She acted in 32 films, did 48 TV serials, quit the movie industry at 15 to become IAS officer, failed 5 times to finally crack UPSC with AIR…, she is…

In Indian cinema, there are many stars who didn't study much. Some of them left school or college to chase their dreams in films. A lot of famous actors never even went to college. But one actress, who acted in 48 TV shows, did something very different. Instead of quitting school for acting, she actually left the film industry to focus on her studies. She once worked as a child actor in South Indian films and had a growing career. But her goal was clear i.e. she wanted to become an IAS officer. So, she made a bold choice and decided to leave the glamour world of cinema behind to follow her dream of joining the civil services. Who is this child actress who left acting to become an IAS officer? The former child actress is Keerthana. She worked in many Kannada TV shows like Ganga Yamuna, Karpoorada Gombe, Kanooru Heggadithi, Circle Inspector, Muthina Aliya, Upendra A, O Mallige, Lady Commissioner, Janani, Siguru, Happa, Door, Simhadri, and Putani Agent. In all of these shows, she acted as a child artist. Apart from television, Keerthana also acted in several Tamil and Kannada films. She even worked in movies alongside popular Tamil actor Ramesh Aravind. By the time she turned 15, Keerthana had already acted in 48 TV serials and 32 films. But, she made a big decision to quit acting and focus on her studies. Her goal was to become an IAS officer and she was very clear about her goal. Failed many times, but never gave up When Keerthana decided to quit acting, many people were shocked. Most believed she was about to start working as a lead actress in films. So when they found out that she had left cinema to prepare for the IAS exam, it came as a big surprise. Before going for the UPSC (IAS) exam, Keerthana first cleared the Karnataka State Administrative Service (KAS) exam. She worked in a government job for two years. But her dream was bigger—she wanted to become an IAS officer through the UPSC exam, which is known to be one of the hardest in India. The road wasn't smooth. She failed five times. But Keerthana never gave up. In 2020, on her sixth attempt, she finally cleared the UPSC exam with an All India Rank of 167. Her dedication and patience paid off. She got her first posting as an Assistant Commissioner in Mandya, Karnataka.

Media Reports On Air India Crash Speculative & Premature, Says US Transport Safety Body

Last Updated: NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy said the report was preliminary, echoing India's stance of calling out foreign media outlets for 'irresponsible' reporting on the Air India flight crash The United States National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Jennifer Homendy has called the recent media reports on the Air India Boeing Dreamliner crash 'premature and speculative", saying 'investigations of this magnitude take time". Last week, a preliminary investigation released by India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau revealed confusion in the cockpit shortly before the June 12 crash that killed 260 people, and raised fresh questions over the position of the critical engine fuel cut-off switches. 'Recent media reports on the Air India 171 crash are premature and speculative. India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau just released its preliminary report. Investigations of this magnitude take time. We fully support the AAIB's public appeal, which was released Thursday, and will continue to support its ongoing investigation. All investigative questions should be addressed to the AAIB." India has called out foreign media outlets for 'irresponsible" reporting on the Air India flight crash following the release of the initial report, and appealed to them to wait until the investigation is complete. Calling it 'essential" to respect the sensitivity of the loss faced by families of victims, AAIB said it is too early to reach to any definitive conclusions. What Did The AAIB Report Say? The preliminary probe report has revealed that both switches feeding fuel to the two engines of Air India flight 171 were cut off, followed by pilot confusion before the plane crashed in Ahmedabad, seconds after taking off. It said one pilot asked the other why he had shut off the fuel to which the latter responded that he hadn't taken the action. 'The aircraft achieved the maximum recorded airspeed of 180 Knots IAS at about 08:08:42 UTC and immediately thereafter, the Engine 1 and Engine 2 fuel cutoff switches transitioned from RUN to CUTOFF position one after another with a time gap of 01 sec," the report said. At the time the aircraft took off, the co-pilot was flying the plane, while the captain was monitoring. As per the report, the engines N1 and N2 began to decrease from their take-off values as the fuel supply to the engines was cut off. 'In the cockpit voice recording, one of the pilots is heard asking the other why did he cutoff. The other pilot responded that he did not do so," it said. Pilots At Receiving End Since the report went public, several foreign media outlets have laid the blame for the aviation disaster at the door of the pilots. A Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report claimed that a senior pilot may have accidentally cut off fuel supply to both engines, leading to the crash. Yet another report by WSJ clearly blamed the senior pilot, saying the cockpit recording between the two pilots indicates that the flow of fuel to the plane's engines was cut by the captain of the flight. After the report went public, several foreign media outlets blamed the Air India pilots for the crash that killed 260 people on June 12. A Wall Street Journal (WSJ) report claimed that a senior pilot may have accidentally cut off fuel supply to both engines, leading to the crash. Another report by the WSJ now puts the blame on the senior pilot. It says the cockpit recording between the two pilots indicates that the flow of fuel to the plane's engines was cut by the captain of the flight. Air India CEO and MD Campbell Wilson has said AAIB's preliminary report on the Ahmedabad plane crash last month found no mechanical or maintenance issues with the aircraft or engines, and that all mandatory maintenance tasks had been completed, urging everyone to avoid drawing premature conclusions as the investigation is far from over. tags : Ahmedabad Plane Crash Air India crash Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau view comments First Published: News world Media Reports On Air India Crash Speculative & Premature, Says US Transport Safety Body Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Writ in HC to direct CS to appoint inquiry panel into illegal sale of Bhoodan lands

