Honor to make 7,000 mAh batteries standard on future flagships, 8,000 mAh for mid-rangers
Honor's latest device in China - the Honor X70 features a huge 8,300mAh silicon-carbon battery and the brand has been releasing devices with 7,000+ mAh capacities for a while now. According to tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS), Honor will continue to prioritize large battery capacities for its midrange and flagship phones this year. Honor X70 features an 8,300mAh silicon-carbon battery As per the new DCS post, Honor's 2025 flagships will offer at least 7,000mAh cells while its midrangers are set to pack cells in the 8,000mAh range and above. That's a notable increase for Honor's midrangers as last year's Honor X60 shipped with a 5,880mAh cell while the X60 Pro featured a 6,600mAh capacity. Honor Magic7 Pro Honor's flagship Magic7 series ranged between 5,650 and 5,850mAh cells, so 7,000+mAh on the upcoming Magic8 series would be a solid improvement. DCS also suggests that future Honor flagships will offer a maximum of 100W wired charging speeds. It remains to be seen if Honor phones outside of China will also receive the added battery capacity boost. Source (in Chinese)

New extremely durable phone with 8,000+ mAh battery goes official
One of the few things that can make a mid-range phone stand out in an already overcrowded market is the size of the battery. It's one of the first things customers usually look after price. Honor is one of the companies that understood that and its new X70 is proof of that. Introduced earlier this week in China, Honor X70 is trying to appeal to the masses with its extremely generous 8,300 mAh silicon-carbon battery. This is a new technology that allows companies to pack much bigger batteries inside their phones. Honor X70's huge battery features support for 80W wired charging, but those who pay for the expensive 512 GB benefit from 80W wireless charging support too. But that's not the only thing that makes Honor X70 so desirable. The Chinese handset maker announced that its mid-range phone packs a decent Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, which was introduced back in February. This particular chip promises 29% better GPU (graphics processing unit) performance, 11% improved CPU performance, and 12% power savings compared with the previous generation. Realme 14 and Oppo K13 are among the not so many phones that are using Qualcomm's Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, so it's probably safe to assume that these will be Honor X70's main the X70 brings to the table that no other phone powered by the same chipset brings is exceptional sturdiness. According to Honor, the X70 can withstand water up to 85 degrees Celsius. Honor X70 | Image credit: Honor Also, the phone is waterproof up to 6 meters and it should still be ok after being dropped on concrete from 2.5 meters. Honor X70 features IP66, IP68, and IP69 certifications covering just about every common ruggedness standard. Users can even operate the phone using gloves. On the back side, Honor X70 features a 50-megapixel wide-angle camera with PDAF and OIS (optical image stabilization), which is a bit odd even for a mid-range phone . The fact that the X70 comes with a single rear camera is probably its only downside. Let's hope it's not going to be its downfall too. As far as the screen goes, Honor X70 sports a vibrant 6.79-inch AMOLED display with 1200 x 2640 pixels resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, and incredible 6,000 nits peak brightness. Honor X70 at first glance : Display : 6.79-inch AMOLED, 120 Hz refresh rate, 6,000 nits peak brightness : 6.79-inch AMOLED, 120 Hz refresh rate, 6,000 nits peak brightness Chipset : Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 : Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Memory : 8/12 GB : 8/12 GB Storage : 128/256/512 GB : 128/256/512 GB Camera : 50MP : 50MP Front camera : 8MP : 8MP Battery : 8,300 mAh, 80W wired charging, 80W wireless charging (only 512GB model) : 8,300 mAh, 80W wired charging, 80W wireless charging (only 512GB model) OS : Android 15-based MagicOS 9.0. Honor X70 is now available for pre-order in China for prices that don't go above the $300 mark. The phone comes in four different flavors - Phantom Night Black, Bamboo Green, Cinnabar Red, and Moon Shadow White, but won't hit shelves until July 18. Honor X70 prices in China : 8/128 GB – 1,400 yuan (€165 / $195) 8/256 GB – 1,600 yuan (€190 / $225) 12/256 GB – 1,800 yuan (€215 / $250) 12/512 GB – 2,000 yuan (€240 / $280) Unfortunately, it's unlikely that this will be available anywhere else but China. Perhaps Honor will bring this to other markets under a different name and with a slightly modified specs sheet, but that's just a guess. Secure your connection now at a bargain price! Honor X70 vs. excavator and fire hose
Honor is unveiling the X70 on July 15, and the brand has ramped up its teaser campaign for the phone now that it's mere hours away from becoming official. Have you ever wondered who'd win a confrontation between a yet-unannounced smartphone and a Sany SY205C-S excavator? Well, the video below will give you the answer. Spoiler alert: the phone is affixed to one of the excavator's bucket's teeth, and then the excavator does some good 'ol excavating, with the phone over there. At the end, after being exposed to a whole lot of dirt, it survives unscathed, as you'd expect. In the second part of the video, the phone is hit by the excavator's bucket, which makes it fly in the air for a while until it falls to the ground. Naturally, it's fine. And finally (and most insanely), it's 'pressed' by the excavator's bucket, once again making it through with no issues. Next up, a fire hose. This one's more straightforward - the fire hose shoots water directly at the phone, and it's fine thanks to its IP69 and IP69K water resistance ratings, even though other items aren't. The Honor X70 will have a record-breaking (for a mainstream smartphone) 8,300 mAh battery but will somehow still be less than 8mm thick and weigh less than 200g. It's going to boast a 6.79-inch 1200x2640 OLED screen, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 SoC at the helm, 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and MagicOS 9 out of the box.

Honor X70 runs Geekbench with its huge battery, confirming its chipset and RAM amount
The Honor X70 is getting official on July 15 with a record-breaking (for a mainstream smartphone) 8,300 mAh battery - the capacity has already been confirmed by the brand. Ahead of that, a prototype has seemingly been spotted in the Geekbench online results database, with the model number MTN-AN00. As you can see, it managed a 1,064 single-core score and a 2,998 multi-core score in Geekbench 6.3.0, but as usual you probably don't want to take scores of pre-release devices like this one too seriously. The benchmark run has confirmed that the X70 is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 SoC, and in this particular unit it was paired with 12GB of RAM. It will run Android 15 when it launches. The phone has also been rumored to sport a 6.79-inch OLED screen with "1.5K" resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. The massive battery will support 80W wired and 80W wireless charging. The X70 is less than 8mm thick despite the gigantic battery and weighs less than 200g, somehow. Via
