Dolly Parton musical appearance Advertisement Before the curtains opened on the first night of previews, the 79-year-old inspiration for the musical took the stage with director Bartlett Sher. As expected, the crowd erupted. Parton then proceeded to regale the audience with this humorous anecdote: 'We've had a great time. We've had so many wonderful people that have worked on this show, and I think you're gonna love everybody's part because they have worked so hard. But you know, this has been my dream for a long time. You know what's funny, back in 1964, when I was a senior in high school, did I tell you this story? Advertisement Well, my high school class, we went to New York to the World's Fair. And that was the year that every taxi cab in New York said, 'Hello, Dolly.' That's when the musical 'Hello, Dolly' was there, and I thought, wow. I can't wait to see my name on a taxi cab again… I want you to know that we're so happy that we get to do this in my hometown here in Nashville…' She concluded her charming speech by telling the crowd not to sing along to the songs they know and love. 'This ain't no hootenanny!' she added. 'This is a Broadway musical. Have a great time, you know I love you, appreciate you.' Huge Nashville concerts 2025 Can't make it to see 'Dolly' live on stage? "I'm not gonna stop": Stevie Wonder has no plans to retire

Music icon Stevie Wonder said that as long as he's alive, he will continue to perform and create music, stating, "I'm not gonna stop the gift that keeps pouring through my body," according to People. Music icon Stevie Wonder said that as long as he's alive, he will continue to perform and create music, stating, "I'm not gonna stop the gift that keeps pouring through my body," according to People. "For as long as you breathe, for as long as your heart beats, there's more for you to do," said Wonder. He added that "an artist doesn't stop drawing just because." Instead, "you keep on. So as long as you can imagine, as long as you are going to be creative, and as long as you let your mind work, you don't have to retire." Wonder, who released his debut studio album when he was 12 years old, said that even to this day, "I love playing music, that's like my mantra. I think I can do all the stuff I want to do - still have fun and do what I need to do - but I'm not going to stop the gift that keeps pouring through my body," reported People. He added, "I love doing what I'm doing." When it comes to his many successes, like "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours," "Superstition," and "I Just Called to Say I Love You," the 25-time Grammy winner has no trouble performing them repeatedly. "Songs are like children, they're with you forever," he said, explaining that "they are statements from the spirit within you, and singing those songs is like me taking another breath," reported People. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Wonder, who made a surprise performance at the 2025 Met Gala, is currently slated to play his many hits around the country with Sing Your Song! Before that he was most recently playing live onstage in the United Kingdom for the Love, Light & Song UK Tour. It was during a July stop at Blackweir Fields in Cardiff, Wales, the singer made headlines after he joked about rumors that he can actually see. "I must say to all of you, something that I was thinking: 'When did I want to let the world know this?' But I wanted to say it right now," Wonder began. "You know, there have been rumours about me seeing and all that?" "But seriously, you know the truth. Truth is, shortly after my birth, I became blind," he continued. "Now, that was a blessing because it's allowed me to see the world in the vision of truth, of sight. See people in the spirit of them, not how they look. Not what color they are, but what color is their spirit?," reported People.

‘The Cosby Show' Alum Malcolm-Jamal Warner's Cause of Death Confirmed

The Cosby Show alum Malcolm-Jamal Warner's cause of death has officially been revealed. The Costa Rican Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) confirmed that Warner's autopsy was completed on Tuesday, July 22. Warner's cause of death was "asphyxia due to submersion." It was ruled accidental. On Monday, July 21, TMZ and People reported that Warner had died at age 54, citing accidental drowning as the cause of death. Following the first report, ABC News spoke to the Costa Rican National Police, who told the outlet that Warner had drowned off the coast of Costa Rica and his official cause of death was asphyxia. Police claimed that he died near Cocles, a beach in Limon, Costa Rica, after being caught by a high current in the water. He was discovered on Sunday, July 20. Most Shocking Celebrity Deaths of All Time Warner, born in Jersey City, New Jersey, in August 1970, landed his breakout role as Bill Cosby's onscreen son Theo Huxtable on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show, which aired from 1984 to 1992. His performance earned him a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 1986 Emmy Awards. After The Cosby Show, Warner continued his television career on shows such as Malcolm & Eddie from 1996 to 2000, Reed Between the Lines in 2011 and 2015, Sons of Anarchy in 2014, The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story in 2016 and The Resident from 2018 to 2023. Most recently, Warner had a four-episode-stint as Amir Casey on 9-1-1 in 2024. Aside from acting, Warner had a successful music and spoken poetry career. He won the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for his song 'Jesus Children' with Robert Glasper Experiment and Lalah Hathaway in 2015 followed by another Grammy nomination for Best Spoken Word Poetry Album Hiding in Plain View in 2022. Despite Cosby's sexual assault scandals, Warner said that the show is still 'so groundbreaking' and important. 'What made it so groundbreaking was its universality,' he explained to People in February 2023. 'NBC initially saw it as a show about an upper-middle class Black family. Mr Cosby diligently impressed upon them that the show was about an upper-middle-class family that happened to be Black.' Celebrity Deaths of 2025: Anne Burrell, Kim Woodburn and More Stars We've Lost This Year Warner went on to say that before The Cosby Show, 'black sitcom humor was predicated on being Black' — and all of that changed with the NBC sitcom. 'Though the Huxtables were clearly Black — reflected quite obviously by their dress, the Black art on the walls, the music — the family issues all were universal,' he told the outlet. 'And though Cliff [Cosby] was a doctor and Claire [Phylicia Rashad] was an attorney, the family dynamic was one that practically every family — no matter the ethnicity, socio-economic status or even family makeup — could find something to relate to.' Warner is survived by his wife and a daughter, whose names he has not chosen to publicly reveal.
