Glorious Goodwood Day 2 free bets – claim over £700 in bonuses
Day two of Glorious Goodwood is here and we've earmarked more than £700 in free bets for you to claim ahead of the seven-race card. The feature race of the day is the Group 1 Sussex Stakes. Irish 2,000 Guineas and St James's Palace Stakes winner Field Of Gold is the short-priced favourite to record a third top-level victory this season for trainers John and Thady Gosden, and owners Juddmonte. If successful, history will be repeating itself. The grey colt can emulate his sire, Kingman, who landed the same three prizes for the same connections in 2014, remarkably on the same three dates of that year. It would also provide jockey William Buick with back-to-back wins in the one-mile contest. Having won a 1m 2f Chelmsford novice and a 1m 4f Haydock handicap, Alan King's three-year-old was then third in a useful handicap back over 1m 2f at Newmarket on his most recent outing this month, being found out by the shorter trip but still running well. Selection: Kurakka 1pt win @ 7/1 with Betfred Go to site > 1.55 Goodwood – Oak Tree Stakes (Group 3, 7f; ITV1 & Racing TV) JABAARA was first past the post in this race last year but was subsequently disqualified for causing interference, however she ought to go well again. Roger Varian's four-year-old filly can be excused a below-par run behind Cloud Cover at Chelmsford last time out as she made a lot of the early running from a wide draw. But before that she had won a Listed race at Musselburgh. 2.30 Goodwood – Molecomb Stakes (Group 3, 5f; ITV1 & Racing TV) LADY IMAN was beaten into second as the 8/15 favourite in a Group 2 contest at the Curragh last time out, but that was over 6f and she didn't see the trip out after travelling easily. She had won her three previous starts, including a 5f Listed race at the Curragh in which True Love finished second, albeit that one was making her debut and has since won twice at Group 2 level. Lady Iman did win over 6f on her third start, in a Group 3 race at Naas, defeating subsequent Group 2 winner Green Sense. But this drop back in distance looks like playing to her strengths. Selection: Lady Iman 1pt win @ 6/4 with Betfred If you already have a Betfred account and are looking for a new bookmaker to use on this week's racing, check out more free bets from the best betting sites, reviewed by our experts 3.05 Goodwood – Sussex Stakes (Group 1, 1m; ITV1 & Racing TV) Is FIELD OF GOLD a good thing? The one worry is that this track might not be ideal for the John and Thady Gosden-trained three-year-old, who might prefer a flatter course than Goodwood. It was only three starts ago that he got caught out by the undulations of Newmarket, getting outpaced off a steady gallop and running on too late when second in the 2,000 Guineas. However, he has since shown himself to be top class with uber-impressive victories in the Irish 2,000 Guineas and the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, so there's no opposing a horse who simply has tons of natural ability. 3.45 Goodwood – Class 2 Fillies' Handicap (1m 2f; ITV1 & Racing TV) There should still be better to come from the William Haggas-trained WONDER STAR. This daughter of Sea The Stars won an Ascot maiden over this trip in decent style on her seasonal reappearance. She flopped eight days later in a Listed race at Newbury, but it says something that she was pitched into that level so soon and, 74 days on, she's potentially capable of better with a handicap mark of 82 looking workable. 4.20 Goodwood – Class 2 Fillies' Conditions Stakes (5f; Racing TV) This can go to ZELAINA (NAP), who cost £650,000 in April and won a Nottingham maiden on her debut in June. It's her next start that makes her of particular interest, as she showed so much speed in the 5f Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, leading early before fading to finish eighth of 23. Down in class and on a less demanding track, she should be hard to live with today. 