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court's single bench of Justice K Lakshman on Friday directed Terra Rajnikanth Reddy, State Additional Advocate-General to get instructions from the government on its stand whether it will appoint a commission of inquiry to go into the illegal mutation and alienation of the Bhoodan lands (10.17 acres) in survey numbers 194 and 195 at Nagaram village, Maheshwaram mandal of Ranga Reddy district. The judge passed the order, while adjudicating the writ filed by Vadthya Ramulu, who contends that he is the legitimate owner of the lands; they were fraudulently sold by creating fictitious documents. The petitioner's counsel informed the court that he is the owner and possessor of agricultural lands (10.17 acres). Though the lands were gifted to him by his late father Jamala and were registered at SRO Ibrahimpatnam, they were fraudulently sold to Senior IAS and IPS officers, who are influential and got their names mutated in revenue records; also obtained Pattadar passbooks. The counsel said the petitioner had represented to the Chief Secretary, seeking a probe into the issue by constituting a commission of inquiry, but there was no response. Hence, he had filed the petition. He further informed the court that there was another writ (No. 12637/2025) wherein the petitioner was aggrieved by action of officials in Revenue, Registration, CCLA and other departments, who fraudulently alienated the Bhoodan lands to senior IAS and IPS officers and their family members. Earlier, in this writ Justice CV Bhaskar Reddy had restrained the Revenue department from making any further sales of the lands. Justice Lakshman after hearing the counsel for the petitioner and Rajnikanth Reddy directed the HC Registry to tag both writs together for further hearing. He adjourned the petition to July 28.

Left parties have gone silent under DMK rule: Edappadi K Palaniswami

TIRUVARUR: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami on Friday attacked the Left parties saying they did not raise problems faced by farmers under the DMK government. Speaking in a public meeting at Nannilam as part of his state-wide tour, Palaniswami said only after the AIADMK staged a protest highlighting cotton farmers were getting very low price in the regulated market in Tiruvarur, IAS officers are supervising the auctions. 'Farmers who were getting Rs 52 per kg earlier are now getting Rs 74 per kg', Palaniswami said and questioned why other parties did not raise the demands of farmers. Taking a dig at Left parties, Palaniswami said they used to stage protests whenever people faced problems, but have gone silent now.. 'The moment you (Left parties) received money from the DMK, it was game over for you', Palaniswami said referring to DMK's disclosure, in its expenditure affidavit for 2019 Lok Sabha elections, about the donation paid to the two parties. Targeting the DMK, he said, 'The government is confusing people by giving different names for the same scheme. 'First it was 'Ungal Thoguthyil Stalin', then 'Mudhalvarin Mugavari' and now it is 'Ungaludan Stalin'. All are one and the same,' Palaniswami said. Further, he said DMK's 'Oranyil Tamil Nadu' campaign was nothing but a membership drive by the ruling party. 'The DMK has weakened after Stalin and Udhayanidhi came to leadership positions. Now they are have come to a situation where they knock on the doors of people to enrol in the party,' Palaniswami said. He arrived at the venue riding a bullock cart along with former minister R Kamaraj. Earlier in the day, he held a roadshow at Kollumangudi. Speaking at Kilvelur later, Palaniswami promised to make the Nagapattinam Government Hospital into a multispeciality hospital once AIADMK comes to power.

Delhi Confidential: Heavy hitters

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal is learnt to be leading the battery of lawyers appearing for Justice Yashwant Varma in the challenge against in-house inquiry mechanism that indicted him. Sibal will be joined by former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, and Senior Advocates Sidharth Luthra and Siddharth Agarwal. Both Sibal and Luthra have handled impeachment proceedings in the past. While Sibal appeared for Justice V Ramaswami in 1993 and spearheaded the motion against former CJI Dipak Misra, Luthra appeared for Justice S K Gangele. Soft Diplomacy Many delegates, who were part of the post-Operation Sindoor global outreach, had called for more soft diplomacy and exchange programmes. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla seems to have taken this up. During a meeting Friday with a South Korean delegation led by former prime minister Kim Boo Kyum, Birla proposed the idea of parliamentary friendship groups from the Indian side. Such groups from both sides are expected to have interactions in future. Quick Exit Many officials and politicians tend to overstay in their official bungalows long after demitting office. Former IAS officer Amitabh Kant, however, vacated his official bungalow at 6, New Moti Bagh within a month of resigning as India's G20 Sherpa on June 15.
