with it. I would be very excited to be able to come back on for another one if things worked out!' Legendary's Monsterverse launched in 2014 with 'Godzilla', followed by the introduction of King Kong in 2017's 'Kong: Skull Island'. The franchise continued with 'Godzilla: King of the Monsters' in 2019, leading to the epic showdown between the two Titans in 2021's 'Godzilla vs. Kong'. The Monsterverse has since expanded to television, with the animated spin-off series 'Skull Island' on Netflix and the Apple TV+ series 'Monarch: Legacy of Monsters'.