4.55 Goodwood – Class 3 Handicap (7f; Racing TV) It has taken a little while for DEFENCE MINISTER to find his form this year, but he was an encouraging second at Sandown on his latest outing and looks capable of building on that. His connections felt he was good enough for the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes last year. He found the company a bit tough and may have been unsuited by soft ground in finishing last of the six runners. But he's going the right way again now and this big-field contest should suit his strong-travelling style. Stall 12 is slightly wider than ideal but not a disaster. The final pointer is that James Doyle, retained rider for Wathnan Racing, has seemingly picked him over the owner's other two runners, who look to have fair claims from lower draws. Star ratings explained ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - confident selection ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - strong fancy ⭐⭐⭐ - fair claims ⭐⭐ - tentative choice ⭐ - minimum confidence If you want to find more odds and offers, take a look at our list of the best betting sites and free bets Check out our list of the best casino bonuses in the UK

Glorious Goodwood racing tips: Best bets and odds for day two
Wednesday's Glorious Goodwood tips Field Of Gold (Goodwood, 15.05) – 2pt win @ 2/5 (William Hill) Mdawi (Goodwood, 13.20) – 0.5pt each-way @ 16/1 (Betfred) Tabiti (Goodwood, 13.55) – 1pt win @ 7/2 (Bet365) Military Code (Goodwood, 14.30) – 0.5pt each-way @ 5/1 (Bet365) Ashariba (Goodwood, 15.45) – 0.5pt each-way @ 15/2 (William Hill) Zelaina (Goodwood, 16.20) – 1pt win @ 10/11 (William Hill) Native Warrior (Goodwood, 16.55) – 0.5pt each-way @ 7/1 (Ladbrokes) Visit Qatar Sussex Stakes tips – 15.05 Goodwood While everyone loves the Goodwood Cup, if there's one race that is talked about in the build-up to Glorious Goodwood, this would be it. A Group 1 contest for three-year-olds and upwards, some of the best milers ever trained have won it. Field Of Gold may be on his way to become one of those. After losing out to Ruling Court in the 2,000 Guineas, he went to the Curragh and won the Irish equivalent, before a dominant performance to win Royal Ascot's Group 1 St James's Palace Stakes by more than three lengths from Henri Matisse, who reopposes here. He won't be much of a price on betting sites but the Kingman colt can give John Gosden, now training alongside son Thady, his first winner in the race since Too Darn Hot in 2019. Coral Pipped At The Post Winners Handicap tips – 13.20 Goodwood The curtain is raised on day two with this 1m4f handicap. Sing Us A Song didn't have the pace when the tap was turned on at Royal Ascot. He'd shown some ability in his two previous wins and you wouldn't rule out him getting back on track. However, he's a fairly skinny price given that latest effort and a much more interesting runner at the prices looks to be Charlie Johnston-trained Mdawi. The Wootton Bassett colt won a modest Southwell novice event before going close on his handicap debut at Haydock. He stepped up on that when showing a really good attitude to win from the front at Doncaster last time, over a similar trip to this. That can be marked up and he could have in lightly here with just a 4lb rise. At 16/1 on horse racing betting sites we can take the chance on an each-way bet that he can handle this rise in grade. HKJC World Pool Oak Tree Stakes tips – 13.55 Goodwood Tabiti can assert her authority on this Group 3 fillies' contest over 7f. The Kingman filly did not race until August of her juvenile season, promptly winning on debut at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) and then dropped back successfully in trip to land the Group 3 Dick Pool Fillies' Stakes at Salisbury (good to soft) a month later. Sent off at 11/2 in the Group 1 Fillies' Mile back at Newmarket's October meeting, she never really got in a blow but she ran a cracker on her reappearance at Royal Ascot, finishing a two-length third in the Sandringham, when sporting first-time blinkers. That effort was further evidence of improvement in a big field contest, given she carried topweight and she can take advantage of the age allowance she receives and win again. HKJC World Pool Molecomb Stakes tips – 14.30 Goodwood Irish raider Lady Iman drops in trip for this after running really well to win a Naas Group 3 over 6f and then finish second in the Group 2 Airlie Stud Stakes at the Curragh last time, over the same trip. She'll be relying on those up front to cut each other's throats and then come late on the scene and swoop to conquer. The favourite is certainly not short of pace but nor is the Charlie Appleby-trained colt, Military Code. The Godolphin-owned juvenile won his first two starts at Newmarket and Ascot over 5f, before he flopped when upped to 6f in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. He put that to bed with a close second in the Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown last time, back over 5f. The front pair were clear there and he looks the proverbial each-way bet to nothing at 5/1 in the latest Glorious Goodwood odds. British Stallion Studs EBF Fillies' Handicap tips – 15.45 Goodwood This looks wide open on paper with the layers going 5/1 the field at the time of writing. One who should be heavily involved is Ashariba. David Menuisier's filly is 1lb lower than when a close fifth at Newcastle last time. She looks best when somewhere close to the pace, as she showed when scoring over a similar trip at Newmarket last October. Unlucky not to get the breaks when she needed them at Epsom on her reappearance, she was much better despite that defeat last time and we should get some value about her chance, with the market as it is. The one nagging doubt is that she's so far raced only on ground slower than good but it's not forecast as fast at Goodwood and she looks worth siding with each-way. British Stallion Studs EBF Alice Keppel Fillies' Conditions Stakes tips – 16.20 Goodwood Zelaina would have to be a pretty confident choice here. Karl Burke's filly was well found in the market at Nottingham on debut, when she made all to see off the promising Secret Oath in decisive fashion. Pitched straight in at Group 2 level at Royal Ascot, she showed plenty of pace in the Queen Mary, before succumbing late on. That looked an above average renewal and she was far from disgraced in finishing eighth of 23. Dropped in class for this contest, she can make it count with another success. World Pool Bet With The tote Handicap tips – 16.55 Goodwood No stranger to big festival winners, trainer Karl Burke can pull off a double in successive races with Native Warrior. The Wootton Bassett gelding went close over 1m1f at this meeting last year on the back of a good third in Royal Ascot's Britannia Handicap. Not at his best on slow ground at Doncaster on his reappearance, he was back in better form when second over 1m at Windsor next time, when conditions were quicker. It looked like an interesting play to drop him back to 7f and fit a visor at Newcastle last time. He came from off the pace there, doing his best work late on to beat Dosman in what was a career best. The Burke team look to be following the old adage 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' and are keeping the four-year-old to this trip and retaining the headgear. He's only gone up 3lb for that win and therefore still looks well treated. He's a big player. Templegate's Tote Placepot tips for Goodwood day two with huge £200,000 guaranteed
GLORIOUS GOODWOOD continues today with seven more big races for punters to get into. Our man Templegate has looked through the day two cards and returns with his Placepot tips in the hope of helping you land a slice of the huge £200,000 guaranteed pot! 1 The Placepot is a bet where you select a horse to be placed in the FIRST SIX races of any meeting. You can pick more than one horse in a race – you just multiply the number of selections in each race to calculate your stake. So for staking it's 2x2x2x2x2x2 which adds up to 64 lines. You can stake what you want upwards from 5p a line which would cost a total of £3.20. 10p a line is £6.40 and so on. Provided at least one in each race is placed, we get a payout! Goodwood Wednesday placepot LEG 1: Sing Us A Song, Sudu SING US A SONG can be forgiven one poor run at Royal Ascot where he was sleeping in the stalls. Ralph Beckett's Camelot colt is better judged on his blistering Sandown win that kicked off this season. He shapes like this trip will be ideal and has more to come off a fair mark. SUDU deserves this hike in grade after winning by seven lengths at Epsom earlier this month. He's been hiked 11lb but has lots of talent. LEG 2: Tabiti, Romantic Style TABITI was a cracking third in the Sandringham Stakes at Royal Ascot last time. She led past the furlong marker in that red-hot mile contest and dropping back in trip here looks perfect. ROMANTIC STYLE was a smart Meydan winner in January and unlucky in G3 Abernant at HQ on return. Solid 7f filly when right and can figure under Buick. LEG 3: Lady Iman, Military Code LADY IMAN looks much the best filly in this race and hopefully top Irish trainer Ger Lyons can land his first winner on British soil since way back in 2019. He won't have had many better chances than this talented Starman filly who took the Group 3 Blackbeard Stakes at Naas in May before going close in hot company at The Curragh last time. MILITARY CODE was just nabbed in a Sandown Listed race over this trip latest and may find it easier to get home here. Charlie Appleby is in fine form and his hope goes on good or rattling fast ground. LEG 4: Field Of Gold FIELD OF GOLD looks on a different level to his elders and can follow in his sire Kingman's hoofprints by winning the Sussex Stakes. We all know he should have won the 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket before he demolished his rivals in the Irish version before a bloodless success in the St James's Palace at Royal Ascot last time. There are no trip or ground worries and, while he hasn't tackled a tricky track like this before, there's no reason why he won't handle it. LEG 5: Bintjeddah, Quebella BINTJEDDAH finished like a train when second over a mile at Newmarket last time and this longer trip should be ideal. The handicapper has been fair with a 2lb rise and there's more to come for William Haggas. QUEBELLA looks a threat having run well in a Listed contest here in June before going close in a decent handicap at Southwell. Her mark of 87 looks lenient and she's capable of figuring in this company. LEG 6: Luna Mia, Spicy Marg LUNA MIA was an excellent fourth in a Curragh Group 2 last time despite missing the break. She picked up nicely and should be dangerous in this lesser company. SPICY MARG scored on debut and is another who has been running well in Group company. She wasn't disgraced in the Duchess Of Cambridge at Newmarket last time out. Westridge powers clear in Chesterfield Cup
Trained by John and Thady Gosden and ridden by Billy Loughnane, the four-year-old has been faring well in handicaps recently and started a 6-1 chance in a field of 18. From stall eight he hit his stride quickly and after a prominent passage through the race he took up the lead in the final furlong, then pulling clear of the chasing pack to score by an eventual three and a quarter lengths. 'He enjoyed the space around him today and Billy gave him a lovely ride. It is not easy in a big handicap field but he broke well and made use of him,' said John Gosden. 'He is owned by Glen Manchester, my wife and Nicholas Wrigley, so it's a proper partnership. 'We did have him in the July sales but wisely we chose to take him out three days before the sale, thank God we did that. 'He's a grand horse and he's done well, the handicapper will get him now but to win the Chesterfield Cup is a dream come true because Glen is very much Goodwood orientated. 'It'll have to be York now though I'm not sure which race, Mr Wrigley will demand it. Rachel is just the silent partner, she does whatever they want!' Ruth Carr's Brazen Bolt made the long journey from Yorkshire to Sussex worthwhile with success in the Coral Golden Rewards Shaker Handicap, where he prevailed by a nose at 28-1 under Warren Fentiman. Peter Furr, Doncaster-based winning owner-breeder, said: 'He has been an unbelievable horse. We have bred a few horses but nothing like him. He went to Bahrain and won last year and when he came back he was not very well. 'He had ulcers, a bad tummy, stress, everything. Me and my daughter got him back and had him on a nebuliser. We took him to Ruth this season and she has been fantastic. 'We didn't expect to win at York last time and we came here today thinking it would be really firm ground and when it wasn't we didn't expect this again. It doesn't happen to people like us.' Stellar Sunrise got off the mark for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy in the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes. The Space Blues colt had been placed in both starts prior to his Goodwood run, and that experience served him well as he came to the fore at 6-1 to win by a length and a quarter from evens favourite Naval Light. 'He had the experience, and I think the draw helped as well,' said Balding. 'He was given an astute ride, as the stands rail was definitely an advantage in a big field with these younger horses. 'He'd shown a fair level of form in his previous races, but he's getting more streetwise and he was very professional today. 'We'll look at nurseries now and we'll find out more next Tuesday (when he is given a rating).' Roger Varian's Protest built on recent Listed efforts to make a winning handicap debut in the Ridgeview Fillies' Handicap over a mile. The Cheveley Park Stud owned and bred chestnut struck at 11-2, steered by Silvestre de Sousa to a one-length win.
